Question: Where is Carlo playing Gourcuff? As a left sided midfielder alongside Pirlo and Gattuso, or as a offensive midfielder next to Kaka? I always feel that his qualities suit a more offensive position. Any thoughts?

Carlo has played Gourcuff everywhere that is possible. LM, AM, CM, RM. He can fit pretty much anywhere. Carlo himself is probably unsure as to where exactly to stick the guy.

As Mystik said Carlo's played him everywhere. I personally think his best role is in Seedorf's position next to Kaka, but his versatility will be useful (I just hope he sticks to a single role eventually as I think that's when he'll really make an impact).

Agreed. I also feel that his best or rather most natural position would be as an offensive midfielder next to Kaka behind the single striker. The guy's got great technical ability, can beat men on the dribble, and excellent passing range. From what I have seen of him on the left of our midfield three (next to Pirlo and Gattuso), I feel most of his qualities are wasted as he keeps having to track back and do defensive duties.

My only hope is that he gets games this year, and hopefully they are games where he plays as an OM---and then we can judge whether he has what it takes...

IMO Gourguff will be targeting the position of Seedorf, connecting the mid and attack, drop to the flanks and pass, or take long shot. His passing is better than Seedorf, but he lack positioning and strength compare to the dutch.

Few can do Kaka's job, dribbling the ball into net, neither Gourcuff.

With Emerson's landing and a more forward position of Pirlo, I see Milan's new tactic, with 3 trequarstisti on field and 1.5 on bench, including Pato. In this mean JB's chance of joining would be slim, and no more full backs will come, as the attacking force will be sufficient, so more defensive guys like Simic and Bonera can rotate with Oddo and Janku, even if Cafu and Sergio can nolonger be relied on.

I say Seedorf gets the majority of starts, but also
spell Clarence with Gourcuff. I would also start Yoann
against the lesser Serie A clubs. It will keep him
interested and Seedorf fresh for the Champions League.
Remember injuries and suspensions are always an issue
with such a long season, so there is nothing wrong with
having plenty of talent and depth.

I remember lots of Rossoneri were calling for Seedorf's
head mid-season last year and look how he came up huge
in near the end of the Serie A season and in the CL.

I think, Milan could use Gourcuff safer if Milan play Ambro as left MC, Emerson as DMC and Gourcuff as right MC. With Emerson being used in Pirlo's position and Oddo plays on the right side, our defence looks like stronger than if Gourfcuff plays on the left of MC with Janku as left fullback, Pirlo and Gattuso the other MCs.
