If that is true i'd be quite annoyed that we let someone with his potential slip through our fingers.

However, there's a bit on Calciomercato about how Juve & Inter are monitoring Lucas, although they believe that Atletico Madrid will be his destination as the Spanish club has been tracking him for 3 years or so now (apparently).

But it says that Gremio want 8 million euros and 1% of his next sell on fee for Lucas. Doesn't that sound quite cheap? Maybe our members from Brazil can update us on the Lucas affair and comment on his recent peformances for club & country.

What about the Non-EU spaces. Are we allowed to buy another after Oliveira? and if we are allowed to get someone in January, will it mean that we can't buy another no-EU player in summer 2007?

I know that we are allowed one per year from outside of Italy. However I never really quite understood that. It does say per year I think.....or does it say per season?

Oliveira was is Spain long enough, so his EU. The EU rule is 1 non EU from ABROAD per season and not per year. So we can still buy 1. Lucas from Gremio has Italian roots so he would be an EU. So maybe Milan can buy him and Marcelo in 1 go. But of course marcelo has been linked with a move to RM in Jan

Reports in Spain suggest that the Marcelo to Real deal will be officially announced tomorrow. They say Real paid 6.3 million euros ... which is nothing

I guess that leaves Pasquale as one of the better young left-backs around.

Pasquele is a good option. But what about Zambrotta. he can play LB and RB, If he is not happy in Jan maybe Milan can grab him, or even next season?

The Writing is on the wall

Ok people my worst fear is official. From Tribalfootball:

"The agent of Fluminense wing-back Marcelo has revealed the teenager is on his way to Real Madrid.
Reinaldo Pitta declared yesterday: "The conditions are complete because the transfer will be made officially tomorrow. Only minor details are now lacking."

Real will pay £4.3 million to Fluminense for the Brazil international. There was talk of Marcelo joining Real in January, though it's believed the deal will be confirmed for the end of this season
."
Darn! how could we let such a great LB go! And only for 4.3m?

joumasepoes, i was talking about young left-backs.

I've mentioned this before, but i personally think that we would be best off with 1 experienced/older left-back and 1 younger left-back. For the first group i had Abidal & Zambrotta in mind, for the second i had Marcelo & Pasquale in mind.

Dede from Dortmud
Riise
Abidal
Schulz

I was actually saying Zambrotta as RB. But if theres young LB you want here are other names: Taye Taiwo (french team), CHiellini (juve -doubt theyll sell him),and maybe wayne bridge coz he said he doesnt want to be back up

Jim, 8 millions for Lucas is a shame(for the Grêmio)...and 6,5 milllions for Marcelo...man, what I can say...Even if Milan will not have interest to bring the kid right now, only for the investment point view, is a win-win business!!
Back to Lucas, Jim...this kid is special. Lucas is one of this "makes of everything" midfields. Lucas play in G. Silva role(DM) in Grêmio, but has much more quality, and can play also in anothers roles in the MID. I don´t know how you guys classify this type of MID in Europe, but Lucas is the type of Mid that defend(as a DM) and go to offense like a OMD...

Rosoneri 11, Zaccardo is a right-back, although this season he's been playing in the middle of defence with Barzagli.

I agree completely with you Brasiliero about the financial/investment side of things for these two players. If (and it's a big if) those figures i quoted are accurate, which i doubt, but say they are, that would be 14.5 million euros. That's about as much as Atletico Madrid still owe us! We could get them both without actually spending any money.

Lucas sounds like an exciting player. Is he tall? Quick? Good shot on him?
