Pirlo: What a goal!

Milan’s Andrea Pirlo insists that his goal against Sampdoria was perhaps the best of his career.

The Italian international opened the scoring at the San Siro with a 25-yard beauty that left goalkeeper Francesco Antonioli rooted to the ground.

"It was a great goal," he said after the important 3-1 victory. "One of the most beautiful that I have ever netted."

Pirlo again impressed on Sunday but so too did his teammates as they maintained their lead at the top of the table.

"We played really well today," said the former Inter midfielder. "We were in control of the game for the entire 90 minutes.

"We started well even if they did equalise with Doni. Yet we played with grit, conviction and determination to get this result."

The European champions are five points clear of Roma and six ahead of Juventus after all three sides won in Week 24.
