Christ.. did you see what Gila did right before he took the shot? He was standing with his back towards the goal, with two Barca defenders trying to take the ball off of him, and still he managed to turn around with the ball and get a shot in. I'd say that's a pretty good acheivement.

Fact is, Gila got very little support last night, and so did Sheva. Barca man-marked Pirlo and Kaka, so there wasn't much creativity in our midfield. For a striker to score, he needs good passes from the other team members. And those were non-existent last night.

If we're going to point fingers at players who missed great scoring opportunities, then we should begin with Ambrosini, who could have equalized right at the end.

When Gila first got here he had one label: he doesnt produce when it counts, big matches. And that has been the story so far in Milan.

Inzaghi, without being Henry or Sheva, is one of those guys I would kill to have in clashes like Milan-Barca, UCL, etc, etc.

If they score first at Nou Camp, I will start kissing the UCL goodbye. Not yet. If we score first over there, we will be on the driver seat. Too bad Rafa Marquez didnt see a yellow card.

ok now that i am cooler and more calm, here's what i thought of the game

serginho played ok today, not that great as many say.. he could have done better..

kaladze was good today.. well done to him

nesta was good and so was stam.. IMO we should play Cafu-Stam-Nesta-Serginho in the return.. Maldini is not match fit and did not play well at all when he came on..

their goal was wierd, seemed to me like Giuly was in between both nesta and kaladze, and when ronaldinho sent in the ball behind them, nesta just gave up on it and hoping dida would get it, but dida took a step forward and a step backward..other than that, dida was excellent today.. Stam played a good match defensively but he isnt good at attacking.. Cafu also didnt do much when he came on..

Rino was so close to getting a YC a number of times.. Ronaldinho was passing him so easily every single team.. maybe out of 6 times they faced each other on the pitch, only once Gattuso got the ball off him..

Pirlo? ive never seen pirlo like this before, he was never this bad in a whole season.. IMO he is the most important player for us in the 2nd leg because his passes are exactly what we need to score

Seedorf was great on the left, played really well today and had a magnificent assist to Sheva.. but he really shouldnt be played in a CM position..

Ambro played well in midfield, but unfortunately he wasted a golden chance to equalise for us..

Sheva hasnt been playing well for a while now..what is up with him? we really need him more than ever for the return leg.. it seemed to me that he just didnt want to move, didnt want to get into position.. he had a dangerous header in the 1st half from a seedorf assist, and he made a wonderful assist to Kaka in the 2nd half, but thats about it..

Gila? i prefer not to talk because i will toast him.. i just hope that Pippo will be available for Barca, and even if he isnt, i would like to see Rui.... and NO, the xmas tree is not more defensive because there is 1 less attacker, it is more stable for us, it is the formation that we play best at.. I just hope Carlo becomes a bit brave and decides to take some risks. I hope Gila doesnt play in Camp Nou.

Kaka is wierd.. 1st half he was completely out of the game, but in the 2nd half when we conceded a goal and all our players seemed hopeless, he was determined to get us back into the game single-handedly, and i believe that was the best Kaka i have seen all season!! he played absolutely AMAZING!! i wish he was always like that..

But it ain't over yet guys and gals! Milan created some quality chances, they dictated the pace for large swaths of time, but like Kaka said it was just the details that cost Milan the game.

I like the gameplan Carlo came out with, just go after them. Geez, how many teams out there actually made Mr. Rijkaard take on a more cautious approach to a game? Not many.

At the Nou Camp we will defintely put one, and hopefully more than just one ball in the 'ol onion bag for Mr. Valdes to pluck out. If Milan manages to score first, hold on to your hats 'cos the game will evolve into a classic.

Some of us are pretty bummed, but me, I'm fired up for next week. I have a good feeling we Milan fans will be carrying on like this next Wednesday:

My friend and I come to the conclusion that if you want to win CL, you gotta score, whether it's in San Saro, Nou Camp or anywhere.

I think what pisses me off today is ronaldinho's smile on his face. I remember Kahn doing that against Sheva, and we all know what happens eventually.

Hey, friends, losing this game is bad but everything is still there to play for. Here is my comments for our performance:

1/ The entire team did not play pretty well though not that poor, the worst players on the pitch were Pirlo as everyone can see and Dida. In the goal we conceded he mis-read the ball, came out then retreated, this left him not emough time to covery the near post where he was beaten. A GK must be blamed if he is beaten at the near post.

2/ What when wrong with this game actually started with the Inter game which we did not rest while Roni rested the last 2 games. Basically we did not do enough in the mid field. I posted before that we should forget the Inter game.

3/ Our play system is so easy for opponent to read, they just have to put pressure on Kaka and Pirlo that is all it take to take the control out out our hand.

I agree with you and disagree with Egoistka about her sister scoring with the left if she was at Gila's position

Egoistka, the more you bite Gila the more "venomous" ... and inconsistent You become. Not many strikers can pull off the spin and a getaway from the 2 defenders, not to say that it is not that easy to hit the target coming out of that twist dance. If you think differently, explain why.
Plus, the game is unpredictable, always. Sheva misses from 2 meters when the whole net is wide open at 118th minute ... it HAPPENS.
The most embarrasing missed oportunity to me was a wide open Ambros. rushing his shot.

Another situtation I wanted to discuss here is my seeing of Kaka's pass to Gila at 2 on 1.
Gila was offside at the moment of the cross to Kaka from the right (again), but it was a passive offside, since he was moving away from the goals and Kaka did beat the offside trap.
However, if Gila remembered (or knew) the passive/active offside rule he should not have been going to get open since he immediately became active in the play and the offside should have been called. Do you follow my logic? Gila should not have gone back to the goals because he started to interfere with the play, becoming active, with the offside should have been called. Should Gila have stopped Kaka would have had to shoot on the target..

crap from a so called Milan fan. is this how true Milan fans think, that our players our crap just because they couldn't score a goal. no one else was able to produce goals so are they crap too?!? the fact of the matter is that we can't say that inzaghi would have definitely score because we just dont know. ive seen inzaghi miss easier opportunities than what gila and the rest of the team had. so we cant say that we're 100% sure that someone will score. hey we all thought that sheva would have made that penalty kick in last years CL finals right?!?

we're suppose to be Milan fans, and a true milanista supports the team no matter what. even when the team is only trailing 1-0, which we are capable to overcome, we have to support OUR TEAM.

Gila was far better than the Liga top scorer Eto'o, who practically was nullified.
More: everyone against Gila but Shevchenko wasn't actually better.
