i cant believe vicente isnt even on the list!!!!!!

IMO he should be 1 of the last 3 candidates for it... if not the winner himself, he was outstanding!!!

PRESS SURVEY - DECO: 'Sheva never misses'
12 October 2004 09:58

MILAN - Welcome to our presentation of what the Italian press are saying about Milan on Tuesday, October 12. 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' published an interview with Barcelona star Deco, who talked about the award for European Footballer of the Year and FIFA's World Footballer of the Year: 'I am not the only candidate. I rate [Thierry] Henry, Ronaldhino and [Andriy] Shevchenko. The most dangerous rival, however, has to be Shevchenko. He hardly ever misses a chance, either for Milan or Ukraine. Barcelona will face Milan in the Champions League, but it's not really Deco against Sheva. However, it's the encounter between the two strongest sides in the group.'

LoL I read that..I was laughin so hard..I don't even think Deco has a CHANCE..please he didn't have nun on Rui let alone Sheva..But judging by the way those luzers vote..I doubt it'll go to Sheva..altho I hope it does *fingers crossed*..I can bet big money that it'll go to Rooney or RVN or any animal along those lines..Just TOO overated.

Forza Sheva

A lot of people are saying Sheva to win it this year, so I wouldn't be surprised if he does

Sheva had another goal today. He is really amazing!
If he could have a great performance in the 2 matches of Milan vs Barca and beat Ronaldiniho, the chance to get Golden Ball will increase alot!

Forza Sheva!!!

Yeah alot of people want him to win..but Fifa is juss *MESSED*..and they're gonna pick a player who had a VERY successfull year..like Rooney at euro 2004..or Adriano at copa america..
But the BEST thing to do..is give the golden ball to Shevchenko

Fifa don't choose the winner. in their award it is the national team coaches that choose and they usually can come with completly hilarious choices while most just vote for the most hyped last year. France football magazine world player of the year is voted by journalists, they have a little better check on things at least.

i predict surprises, after the madini's missed golden ball (who clearly doesn't ruin at all a perfect career) i've lost faith in these awards. it will go to the overrated deco

As I see it usually team's success plays a big part in these awards, and Ukraine NT isn't exactly successful and although Milan won the Scudetto, it was not as grand as the CL for the journalists perhaps. So Sheva probably won't win in that sense, not because he doesn't deserve it. My best bet would probably be Deco taking the title home.

If it was for the trophies Maldini should have 10 golden balls.

They never counted for defenders like paolo or franco baresi, united to amazing performances, then this dwarf from portugal comes and claim to win it.
This award is simply ridiculous, and i hope it will go to the right person this time.
I can understand Ronaldinho or Henry, but def not Deco

Defender's are too underrated when it comes to these things..
And no way in hell is Deco gonna get it..not over my dead body!

Deco doesn't deserve it at all, but I won't be too annoyed if he does win this meaningless trophy
