well, so far this year he's been one of our most constant performers ... and his wage demands, provided what was mentioned above, can hardly be called excessive. Not to mention that the increase he's asking for is a moderate one - or at least not excessive - and completely within the norm for players, who are negotiating for a new contract - it's like a rule of thumb that a players/workers new contract/job should be an improvement over his previous one in financial terms.
After all the guy is an employee and has to ensure the future of his family ... that's something that comes before anything else, especially considering that his years in football as a high-paid professional are numbered.

Age really doesn't remain an issue with goal keepers -- Zoff, Peruzzi, Van der Sar (former everton gk). Dida at least has 3 or 4 years to be on the top stage. If he just doesn't want to remain with us them the only person who should replace him would be Buffon, who will be extremely difficult to get.

I do agree that we need to replace dida. He is a good goalie, has made some amazing saves, but every game, he makes one great save and one mistake. So far the mistakes haven't been so bad, but I still think he should have done better on Ibrahimovic's shot. Dida is 33 or 34 now so we do need to think of the future. In the summer, I was excited by the prospect of getting Buffon but spending 30 million for a keeper about to be 30 is not very wise. There are good keepers out there. I know Amelia's name comes up a lot, but if we don't get a new keeper next yr, there is much worse than having Dida back in goal, but we should think of a new netminder sooner rather than later. Someone mentioned the fact that he doesn't smile, and I think that he has never shaken off the howler of Leeds back in 2001. I may be wrong but I think that has to do with his disposition.
mzk57, please don't say that Dida ruined your eid. I am muslim also and one the biggest milan fans out there but it's ridiculous to say that a game ruined a religious holiday. Please don't mention religion again in a forum that really at the end of the day, is set up for fun.

If we can keep him, then it would be great I think. It will save us some money to spend on other players. If he wants to leave however, there is some out there that can replace him. Is Amelia better?...I don't know. The only 2 that I think are proven to be better then Dida are Buffon and Cech! Everyone else at this point of time may prove to do a better job, but also there is nothing to prove to us that they won't do worse as well.
That's why, if we can't get Buffon at a reasonable price, then we should probably try to extend Dida's contract and not splash money on any other keeper.
By the way..don't we still own Abbiati as well?

Honestly, I would love to see AC Milan playing without a GK rather the watching Mr.Dida in our goal post .

Were you complaining when he was one of the main reasons when we won the league in 2004? Again, were you this whiney when he was another main reason we progressed in the CL in 2005? For a long period he single handedly kept us in games, some of you have short memories that is for sure. Maybe if the defenders knew how to mark from set-pieces and not gave the opposition so much room, he'd have a better chance of saving shots!

But thats not the reality, the reality is he is not of the AC Milan standard and we could have won all the titles which we lost all these years & the main reason is that we were not playing with someone like Buffon or Cech in our goal

The only reason i would want him replaced is if he isn't going to sign his contract. Having someone like him leave for free would be criminal business wise. If he signs a new contract i have no problem with that at all.

He should actually play free becoz he is a 3rd clas gk and yet he is in the best club side of Europe, its really amazing , so wasting the time on making a deal with him is not a good idea
