I stick to what I have posted before, whether or not he actually requested a player or not, he is not making the best use of what he has. Whether it be as starters or subs.

It doesnt matter if he requested him or not, in fact for his sake its better he didnt request him coz he never used him in when he had the players i mentioned. So to request someone and not play him is even worse.

Then there's Spalletti, who is another excellent coach, but has struggled this season at Roma and so may be willing to move feeling his time there is coming to an end.

I still think we should very seriously consider Rafa Benitez. The guy is one of the most underrated coaches around. His footballing philosophy is close to Sacchi which would suit Milan well (never mind he knows our club as he trained under Sacchi) and at Liverpool he's performed wonders considering the side he got to start with. Some will point to his lack of success in the League, but we must remember he's had a very weak squad to work with over the years and still there are many doubts surrounding the backing he gets compared to other big English clubs. Right now his squad is stronger than it used to be, but compared to the current United it's no where near the same level. At Milan we may not be the strongest squad around, but he will have more to work with than he gets in Liverpool. I think the fact he's managed to go through the last 2 years with Liverpool directors at each others throats and still come out looking respectable is a big bonus. Finally, he's still locked in contract negotiations and his future at Liverpool looks in doubt right now, a good opportunity for us to look to make contact.
There's no denying that Rafael Benitez is a good coach, what he's achieved with Liverpool is good considering the weak squad, but I don't think he's the right man for us. They've been terrible in the league and the year they won CL they finished 5th, and only made it through the CL group stage in the last round, not really very impressive.

If you look at Liverpool under Benitez, the kind of football they play is probably the exact oposite of what we play. They depend on a strong defence, and hard workers, and don't really care much for keeping possession. It's boring, and i'd hate to see Milan play like that. With the kind of players we have, Pirlo, Kaka, Ronaldinho and Pato who all shine when we have the ball, but doesn't offer as much when the other team has the ball, having a coach that plays like Benitez wouldn't work. Ofcourse he'd have to try another approach than what he has at Liverpool, but can he really do that? Is he flexible enough to coach the exact oposite kind of football than he does now?

I think we shouldn't look to much on credentials, but rather who could succeed with the kind of squad we have now? It's clear we need someone that can motivate the players, don't have favorites, and who's not afraid (is allowed) to bench the stars if they don't perform. But also a coach who doesn't play to far away from our current tactical approach.

Ancelotti didn't always play in the same way ... (he changed while in Milan, but it was also different from what he did before).

Don't forget that Benitez coached Valencia and he didn't play like that too ...

Coaches can change their way to coach depending on their players.

Anyway, I'm not a fan of Benitez, but I just wanted to clear that !! ^^

there is no denying that ancelotti is the best this business can offer BUT in milan's case he is hurting the team.
i would take ancelotti over any other coach IF

1- STOP the favourism among the squad
2- Being able to approach the game in a better way
3- bring back gourcuff and offer him a fair chance
4- realise that some players are no longer needed in the starting XI i.e. kaladze, ambrosini, janku(LB), seedorf

why not rijkard? or leonardo or spaletti or prandalli?

when we first got ancelotti he was not an impressive coach, he had a 3 terrible seasons at UV then in the first year at milan he played the most boring, defensive football you can possibly imagine, all the cups and league won was at milan

i prefer to have some doubts over any coach who is gonna start from the scratch (squad, transfers and tactics) than having a blind faith about milan will keep the same coach and automatically we will keep the same useless players and we will renew to favalli and maldini and we will keep defending deep due to our lack to pace and above all our play an style will be predictable and goalless by the end of february if not earlier

just to confirm ancelotti is gonna play ambrosini over flamini do you think its fair to bench flamini for godsake?
Actually, I thought Carlo was a good coach before he came to Milan. He was unfortunate at Juve and did great at Parma. I thought we were a little unfair to Terim though. However, I definitely don't agree Carlo's the best in the business even with the changes you suggested.

True, they were terrible in the league and it can't be denied. However, let's look at the bigger picture and compare the squad they had to that of the other sides in the PL. They were pathetic in all honesty, and we really showed how weak they are in the final despite losing. In fact, the only reason they won was Rafa made some superb tactical changes during the match. I think both times we've faced them, Rafa has tactically outmatched Carlo.

