Milan have put Brazilian ace Ronaldinho on a strict diet, hoping he will lose at least four kilograms between now and the beginning of the season in August, according to Il Corriere Dello Sport.

‘Dinho’ returned to action on Monday afternoon for pre-season at Milanello and he has been working hard and with intensity. The report suggests the player is currently overweight and both Leonardo and athletic coach Daniele Tognaccini have devised a special exercise programme for the Brazilian so he can shift the extra pounds and be ready in time for next term.

Furthermore, it is suggested the player put on more weight during his summer holiday. A big season from Ronaldinho is expected this year as he will have to step up to the plate following Kaka's departure to Real Madrid. Patron Silvio Berlusconi is said to be counting on the Brazilian to lead the team in their battle for glory.

"Ronaldinho has been working hard during pre-season," Tognaccini told Sky Sport Italia.

"He has been doing specific exercises related to his physical condition. I think working with the ball is more stimulating for him."

even if he kicks ass, we are 2-3 players short of Scudetto. Lets put aside Inter(who I still consider no.1). Lets talk about Juventus.

Last year they were misserable, and finished same points with us. This year they have done amazing job and we lost Kaka. Atm they are only contenders together with Inter.

When we sold Kaka(a huge loss), i thought with that money we can bu 3-4 top players and we are ok,there would be still hope that if everything clicks we could do it.

But now, it seems that the most we are getting this year, (and I am overly optimistic) is L.Fabiano and a LB. and that dosnt make us a better team. I can honestly say, thank god Fiorentina is loosing Melo, otherwise we'd go down one more place in the ranks.

OK, they tell us he's on a diet, but they don't tell us what it is. Either way, it's not a way to begin your newfound commitment to Milan, by packing on extra pounds during the holidays.

Cut Dinho some slack, at least he is on time for trainning and working hard.

Most players come to training camp abit overweight anyway. As I doubt anyone train hard during their HOLIDAYS. I mean, do you work on your HOLIDAYS? I know I don't.

Agreed. It is completely normal for a player to come back from holidays overweight. Someone used to training 5 days a week and playing matches twice a week is going to gain weight once all the physical activity stops--it's normal.

Now's the time for him to get back into shape. The talent is there, I think the motivation is there as well, otherwise he would've gone to Man City for more money. I think what is lacking is confidence from the coach and regular match rhythim which he did not get under Ancelotti. If Leo plays him and makes him the center of this team, I think he will shine again. ANd really, Seedorf should give him the number 10 and re-wear his old number 20

Want Leo to be like a Pep of Barca, in terms of setting certain curfews on our players, in order to keep them in touch during the season. this especially applies to Dihno, whom I expect that milan is going to rely on alot.... If he falls, then what?

We must give him the chance definitely, try to put him back in good shape.
It is a bit of a gamble, but it's worth it.
If he doesn't do well until let's say mid season, then Man City is a club we should be making friends with

He will succeed,Leo has special tactical plans for him in the field,he wants Dinho only to attack and when the opposite team is going to attack us he doesnt have to do anything because Leo wants him to only focuse and use his energy on creating chances for us.Its going to work, the guy has plenty work-outs,trainings and games to be fit,he can even be fit if we go on the US-Tour.

No worries.

AC Milan coach Leonardo upset as Ronaldinho returns overweight
10.07.09 | tribalfootball.com
New AC Milan coach Leonardo has ordered Ronaldinho to go on an immediate diet.

Corriere dello Sport says Ronaldinho returned for preseason training four kilos overweight - much to the disappointment of Milan coaching staff.

Ronaldinho had left for his summer hols with a specific training programme designed by coach Daniele Tognaccini. But he still has managed to return well out of shape.

Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has made no secret of his expectation that Ronaldinho will fill the void left by Kaka this coming season.

What, wasn't he fitter?

If we put R99 and R80 to a hot dog eating competition, what do you think who would win?
