It's, btw, quite the same for now. If we buy Gerrard (this is just an example, don't take it litterally... It's only meant to make my explanation clear) now, he will not be eligible for CL, as he has played the preliminary rounds with Liverpool against Haifa.

so

in: gourcruff, bonera, and oliveira

out: sheva, rui costa, and the oldest backline in football gets a little older.

plus we start 8 behind everyone else. yes, we are certainly making positive strides to improve our fortunes this year.

Acording to Berlusconi ( who, just to notice, has gone insane! ), we are "dreaming" of Ronaldinho, and reports still say we have 60mil pounds to offer to Barca. well...impossible is nothing. for 60mil pounds we can imediately sign alves, gallas and torres.

I like Alves a lot, but that's a pretty strong statement.

So you think he is better than Cafu, Thuram and Zambrotta in their primes?

he isnt better than Cafu, or Zambrotta. ( Cafu > Zambrotta ). But this guy can cross perfectly( every game I've seen him ), his technique and strenght are impressive, and he can run all day long. He cant defend like Thuram, of course, but he defends ok. For sure, better player than Cicinho. His price is now 20mil for sure, and that means Millan will not go for him

Daniel Alves is amazing!! If Alvez will be better than Cafu, only the time will tell...I folow Cafu sinsce it played as mid an second foward in Sao paulo team, and Cafu at 23 wasn´t better than Alves...and I´m a BIG fan of Cafu.
Alves only need to go for BIG club...
BTW Alves was the MOM today in UEFA Super Cup game...

...and the MVP of 2005/2006 UEFA Cup
http://www.uefa.com/competitions/Sup...Id=449019.html

...and Dunga called Cicinho and Maicon to RB in Brazil NT

Two things:
1) I would love to add Dani Alves. Im relieved he didnt join Liverpool, and its great to know he is brasilian. Obviously a plus when you are talking Milan...and when you are talking defensive backs.

2) Theres no way that Cafu > Zambrotta. At least not TODAY.

The original premise, however, was that sheva-gila believes that Alves is the best right back he's ever seen -- now, in the present and already. When you're talking about the concept of ever you have to consider the other players in their primes. Cafu, in his prime, was the best of all these, although you are correct that he's not today.

Alves, of course, might someday be the best of all, but I don't think he's matched Cafu's best so far.