As Geotav says, before coming to us Carlo used to play incredibly defensive and dull football. You use what you have in the end, and Rafa doesn't have a great deal of quality in his squad especially if you took Gerrard out of the previous sides. Even now you look at the squad he has to work with and although it's improved a lot, it still has a long way to go to be a top quality side.

I don't see why Rafa can't succeed with the squad we have now. We have technical players in abundance, but also a reasonable balance. The defence needs work, but it would be hoped that should he come this summer, he can seriously consider Thiago Silva and will have another couple of new defenders to work with. As for motivating, it seems to me Rafa is probably a pretty good motivator considering the reaction he's gotten from players in Liverpool and he can't have favourites at Milan as he's never worked with this group of players. As for tactical setup, everyone has their own ideas on how to get the best out of what they have. At Milan we have a lot of technical players and thus it would be up to Rafa to get the best out of them. However, as Geotav says, the football Rafa's Valencia played was different to his Liverpool as he got a very technical squad and there in 3 years he won to La Ligas (and a UEFA cup, so not necessarily a bad coach for the league) before he moved to Liverpool and won CL in his first year.

I agree on that. His questionable transfer record apart, he's a very good manager who's capable of both very exciting and very dull football. Valencia under him was simply beautiful with quick one touch passing and lot of team work and player movement. Valencia hasn't been the same since he left.

At Liverpool, he's been largely criticised for being boring and lacking ideas (which is invariably true) but they have been very good to watch on many occasions. When the game is open, they attack and do it well. But they are unbearable to watch specially when facing packed defenses. Completely lacking creativity and the ability to break-through a defense. His often negative attitude also drags 'pool down.

Rafa once said that before the game starts, half the work is done. That's where I think is where his biggest problem lies.

It seems to me that Rafa is a great coach for tournament play or for that one big game. But he doesn't seem to be well-suited for the grind of an entire season. I think you're right that his negative attitude is a hinderance. And his Liverpool teams do seem to have a Jekyll and Hyde personality. I'm not sure he would be a good fit for Milan.

Please look at my post in regard to his history, in particular his time at Valencia.

Cool

For those who think Carlo should stay.
If you want to see ACM winning UCL next season, with World Club Cup, Super Cup etc, the fine let Carlo stays with ACM, because he can deliver them. But if you want to see ACM as Italian Champs, then forget it. Carlo don't have what it takes to win a league. He can out class Old Fergie, but runs out of ideas against the bottom half teams of Serie-A.
If you wanna see:
- ACM winning UCL, Let Carlo stay.
- ACM winning Serie A, Bring some one like Rajkaard, Mancini etc.
- ACM winning UCL + Scudetto, then just bring on Jose Mourinho

I am 100% sure that Jose would pick ACM ahead of Inter at any time. I remember him using good words for ACM in his time with Chelsea, iterviews etc in CL matches.

For those who think Rafa Benitez is good for ACM
Rafa Benitez is the MOST lucky person I have ever seen concerned with football. Its a miracle how he has won all those trophies with his pathetic tactics. He admitted himself that he managed to win La Liga in 2004 only becasue both Madrid and Barca had terrible seasons. I give him the UEFA Cup victory. As for his UCL win, well you seriousely think that it was Rafa's tactics that made Gerrard to score a wonder goal in the group stages, then a mysterious goal against Chelsea in SF and then the final. His starting 11 was a slaughtered by ACM. He only made changes because his right back (Steve Finnan) and 2nd striker (Harry Kewell) were injured. The chages were not master strokes, he had no other options. Liveropool didn't win the UCL 2005. It was actually ACM and specially d!da who gifted them the UCL 2005. Rafa deserves no credit for UCL 2005 win. It was purely because of extremely good luck.

For those who think changing the coach would not solve the problems
Well Barca changed the coach and now they are playing good I guess

Carlo signs for MAdrid and takes Kaka'with him somehow.... then I would be obligated to take some drastical measures against this man

In amy case, he keeps talking about Roma, some NT etc. Go to Madrid, take 300mln for players.

Milan WILL (?) get money for Carlo's contract as he is under a contract and his transfer is as same as any other players? That would be something, we get rid of Carlo and get 25 mln

Do you think Milan deserved to win CL 2003. when Inzaghi scored a lucky goal in the last minute against Ajax in 1/4 final?

Rafa is a great manager, his results show it......it's only a matter of someone's opinion about different managers
