You can't judge a goalkeeper purely on statistics, ie number of goals conceded. Even Buffon would concede tons of goals if it wasn't for his defenders.
Abbiati this year has been awesome. He is everything Dida isn't. Good in the air, fast off his line, shouts at his defenders---I think he's doing great. |

For names being mentioned, we have Rijkaard (I do still question him) and bring in someone like Ten Caat as his assistant and we're talking a very serious coaching team there. Prandelli is a great coach and I'm sure he can aim to coach a top side (is he willing to leave Fio right now though). Then there's Spalletti, who is another excellent coach, but has struggled this season at Roma and so may be willing to move feeling his time there is coming to an end.
I still think we should very seriously consider Rafa Benitez. The guy is one of the most underrated coaches around. His footballing philosophy is close to Sacchi which would suit Milan well (never mind he knows our club as he trained under Sacchi) and at Liverpool he's performed wonders considering the side he got to start with. Some will point to his lack of success in the League, but we must remember he's had a very weak squad to work with over the years and still there are many doubts surrounding the backing he gets compared to other big English clubs. Right now his squad is stronger than it used to be, but compared to the current United it's no where near the same level. At Milan we may not be the strongest squad around, but he will have more to work with than he gets in Liverpool. I think the fact he's managed to go through the last 2 years with Liverpool directors at each others throats and still come out looking respectable is a big bonus. Finally, he's still locked in contract negotiations and his future at Liverpool looks in doubt right now, a good opportunity for us to look to make contact. |

I think Milan should keep Ancellotti, if the minimun requirements set by the club are reached. That is the 3rd place in the table.
At the beginning of the season the club requirements were higher, but circumstances had changed during the tournament which were beyond the coach responsibility. I am referring to the prolonged and severe injury problems which effected 8/9 players from the 1st 11. There were times that players had to play unfit or injured because of the lack of players in certain positions. Also aged players like Maldini had to play 3 games in a week. Milan management are not stupid but great professionals, if not the greatest. How could someone think even in the most remote way that such a professional club like Milan will leave a person in such a key position as the coach, if they think he is not the right person? My friends, by sitting on the sofa watching a football match every week while drinking a bottle of cold beer will not make us qualified people. Even if some of us have a knowledge in coaching still cannot talk like they are "OMNIPOTENTI". You MUST live with the squad to know, understand and judge a coach on certain decisions. |

[quote=Siregar;526295]If we use this philosopy, there will be no need to make a forum to discuss Milan as WE DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT MILAN. They (Galliani, Ancelotti, etc.) are the one who know Milan. We are only humans who pretend knowing what the inside of Milan.[/QUOTE
No you are wrong. We can say what we think. Discuss when we cannot understand certain decisions, but in my opinion I feel SHY to say certain statements like Ancellotti is stupid, He is not Milan material or he plays only his friends. For example I can say that Kalazde played bad matches this season, because it is a fact which everybody can see, but I cannot say Kalazde is a joke! Simply because 1. He is not a joke. 2. In past seasons he played well, so my logic says that there is another reason why he was not playing well. 3. I heard him saying on TV that this year he did not played up to standard because he played injured. |

So do you want him to stay? I need to know what would be the last straw for you to join the rest of this board and want a new coach? All i know is Carlo is the one who picks the starting XI we dont Jeff. With a roster of 20 something players its his job to see whats happening with players (injuries, tactical, etc) Our team should be a young team with very little mixture of veteran help Antonini------Senderos-------Maldini--------Zambrotta ---------Pirlo-----Flamini--------R80 -----------------Kaka------------ -----------Pato---------Sheva/Pippo Simple mixture i threw this together something might be off but i hope you get my idea. Im not saying we have a team this year that could of won the CL but Uefa cup i was hopeful and seria a in my mind was going to be a race till the last day ( im not saying we were 100% winners) If we bring 5 new younger players in the summer are you telling me Seedorf, Pirlo, Favali, Ambro, etc oldder players will sit on the bench for them? How many games have our Uruguayian players played? Please Jeff just say it like you see it, our coach has favorites and thats that .

there is no denying that ancelotti is the best this business can offer BUT in milan's case he is hurting the team. i would take ancelotti over any other coach IF 1- STOP the favourism among the squad 2- Being able to approach the game in a better way 3- bring back gourcuff and offer him a fair chance 4- realise that some players are no longer needed in the starting XI i.e. kaladze, ambrosini, janku(LB), seedorf why not rijkard? or leonardo or spaletti or prandalli? when we first got ancelotti he was not an impressive coach, he had a 3 terrible seasons at UV then in the first year at milan he played the most boring, defensive football you can possibly imagine, all the cups and league won was at milan i prefer to have some doubts over any coach who is gonna start from the scratch (squad, transfers and tactics) than having a blind faith about milan will keep the same coach and automatically we will keep the same useless players and we will renew to favalli and maldini and we will keep defending deep due to our lack to pace and above all our play an style will be predictable and goalless by the end of february if not earlier just to confirm ancelotti is gonna play ambrosini over flamini do you think its fair to bench flamini for godsake?

The key question for me is not so much about 'what would be the last straw for you to join the rest of this board and want a new coach'. The key question for me is to think about how to improve the squad with less injury, more energetic and hungry players, and more consistency in both Serie A and CL. If we are to change, we have to do it in a deeper scale. Change the coach, some of the players, and bring in MORE players. That's the point I'm trying to bring into. It's more than just 1 person and things will all of a sudden fix itself. The solution should be comprehensive, not responsive. I am mute on whether Ancelotti should stay or not. To me, that's a wrong question to ask. The right question to ask is: What should Milan do to change as a whole? Changing the coach is perhaps one of the many ways, but it's not the only way. By limiting ourselves to finding just one individual responsible for the downfall, we inevitably commit the same mistake that we have been making. *** Re: your comment on your coach has favorite, it may be equivalent to say that the coach's system favors certain individuals: just like it favors players like Seedorf and Beckham (who is doing much better than Seedorf anyway in an AMC role from the one game he played) and dis-favor players like Gilardino. I also wonder: By fielding the players that we fans want, is it what the coach supposed to do? If we field players who are our favorites due to age etc. aren't we committing the same favoritism that Ancelotti has over Seedorf? *** Insisting on changing the coach is fine; but I suspect it won't and shouldn't be the only way to fix Milan. Because it's not going to fix it. Change is fine, and important, but you have to change in the right way. *** Your formation looks OK to me, but by no way they are world-class. We know Maldini, and we know Senderos. We know Pato was out injured for a couple of weeks in the mid-season, and now Kaka` and R80 has been out for more than a month. Antonini maybe a useful squad player but never a first team player (that's my impression). I'm not sure about Pirlo. With only Flamini to cover Pirlo, who is rather weak defensively, the defense you propose will be extremely prone to attack. I'm very surprised to see that Gattuso is missing from your squad. To me, Gattuso is still way better than Flamini (at least at this stage). I do not know if you include or exclude injury players, because if you would like to include the injured players in the squad, I don't see Gattuso missing. If you would not like to include the injured players in the squad, then R80 and Kaka` shouldn't feature. *** Gotta run ... Last edited by Jeff; 14-03-2009 at 12:09. |

Carlo requested Flamini?
And then made him 4th DM in Milan, in line AFTER Gattuso, Pirlo and AMBROSINI. Now when half the team is out Flamini plays, yes. He laso played with Pirlo out. But when they are all fit, Flamini is on the bench. He never requested Flamini, he got Flamini from Galliani.
