If i was on Silvio's place, with 11 billions euros in my "pocket" i will do everything to bring Roni to Milanello because, players like Pele,Maradona,Garincha,Ronaldo,Cruyff,Zico,Zidane and others greatness of football don't walk on earth very often. This is one in a life time opportunity to have this amazing trio in Milan. History will remember this trio because i'm sure that they will be better or the same than our other famous dutch trio. Just try to imagine this situation...they don't need to win everything if they give us something to remember like that golden Brazil 86 ( i think ) Zico's generation. They didn't won WC but we still remember it today...and i think that is very, very important...

yeah? I'd really like to hear what you or other Milan fans would have to say if we by Dinho and a whole bunch of other expensive players and fail to deliver on the field.
Football would still be passion. Only that passion will quickly take the form of "what a waste of money" or "the management are idiots for wasting on one clown enough money to buy half a winning team" or "other teams win by spending half the money we did for one player" etc, etc.

bottom line is winnign is the only thing that keeps the fans happy ... if that winning comes with beautiful football, that's a nice bonus, but the "winning" part is what makes fans out phans.

an even deeper bottom line, however, is that fans simply don't know what it is that they want ... their likes and dislikes change with the wind ... just as easily as one player could go from "viva Dinho" to "get his butt out of Milan"

the problem is that it's not about opinion or not ... it's just how people are in general, not only with football.

what I can't undersatnd is how people think that getting Dinho, we will be getting the Dinho from Barca and Spain and he will solve all our problems just like that with his magic.

if his coming to Milan automatically meant Milan being Milan i.e. winning while playing beautiful football, trust me, no one would think even once to be against this move.

That however is hardly the case as we could very well get ourselves a 70+ mil euro player, who in all probability will not perform in Italy the same way he did at Barca ... and in short could prove to be a huge waste of money, which will not only fail to pay dividents but will prevent us from rebuilding other areas of the team.

If Dinho was to be the cherry on the cake after all other areas in defense and midfield have been take care of, who wouldn't like that ... problem is that, by the looks of it, Milan is going after him with the idea of him being the cake, not merely the cherry.

I agree with those who think Ronnie will not pay off as a long-term investment. How long would it be before the euphoria of playing for Milan wore away, and then he gets bored and starts slacking off again (like he is right now)? And how can the management say that they can't give Dida X-amount of dollars when Ronnie would demand far more than that? I don't get it.

If we spend such an exorbitant amount (which we more than likely will if he were to come here), we won't have much left to improve more important aspects of the team, like the defense. We'll have to resort to luring Billy out of retirement.

I would say there is no doubt that Ronaldinho is not as fit as he was and far from as explosive. But like with Ronaldo he is so full of class and you will see that any team that plays against Barcelona will at least put two men on him and close him down quickly. Just having him on the team would give other players a lot of freedom. We could also add the little thing about him being Barcelonas best scorer this season and second best in Spain in total. I don't think you can deny what he can bring, if he could also get in shape again we would have even more of a player here. although having a physical player in serie A ain't as important as in other places.

Kris is soo right,,with him beings out of form and not fit his Barcas best scorer, and spains second scorer... Imagine what he can do when his backl to his old form or get even better than that

It's been 18 months since his last international goal, and Dunga benching him isn't helping either.

I don't think there's much logic in what you're saying here. Firstly, I don't know if you're trying to say Ronaldinho is comparable to Pele, Maradona, Zidane, Ronaldo etc., but I honestly don't think he's at that level. He's a great player (one of the best of his generation), an incredible talent, but I don't think he is able to dominate games as these players, who did so even when no where near their best.

The Brazilian trio is possibly an interesting prospect, but there's not a brilliantly high chance it will work. Since Kaka has become less of a perhipheral as he's matured, him and Ronaldinho have worked well less together. Before, it would be Kaka played off Ronaldinho who was the main leader of attacking moves. Now, Kaka is a leader himself, so to play them together means either one will suffer in their play, to try and compliment the other, or they become messy and lack control of the game. To say Ro-Ka-Ro as some places have dubbed the trio will be better than the dutch trio is almost laughable imo. Technically they are better yes, but the Dutch trio worked much better as a unit, and would each play more defined roles where there was little chance of them stepping on each other's toes. Also, Kaka, Ronaldinho and Ronaldo may make up our attack, but they won't form the spine throughout most of the team, which is precisely what the dutch trio did (both in attack and defensively).

Brazil '82 may be remembered fondly by football fans, but there are many people who supported them who are bitter. To say we can accept the talent without the success is completely wrong. Milan is built on success, to which both fans and the club are expectant of success at all times. Should we get Ronaldinho and create this "dream team", anything other than big trophies on a regular basis would be completely unnacceptable.

Finally, there's something about Ronaldinho's style of play that puts me in doubt about his success. He has a tendency to want to take a lot of touches, play on the ball and do his tricks, but he isn't a particularly "direct" player, which in Serie A becomes a necessity. He needs to be more efficient in his play, as in Italy, unlike Spain, you don't get the space, time and chances to show off technical ability, which is more important in Spain.

I am not saying he is not a quality player ... I am questioning however how useful would he be if, becuase of his huge transfer fee, Milan decides to save money when it comes to rebuilding the defense and bringing depth in quality to the midfield, because we can't afford to play 50-60 games/year with pirlo, Gattuso, Gorky, Kaka only. How useful would be to have Dinho up front if the midfield and defense are gonna leak goals like crazy?

Also, I have no doubt in my mind that The Dinho in Italy will be a dif one to the Dinho in Spain where he has more space to play his game ...
for Ronaldo, it doesn't really make much of a dif where he plays because his game now more than ever is based on simplicity and eficiency, that's why he manages to be effective even when he is out of shape.
In Dinho's case however having open space to operate is fundamental and that's why I think he will find life to be harder in Italy than in Spain. So, it's a bit deceptive to look at what he's done in Spain and think that he would bring his influence on the game to Italy as well.

But that's not my main problem with getting Dinho ... i also think he is a quality player and coming to milan would help him find his motivation, so I wouldn't mind if Silvio wants to splash half a CL-winning team on one player ... but only if he and Galliani take good care of the other parts of the team that need repair and not just patch up the dents and scratches with average players just because they will be out of funds after spending 70+ mil on Dinho.

now that's what I meant when I said that Ronaldo is better suited to Italy than Dinho as it is this "directness" and "efficiency" that the latter is lacking in his current way of playing and these are fundamental qualities for success in Italy.
Well put Dev

Ronaldinho is a football genious, peroid. EVERY TEAM needs him ,every single team in the world. So does Milan. If he arrives in Milan he will play AM alongside KAka', and with Ronaldo up front, that is the idea of the new Milan. Something like Ronaldinho-Eto'o-Messi. Only better
Now, that is all super, but there needs to be some serious backup behind that. Gattuso, Pirlo, Ambrosini, Gourcuff...not enough. But Milan is showing serious tendences for diarra, Camoranesi ... And that would be simply brilliant.
Yes, our defence needs rebuilding, but not more than 2 players. Nesta, Kaladze, Maldini ,Bonera are just fine on CB, Serginho will be back for another year, and Oddo will adopt. Maybe one class player like Zambrotta could be usefull as he can play both flanks. So, with only 3 players we would have perfect team, GK is still open quastion. But no doubt that, if he wants to, Berlusconi can get whoever he wants. WHOEVER....

If you have some concerns about Ronaldinho, just relax, if he arrives it will be just fine!
