This Milan team is finished...or is it?

This has been one terrrible year! Good God, the bad things never ends for this team. We missed out on the chance of winning the Serie A last season due to the poor judgment by the management (they wanted to focus on the champions league with Barcelona in the way); got eliminated by Barcelona so we once again won nothing for the year. Then it was the summer, and the departure of our beloved Shevchenko for the bigger paycheck signed by Chelsea, this move cost us our best striker since Van Basten and our focal point on offense; the Calciopolli scandal soon followed. We damn near lost our chance to play in the champions league or for that matter the Serie A altogether. In the end of that issue, we got screwed by being the only team that didn't get a reduction on penalties. After that, we had our transfer market failure in which we missed out near 20 players that could've helped us get back to the top. I have written several posts blasting the management and their incompetence, so I won't be going into specific details on this one. We started off the season just fine, and then had trouble beating any opponent we faced. Let's face it, losing to teams like Lille and Atlanta is flat out unforgivable no matter how you justify it. Not to mention our record breaking number of hitting the woodworks in games. This team did as terrible as any Milan team did in Serie A history this season and our chances of winning the champions league is very slim considering the competition we are going to be facing. Just when things are starting to turn a little brighter as our retarded management finally realized what they did over the summer and opened up their damn wallets for Oddo, a central defender and Iaquinta, something new came out. Just when we were about to wrap up the signing of Iaquinta using Borriero as part of the deal, the idiot is going to get suspended for drug problems. Although he is not the same player he once was, this guy is still a key part of the entire Iaquinta deal. Losing him puts a new doubt about our capability of acquiring the guy who can solve our attacking problems. On top of that, the signing of Oddo is still high up in the air since Lazio is demanding way too much for the guy. By the way, is it just me or does letting Foggia be part of the deal a very dumb mistake? We might save 4 mil in cash, but we lose yet another promising young star just like we did with Oddo, Toldo and others. We certainly can use a guy like him to play the wing for us.
Anyway, I am not here to complain about things again. I just have one question, why the hell is the luck of this team so bad this year? I mean, it has been one disaster following another. Every single terrible thing that can possibly happen to our team happened in the same year. Nothing has been going our way this entire year. I personally cannot wait for this year to be over so the luck can change at least a little bit. I mean, things couldn't possibly get worse anyway.

Yes you are.... here to complain, otherwise you wouldnt have written this post. Stuff happens and to be honest, none of this really affects your life at all. If it does, you need to go get a new life friend.
Besides... is there not pride in what this great club has already? If you cannot find satisfaction in what we have already in prestige, then you cannot truly appreciate the best that is yet to come. A lesson to be learned, and quickly.

Is it not because of our glorious past that we expect things to always go our way? A period of struggle is a good thing; we will emerge stronger and the hunger will return.
A player like Kaka doesn't need luck; he surpasses it through his determination (and not to mention skill).
I will accept that we have been unlucky because of injuries, but not because of hitting the post (it is the player who controls where the ball goes).

Please don't refer to the time between Van Basten and Sheva as if Weah never existed.

you know what my tearful friend, next time you again decide to phantom your way into MM and tell us how depressed and worthless your life is, do us a favour and use the already existing threads instead of starting a new one every time you feel like it.

4 years on, and we are still not finished. Warro, pls start showing some faith in the team like you did in 06/07 CL. Forza Milan!!!.... Regardless.

Difficult to do, when we have an owner who is ensuring that we act in accordance with Platini´s still to be established directive of buying players that are actually within the club´s means, as opposed to acting like the sugar-daddy we have all come to know and love.

In truth, he is doing the right thing by keeping purchases withing the club´s ability to pay, but one has to question some of the aquisitions..........:d3:....and even more importantly, those we failed to buy.

I think that he should be doing the sugar-daddy thing at present, while he still can, but in a very specific sense...that is in buying young players en masse....this because for every 3 young prospects you buy, maybe only 1 will turn into the genuine article.

But while this approach is risky, what it does is:

a) reduces the average age of the team
b) gives us players who, via unfullfilled promise/youth have a reasonable resale value
c) forms the foundation of a new team structure....

Couple this with investment in the youth team structure...and we would be basically adopting the Barca/Arsenal model, while retaining those "stars" who we purchased for a pittance, and selling on those that didnt fulfill their potential.

This though, isnt happening...Yepes anyone?

So, right now, I remain pragmatic, yea, even pessimistic at times, as even in the short term, we could lose Leo to the Brazil national set-up, a coach who IMO has wonderful potential to become a class act as he gains experience.

Too much uncertainty surrounds our short to medium term prospects for me to be optimistic about our chances of continuing to be a strong club, while the long term situation is quite frightening actually...

when you put it like that, there's nt much too be optimistic about. i why Berlusconi seems to have lost interest.

As the old cliche goes football is about cycles. We ended one cycle last season and this season was inevitably going to be incredibly hard. The only highlight for me was the victory over RM in Spain. But it's onwards and upwards from here.
