I have posted a report expressing Galliani's desire to establish a young new look Milan for next season. See it in the Summer Mer... thread!

Cissokho's first words about signing for Milan...

Really liked the enthusiasm, but mostly, I just liked the last paragraph. He seems to understand what it means to be a LB in Milan.

Humble players with a level head will succeed anywhere! This guy is a real battler, and in a short space of time, he has gone from Ligue 3, then to Porto, and now to Milan! Never gives up hope and always applies himself; just what our team needs!

Anyway, someone on this forum was begging for us to get an African player, or atleast of African descent. Here you go, this ones for you!

And yes, Australia is home to many Europeans, including Poles. In fact outside of Italy, Australia has the most Italians. Same can be said about the Greeks. We are very multicultural!
Isn't there something like 25m in Brazil, 20m in Argentina, 18m in US of Italian descent?

I'd be surprised if Australia has that many unless we are talking immediate generation only.

You may be right, but I am probably correct about the Greek population here in Australia. Anyway, we are very multicultural, and accepting of all sports including soccer, which is reasonably big over here. EPL is most popular here, but now and then, AC Milan gets talked of...

Look on Youtube, and search this player. There is a video showing this guy racing past four slidetackling defenders before nearly making an assist (the dill couldn't knock it in from point blank range!). Shows some exciting stuff and highlights his running ability. Reminded me of Pato!

Here is a bit more on what the player had to say!

Porto Star Aly Cissokho: I Choose Milan
The French defender says he did not think twice when the Rossoneri knocked on his door.
15 Jun 2009 08:57:12

Milan completed the signing of flying wing-back Aly Cissokho from Portuguese club Porto yesterday for a reported €15 million.

The 21-year-old will land in Italy’s fashion capital this afternoon to have a medical prior to signing a five-year contract, allegedly worth €1m per season.

French giants Olympique Lyonnais were also said to be in the running to secure his services, however, Milan general manager Adriano Galliani travelled to Portugal on Saturday to personally complete negotiations.

“It’s an opportunity I could not afford to lose and when it presented itself, I hoped it would end this way,” Cissokho is quoted as saying in the Corriere dello Sport.

“Milan are a great team and when I had to choose between the Rossoneri and Lyon, I had no doubts, because of the Italian club’s history and also for the words that Adriano Galliani said. He captivated me.”

After completing his medical at Le Betulle clinic tomorrow, Cissokho will go back to enjoying his holidays and is expected to be unveiled after Milan meet up to start their pre-season preparations on July 6.

“I can’t wait to be in Milan and I am eager to repay their faith and put myself at Leonardo’s disposal,” added the versatile wing-back. “What’s my role? I can play on both flanks, but I prefer the left one.”Vince Masiello, Goal.com

Well spoken, and good persuasive skills by Galliani. Trust me, Lyon would have offered more, because the president is obssessed with this player.

That's good if he can play on both flanks. We really need versatile players since we often face injuries to our defenders.

If he can play both flanks, then our FBs are pretty set with Zambro, Cissokho and Antonini capable of playing both sides, then Oddo and Bonera on the right, Janku and Favalli on the left, then there is always Flamini, who can play both flanks too.

So Lyon was all those big clubs that Galliani needed to beat for this player.... Galliani, always lying even when there is no need, just for fun

Anyway, good luck Cissokho!!! First task: Destroy Maicon in the derby!!

His transfer was really judged by his performances against Manchester United this season. Has a striking similarity with the reason we picked up Senderos, when he starred against us at the San Siro. However, Porto fans praise this player, yet Arsenal fans acknowledge how crap Senderos is! Hopefully, he will not dissapoint, and show a bit more mobility then the stone stautue of Senderos can. If you see some of his video clips, it is proven that he can move fast, VERY fast!

Dude, thats two completely different cases.
First Cissokho is one of Leo's first target while Senderous was Milan last option to get a CB.
Secondly, Lyon tried to sign him, and that pretty much means, he is an up and comer.
Lastly, Senderous is pure crap and everyone knows it, heck even the MGT knows it or else they would have bought him straight away instead of loaning him first.

Always wondered why Wegner let go of Senderos so easily, and why Milan just got him on Loan. Both parties were not confident in his ability, and Arsenal were hoping to get some decent cash in the slim hope that Sendros actually improved. Such a dumb and rough player suits the EPL far more then the Italian Serie A, which requires clever defenders aware of proper tactics.

Some more of what Galliani had directly to say about this certain transfer:

AC Milan chief Galliani delighted to sign "wonderful" Cissokho
15.06.09 | tribalfootball.com
AC Milan have snapped up Porto wing-back Aly Cissokho.

The 22-year-old Porto defender can play both right-back and left-back and, although no official figures have been named, it’s believed he was signed for £13m.

“The negotiations during the night were intense,” Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani told the official club website.

“We consider Cissokho to be a wonderful player and the proof of that is in the interest shown in him by some of the most important European clubs.

“At the end of the day the friendship between sides after so many years proved decisive, as in the past we were co-founders of the G-14 with the Porto directors.”
