Ricardo Oliveira was really poor against Roma, so I'm not sure if he starts against Bayern. Both Jankulovski and Oddo didn't play against Roma today, are they injuried or just were they just resting?

Glad we were able to pull a draw out of this one. Some people here really need to see a doctor about how worked up they get around match time. I mean some posts were rather...disappointing(for lack of a better word)

^Are you kidding? Come to R&B and see everyone get in a tizzy about Ronaldo's 30-yard dash or whatever it was, and pick it apart piece by piece.

Two weeks between Milan games is absolute hell.

Alright guys, this is our next game. Thank god Maldini, Marek and Oddo will be back so we wont see Favalli, Simic and Cafu in defence. That defence wouldn't even pass for Serie B. Since we play home first, and in the Ancelotti era we have struggled really badly when playin knockout phases away in the 2nd leg, I think we should try to really kill them from the first leg. We have to be wary not to conceed any goals because they will hurt. I wish we win by 2 or 3 goals to zero. Then when we score in Bayern they will need 4 or 5 goals.

BAD NEWS:
- We have no strikers on form!! Gila has been bad for a while but had an unusual ok game against Roma even though he missed a sitter
- Pippo hasn't played in a while, who knows if he's match fit
- Oliveira thinks he's playin street football and wants to shoot from kick-off, corner flags, throwins, everywhere..
- Dida's form isnt exactly the one we were hoping it to be
- Maldini has a recurring injury, it might cost us dearly if he gets injured early in the game
- Seedorf plays as slow as ever
- Kaka will have played 4 games in a week (i think?), im afraid of an injury coming around the corner..we are using him far too much..

GOOD NEWS:
- Nesta IS BACK and had a good performance against Roma.
- Kaka is playin well
- Oddo, Janku, Bonera are fresh and should be able to start
- We're playin home first
- We will not see Favalli/Cafu runnin up the flanks for us
- Van Bommel/Kahn suspended (altho i wudda liked it if Kahn played, so Pippo would woop him again)

I'm all in a flumux as to who i would pick for this game. Bayern are strong in midfield, so we know we have to counter that by picking either Ambrosini or Brocchi in place of Seedorf. Given his aerial threat i would plump for Ambrosini.

Subsequently this would mean two people (Gourcuff & Oliveira) fighting it out for the final spot. Purely for the fact he showed more spark in his brief cameo than Oliveira did during his 70 odd minutes, Gourcuff gets my vote.

CB is the only other real concern. Can Nesta play 2 games in such a short space of time? Likewise is Maldini fit enough to go against Bayern?

My team would be: Dida, Jankulovski, Nesta, Bonera, Oddo, Ambrosini, Pirlo, Gattuso, Gourcuff, Kaka, Gilardino

I would hope the solid platform of Ambrosini & Gattuso would push Pirlo forward a bit more. Given Seedorf's creative demise, i'd prefer to see Pirlo 25-35 yards from the opposition goal firing in some shots and playing neat triangle passes with Gourcuff & Kaka rather than sitting really deep trying to hit some long wonder passes that probably won't come off as we don't have the runners.

I also hope Oddo plays like he did against Scotland, at least attacking wise. He was pretty good in that game. Both full-backs will however need to be wary of Schwienstieger, he's the player i fear the most. We need to be alert and if we do that we have a good chance of keeping a clean sheet.

I also hope Serginho might be fit for a cameo, he always gives Bayern nightmares

I've been around R&B long enough to know that reading those match threads is the punishment that should be given to criminals on death row.

both Janku and Oddo were rested and they should be available for the Bayern game, as well as maldini and Ambro.

I would start with that team too with one change though - maldini will most probably be fit for Bayern, so chances are he will start alongside nesta in CD and not Bonera.
Other than that, I think a X-tree at home is the way to go as we keeping a clean sheet is imperative in these tournaments, I think, especially when playing home first.

Not sure however if Nesta would be able to keep up with the same tempo from the Roma game as this would be his second game in 3 days and I am not sure he is fit enough after 3+ months on the sidelines.

have a feeling Sergio will be on the bench

I've a very good feeling about this game. I think/hope for an all-Italian semi-final.

What about Bayern ?
They are flying high after the 2:0 win over Schalke yesterday. Now they are only 6 pts behind the first placed team and their chances for winning the league are growing.

2 very important players, Kahn and Van Bommel, won't play at San Siro but there is still enough material to cause problems to Milan.

Rensing will probably replace Kahn
Sagnol at RB and Lahm at LB are almost certain. Maybe they aren't better but they are at least on par with Milan's full backs.
Central defenders may be their weakest link and they may be their best part . That's the way Lucio and Van Buyten play. We've seen many times how dangerous Lucio can be from set pieces and i've seen Van Buyten playing Nesta like many times this season - like a rock, but sometimes he makes bad and costly errors.

Sub. defenders : Ismael, Görlitz, Lell, Hummels - You can see they don't have adequate replacements for their defenders !

Midfielders :
Demichelis will replace Van Bommel and this is where i see Milan's chance. He'll be Kaka's direct guard, he'll have defensive duties and i doubt we'll see him up front a lot, like we would have seen the Dutchman if he wasn't suspended. Even defensive wise i rate him as weaker player than Van Bommel.
Hasan Salihamidzic-Brazzo - The moment Hitzfeld took over Bayern, Brazzo became the good old one. Imo, he's Bayern's best player lately. He rules the right side of the field, assists a lot and even scores. Jankulovski will have many problems with the future Juventino
Owen Hargreaves - shares the same position with Salihamidzic so i don't know what will Hitzfeld decide to do. Hargreaves can play in center midfield also and maybe that's where he'll find himself on Tuesday.
Bastian Schweinsteiger. Hot-Cold performances from him this year. He can be lethal with his long range shots but he can be invisible for 90 minutes and get the worst player award.

Sub. midfielders : Mehmet Scholl - The oldy can still be dangerous. He can't play 90 mins and he always comes as a sub.
Andreas Ottl . Yesterday i saw this guy for the first time in my life and he was a pleasant suprise.
Ali Karimi - nothing special
Stephan Fürstner - i never heard about this guy and i never watched him play

Attack :
Roy Makaay - Another hot-cold guy. But you all know how dangerous and lethal he can be.
Claudio Pizzaro - Superb sub - scores a lot
Lucas Podolski - I never liked him but he has a habbit of scoring against big teams
Roque Santa Cruz - good sub.

You can see Bayern ain't no piece of cake. On a bad day ( which they're having a lot this year, just like Milan) everyone can beat them. But on a good day they are world class.
Lets not forget they've beaten Inter in Milano earlier this year and they would have beaten them again in Munich if Vieira didn't score a 91st minute goal.

I give the advantage to Milan here and i can see Milan in the semis. But it's a small 51-49 advantage.

Bayern is tricky, very very tricky.
