well, If we don't make any signings in the next few weeks, I see our starting line-up to look a little like this

DIDA

CAFU NESTA KALADZE SERGHINO

GATTUSO PIRLO SEEDORF

KAKA

GILARDINO INZAGHI

This seems like a good squad but seems more comparable to teams like Roma and Liverpool rather than Chelsea and Barcelona. Our midfield is very good and we have a solid central defense, but we need a striker. I'm not to keen of Cafu and Serginho either.

4-3-2-1
This is the best formation in modern football. But you must have solid defence, hard-working defensive midfield, creative attacking midfield and profilic scorer. AC Milan have them.
Ancelotti use this tactic very often, despite his remarks of playing 4-4-2. For this formation to function properly, we need improvment in full-back positions. Cafu is fantastic, but old. Left flank is volatile and fragile. And Kaka' need some help.

i think formation 4-2-3-1 is the best!
on 4-3-2-1 formation, the striker is too isolated.

our first team is good, but we lost Vogel, Ambro( for a lkong time) and an important player like Foggia that can change the tempo of the game and work on the flank. So my formation is....
-------------------------dida---------------------------
--cafu------nesta-----------kaladze--jankulovski
--------------------------pirlo--------------
----------gattuso------------seedorf........
-------------------kaka'---------
----------pippo--------oliveira----------

Of course, that will not happen as Carlo will never give Marek some real chance. One game is not enough for him to come back as his old self. He needs 5 games in a row and some freedom and confidence to be a LB we want him to. Gila could be on the bench simply becouse Pippo us too damn good!! And we need Oliveira to work as a winger at times.

Subs: Bonera, Simic, Maldini, Serginho, Gourcuff...and so on...... pretty weak bench.

there seems to be a chance, albeit a very slim one, that Ambro might be available for the NT's two games for Euro 2008. True, most probably he will be left home but I am guessing that his injury isn't as serious as previously feared.

4-2-3-1 leaves a big gap between the defence and AM's. This formation in four rows is very deep and striker is not far from AM's. This two guys behind will have a tough job transferring the ball. Plus, it's proven successful with Pirlo, Gatusso and Seedorf in 4-3-2-1. Now with Oliveira there is a partner for Kaka'.
And ACM will win every time when full backs provide the attack with enough balls from flanks. That’s this team weakness. Cafu is fantastic, but old for 90 minutes, sunday-wednesday. On the left side, Serginho fails in defence, Kaladze don't make enough successful crosses, Maldini is too old for coming in good shape after recovery, Jankulovsky don't get a chance to play. And, on the other hand, management fails this summer to sign good full backs (Grosso, Zambrotta, Oddo...)

i dont understand why 4-2-3-1 will cause big gap and difficulty transferring the ball. thats your opinion i respect it.
for me 4-2-3-1 formation is the best for milan for this season based on the type of the players we have.
4-3-2-1 will cause difficulty in creating scoring opportunities and we dont have to respect opponents that much to put 4 backline + 3 DM, also it is an insult for the 4 backline to have 3 DM in front of them.

===================== dida
===========cafu nesta maldini serginho
==================gattuso pirlo
===============seedorf kaka gourcuff
====================r oliveira

subs: kalac,bonera,favalli,kaladze,jankulovski, brocchi, inzaghi

note: i dont think ambrosini will be out for long time.

I think the 4-3-1-2 is the best formation at the moment considering the players we have. They are all accustomed to it and once the 3 midfielders do their job both defensively and offensively.. we'll be unstoppable. Also our left & right side midfielders must also be ready to cover for our fullbacks who run up the width of the pitch.

Yes. playing 1 striker and benching 2 quality strikers doesn't seem like a good solution. If you don't want the striker to be isolated, pair him with another striker which we do. As for Kaka, I think he'll be getting plenty of help from Gourcuff. Also with our current formation, I wonder which striker will be benched between Gila, Oli, and Pippo.

I think eventually.. it'll be mainly Gila + Oli, once Gilardino starts scoring.. and hoping Oliveira fits in perfectly.

In my oinion those who have put Paolo Maldini on the bench in their frmaton should be ban for one week on this MM
&
Zeekay's prefared formation is this
4-3-1-2
------------Kalac--------------
------Nesta------Maldini--------
--Cafu-----------------Kaladze--
------------Pirlo-----------------
----Gattuso-----Seedorf---------
------------Kaka----------------
--------Gila------Pippo----------

which is always the best and its simple as that

You say people should be banned for having Maldini on the bench yet you put Kalac in ahead of Dida ... you should probably suffer from your own punishment then

Maldini is great, probably one of the best Milan ever produced, but I doubt he'll be able to perform at the top level any much longer. If he's healthy this year, their is no way in hell Ancelotti will leave him on the bench. The only problem I see in playing Maldini is that It'll probaly push Kaladze on the Left side or Ancelotti will opt to start Serginho on the left. I really enjoyed seeing Kaladze flourish this year at the CB position alongside Nesta. He was by far the most solid and consistent defender we had this year and it would be a shame to leave him out of the 11 or simply push him to another position just to accomodate a player who'll probably finish playing this year.
