Agree with you guys. Diarra is not really a priority given that we already have Gattuso, Ambrosini, Brocchi, and Vogel who can all play the defensive midfield holding role. If he's going to go to Real Madrid for some ridiculous fee, then let him go, I personally dont think he's worth the money.

As for Ashley Cole, he would be a great signing if we DIDNT have Janku, Sergio, or Kaladze (IMO, Maldini is no longer suited for the LB role). Given that we have the above three players, it's simply not worth spending so much money on a LB. If we're going to spend money, I reckon we should do it on a top class striker---either Tevez, Torres, or Sobis, or better yet get both Tevez and Sobis.

Diarra to RM @ EURO 26 million, deal is confirmed, we are sucked, really sucked and really really really sucked.
not really, I'm a little happy when I heard this new. I don't want Diarra in Milan by paying E26M. I'd rather have some young talent with that money, or Tevez. Diarra is not worth that money, E1M more expensive than when Shevchenko came to Milan.

Zambrotta aside, i've not been bothered one bit by any other clubs buying players. But here we've really missed out !

You can say all you want about "Diarra isn't needed" ... "He's not a priority". For my eyes he was needed, he's a class above all the other central midfielders we have that would play alongside Pirlo & Gattuso. How many more games do you need to see before you realise that we just aren't strong enough in midfield ? How many games do you need to see before you realise that Brocchi, Ambrosini, Seedorf, Vogel aren't the answers ? Good squad players, but Diarra would be a better solution than all of them.

We're a soft touch in midfield, we have no bite aside from Gattuso, we need someone to install some 'punch' in our midfield. Diarra would have been the best person for this.

Real have a great team now, they have a superb defensive core in Cannavaro, Emerson & Diarra. They have highly energetic full-backs in Ramos/Cicinho & Carlos and yet people still think they won't win anything.

It can't be a coincedence that nearly every team in the world plays with 2 players in the middle that are tough and agrressive. We have one yet people still think we don't need anyone.

Our only alternative now it seems is Mascherano.

It's this kind of belief that is the problem. Yes these are good players, no question. But they're not good enough to help us win all the titles we want. Brocchi, Bonera, Simic, Billy & Maldini good enough to play regularly on the wings ? You're joking right ? Of all the players we have for the flanks only Jankulovski, Serginho (left) & Cafu (right) are the ones that can do the job properly and there are questions over Cafu's longevity this season and Jankulovski's consistency.

We need someone like roy keane in the heart of our midfield.....
Pirlo is too weak hence a genius, Gattuso is powerful yet a bollock with minimal competencies in tactical awareness, plus his passing sucks.....

That's why we need someone like Diarra, Essien, or Javier Mascherano to give Andrea more freedom

All in all i'm with Jim all the way if we are talking about our obsolete and predictable midfield a la our own Carletto Ancelotti......

i have a feeling Carlo might want to use Ambrosini for that role. I would love to see Ambro in the role on a regular basis, as he is capable of doing a fantastic job there, and his career took rise lately when he captained Italy.

However, my fear, and I'm guessing most here is his injury problems, which has really been the real problem in his career, because otherwise I think we'd be talking about another world class defensive midfielder.

I not only fully agree with Ario and Jim, but also have to add something more: Seedorf is not anymore the player he used to be. He's performing way down below his past standards, looking a bit tired and aloof. We must recharge our midfield, and each passing goddamned day that turns to be more difficult!

Unfortunately, Seedorf is a players that needs to be replaced from first 11. As Grenoli saio, that is not the old Seedorf, he cant run like he used to do, he is slower that before and so on....

Yeah... but if our president is thinks that Fat Ronnie is the player he once was, certainly he rates Seedorf as a genious...

Seedorf can be a genius!

If he think Ron (fat) is how he was then Amoroso is better than Ronaldinho...

Seedorf can be a genious if he plays 20-25 full matches per season, but not if he plays 45 like he will play this year.

Diarra finally signed to Real for 17ME, it was the players desire to go to Madrid.

I was upset we lost out on Essien last year, now Im even more upset to hear that Real have got their friggin grubby mits on Diarra. But were not pussies so we dont cry over spilt milk. LOL.

Maschereno is good, but Iv seen a younger kid called Gago a few times and he reminds me so much of Redondo. He is good at defending and has wonderful techinique. Hes pretty quick too, so I could really see him fitting into either side of Pirlo. Here is a clip I found.
