In fact the problem with Oddo is that he was a starter, he played more than Favalli so we noticed his mistakes more.
I agree that he was great at Lazio and I was a big fan of signing him in Jan 2006, but later he turned to be a flop, he could show any thing especial or even ordinary his performance was below average and Milan fans' gave him excuse in his first season as he arrived in the middle of the season and didn't have enough time to adapt to the system but this season he has no excuse he was given time to adapt and play and just cost us too many point and was useless, won't say a liability just not to upset his fans if they exist. Oddo has to go if Milan is to compete for the Scudetto next year he can't do his main job which are defending (his positioning is awful) and crossing (just wastes his teammates effort by kicking the ball out of the pitch) so keeping him in the squad is a step back as he will continue his form, do you know why? Because he doesn't understand that he was awful, he, just a few days ago, said that he is depressed because Donadoni didn't choose him to euro 2008 and that he feel that he 2 years of hard working were just wasted! If some one doesn't see his/her mistakes then he/she will improve and this is exactly the case with Oddo ( and some one else on the bench who I won't mention his name now ).As for favalli, I have never been a fan of him and I was very upset when we signed him and more upset when we renewed his contract and couldn't understand the point of giving him an extra year in Milan.I just hate them both, cant stand watching them on the filed blame them for any bad result, and blaming them for making the teammates look worse not just in defense but also in offense, I just feel angry when I see Rino running like crazy just to cover the area that favalli left behind him or getting back the ball and giving it to Oddo just to give in it away again. Such player depress their teammates and you can easily notice this when Kaka or Pirlo see both oddo/ Favalli unmarked and prefer to pass the ball to some one else as they know that Favalli/Oddo + the ball = failure and waste. They are the main reason the Gattuso didn't run or perform as usual this, he has a point to be honest, why bother running to get the ball just to give it to Oddo and favalli to give to the rivals again. They are the main reason that Milan missed the CL and play in the losers cup next year. They are responsable for our bad for during the entire year and for giving those blue and black idiots the chance to mock us all the time. Did I explain my point? I disagree, EL Fre he is very good in one on one situations but his positioning is far from being acceptable so his defense is not good either.

sorry hany i agree with _Ace....
he's good in defense, maybe he was a bit on the wrong foot from time to time but overall he's a solid defender.... the main problem is his crossing, but as Ace says, maybe he can "re-learn" that... i would keep him on the bench, play zambro on the right and janku on the left.... if they got injured play oddo and grimi or favalli as last resort |

Ok lets bet on that ( if he started making good crosses again, I will write some like that Ace is the boss and he is always right
) and if he, as expected, didn't you right this but onlt after changing the name ![]() |

The problem is that Janku truned to be very prone to injuries lately so if we paly with both Zambro and Janku and Oddo to replace them if any of them is not ready means that he will play a lot as Carlo will never depend on 20 years old Grimi and will choose to have Zambrota in the left and oddo in the right.

THey are responsible for our bad during the year, but I'm not ready to say that they are totaly responsible. They are but just one factor. Regarding the other factor, let's leave it to other times (examples include GIla's failure, R99's injury, Pato's late arrival, Kaka's injury, Gattuso's fading, Pirlo seems always tired etc.) As someone else explained, his defense is actually good. If you look at his grumbling agains Donadoni about not entering Euro2008, it's because he said that he contributed greatly to the whole progress and wasn't able to perform with top gear because of physical fitness that, he believes (and I believe) can be caught up once he doens't get injured often. Even at the end of the league campaign, he was never fully recovered, and Ancelotti had no choice but to force playing him because we don't have enough squad depth. Carlo eventually introduced Cafu, who probably couldn't play more than 45minutes nowadays, who did a much better job because Cafu was in his last game and was also more fit for sure than an just-come-back-from-injury Oddo. We'll see how it goes. For now, Zambrotta is a great addition, but if MIlan is to play in CL eventually we need to have more than just Zambrotta. Oddo (his old self) and Zambrotta (his old self) will be perfect. Cheers - J

A slight correction Jeff, Oddo is a "world champion" who played 10 minutes of an already won game and not a minute more. Zaccardo, Grosso and Zambrotta played whole WC.

Thanks mrki for the correction.
And Zaccardo's goal is the only way to beat the world-class Buffon? ![]() |

TO say that Oddo cannot defend is like saying Pirlo cannot pass the ball.
I believe Oddo was injured and was never 100% fit last year. When he was close to 100%, you could see that on the pitch, as he made good runs down the flank. Having said that, he really needs to work on his crossing if he wants to be more than a squad player in Milan. |

Our problems are that Jankulovski and Oddo are now bothe over 30 and obviousely injured players. We need to have that in mind for the next season as well...
Last time Italy got two goals past Buffon, now when Zaccardo is gone it will be only 1 untill they win it ![]()
