I don't see why a broken bone in his hand should stop him playing, it's not like he's playing in goal! Players have worn face masks before to protect their skulls and he's worried about a bone in his hand?! Here's a thought, just don't take any throw-ins!

well, football is a contact sport and there are many tackles to be taken.
so, Jim, could you give Naka some advice how to fall on the ground or meet the onrushing opponent - hands first or head/neck first - when someone is challenging or tackling him

how about using his other hand or just rolling over if he falls down!

yeah but that involves lots of ifs, you know ... when someone throws you and spins you in the air, you don't have much luxury to chose how you land or how hard.
And in an attempt to protect his hand during a fall, the player could hurt his neck, back, dislocate the shoulder by having all his weight on one hand only and so on.
Also, an opponent could just bump into his hand and who knows what could happen then.

All in all, it's not safe for him, although I expect him to play because without him Celtic's chances of threatening on anything other than the occasional corner kick are close to none.

if it wasn't safe for him why do players play with facial injuries?

It's just a hand injury, it's not a major deal!

they don't play with facial injuries other than a small cut and only if the blood is stopped, otherwise the ref won't allow him to continue.
As for those who play with protective masks ... those are protective masks used just in case but only when the injury/broken bones have already healed up ... those masks are there as a precautionary measure, not to protect an injury that's still there, still healing.

Also, I'd guess that in such situations, the player's opinion is also very important and hardly any player would say no in a situation like this one. As for the doctors, it's an injury to the hand, not a life threatening one, so if it's a minor one, like a small crack or something, for all they care is put it in a cast and let him play if that's what the player and the club wants.
I guess it would all depend on the extent of the injury - whether it's broken, cracked or whatever, but if the whole bone was broken, then I doubt they'd let him play no matter what ...

I cannot believe that u guys so worried abt the freekicks of Mr.Nakamura We will not concide any goals unless we have Kalac in the goal. But if Dida plays then I can asure u all that Celtic will score 2 goals We should be more worried abt whose palying in the goal for us than looking after whose missing for Celtic

Whatever the reason is but when Kalac plays we mostly win or atleast draw and only sometimes lose . But when ur LEGENDARY, THE BRAVE GK, Mr. NELSON DIDA plays we mostly lose & only sometimes a draw. Victory with Dida is some thing now I would call 'a miracle' . Dont believe me?? Check the AC Milan win record this season u will surely find out that facts.
But 4 ur satisfaction let me say that this whole situation has got some super natural stuff with it and u cant deny super natural things and luck in soccer e.g Istanbul night , Man Utd winning CL & England winning vs Argentine in late 2005 and 2002 WC

Dida is THE reason we WON the CL in '03. His form was fantastic for '04 as well.

Correction plz . He was ONE OF THE reasons in that CL after Tomasson, Maldini, Nesta, Pirlo, Gattuso and Inzaghi. And in 2004 Paolo and Nesta were onfire so when they are playing well its immpossible 2 go beyind them and score . U could say that our Giant GK wasnt seriously tested that season

but This season he has been GREAT....

uve fans usually make fun of us when it comes to the goal keeping department and we cant do any thing abt it, its shame for us. But I guess the gap will close when we get Igor Akinfeev next season
