Maybe we could get a discount with Huntelaar (so no Luis Fabiano then).. but this last paragraph was just my own thoughts, not actual rumors
It is said that Galliani tries to get Huntelaar on loan with an option to buy him ... the problem is that if Real Madrid accepts that, they won't give a discount on the price to pay if we use the option as the loan itself would be a kind of gift.

Anyway, if that works, we could very possibly try to get Luis Fabiano too then ... if we have enough money to then buy the so-called fullback we need (and more probably a midfielder if Pirlo leaves, what I don't hope).

With Luis Fabiano, Huntelaar on loan, Pato, Borriello, Inzaghi and why not Zigoni + Ronaldinho, we could play the 4-3-3 that Leonardo wanted to try at start ... but we need Pirlo or another creative player to play this 4-3-3 formation or we will have only DM in the 3 midfielders ...

Anyway, it's just a thought, and that won't happen I think.

Rosina is a average player that was one of those eternal "talents" that never bloomed. I am not sure how a player that was not even a sure starter in a relegation team is the "player for us".

We would sell Pirlo for 20M and use that cash to buy, like Gio-Mania said, 3 players, more certainly Fabiano or Huntelaar (let's say 20M), Hernanes (let's say 20M too) and a LB ?!

What is the reasonment there ??

We don't have money to buy a 20M player, and by selling one of our players 20M, we suddenly would have 40M to spend ?? I need to know how Milan could do that to do it with my own money !!
From what I understand we currently have a 15 million budget (which however Berlusconi seemingly might raise by some few million, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport).
By selling Pirlo we get another 18-20 million. So a total of budget of circa 35 million euros.

16-18 would go to buy a striker (Luis Fabiano), less than five for a sideback (De Silvestri-Oddo swap), which leaves us with about 10 to spend on a Pirlo replacement. Hernanes would work (less than 10 mil, not 20), Sneijder might work too especially since Real are closer to Xabi Alonso, and also Ledesma (who doesnt convince me at all) who could be gotten relatively cheaply in if we get him in a combo with De Silvestri. The math does work out.

But the question is: would our team be better as follows:

OUT: Pirlo,Oddo
IN: Luis Fabiano/Huntelaar, De Silvestri, Ledesma/Hernanes/Sneijder?

Our line up would probably be:

------------------- Abbiati (?)
Zambrotta - Nesta - T Silva - De Silvestri
-------- Gattuso ----------- Flamini
-------------------- Sneijder/Hernanes/Sneijder
------------------------------Dinho
----------------Pato
--------------------Huntelar/LuisFabiano

Yes it does. Liverpool is the best example as they may go under if none buy them or they sell some assets. If you have debt then you must pay interest. We are not talking pennies. Last year Liverpool paid some €30M just in interests and that interest rate is only going to go up.

A deficit on the other hand just means that club is run on a loss that is covered by the owner. If this deficit is not covered, then the club goes into debt.

(in truth some clubs run both on a deficit and debt basis)

I know it isn't good business practice, but that doesn't mean the club will go under. If the owner leaves, then they must sell.Being debt free is important. We currently don't invest because Berlusconi is no longer interested in covering our deificit. (which we had due to bad management IMO)

i have a lot of complaints about Berlusconi, but spending without thinking is not among them. If anything how Galliani gave stupid contracts and made some bad transfers... that was spending without thinking. Berlusconi just spend a fraction of his wealth to create a great team. He knew very well what he did.

Is is the same for these arab guys. ManC is a toy for them, a expensive toy. It is not a business.

I don't agree with our approach to achieve this, as we're just suddenly stopping investment to maintain a healthy financial state (at least for the short term). Instead, we should evolve the organisation, redeveloping and investing more in the youth sector, yet looking to maintain competitiveness for a number of years.
I agree that it is a good practice to keep finances healthy. and I sure as hell agree that we have approaced that poorly. There would have been no need to sell Kaka if we had been doing this earlier.

We sold Kaka to 'help' the team. I can't see anything happening to help the team if Pirlo goes. If they want to do something good, then get rid of the deadwood, and sell the club.

He wasn't a starter last season because he fell out with the coach, not because he 's not good enough

La Repubblica writes (http://www.repubblica.it/2008/12/spo...lo-londra.html that Galliani is looking for a price between 14-18 million euros... definitely a downgrade from La Gazzetta & Sportmediaset rumors of 18-20 million.

Football Italia reports that Pirlo's sale will fund Fabiano/Huntelaar, Sneijder and possbly Riquelme. I am sure there must be a full back too.
http://www.football-italia.net/aug1e.html

Is Pirlo worth more than the players (2-4) we would allegedly buy?

... and Football Italia is a credible source.

What that link is saying is that we would invest the Pirlo cash on an attacker.
Since we would be getting Sneijder on loan (for a negligible fee apart from maybe salary, I guess), he has nothing to do with the Pirlo cash. And Riquelme? I dont know the credibility of that (although his value should be very low).

Pirlo will come for 15-20 million I'd guess... and with the prices for players nowadays that will only give us one player.

Personally I hope we stay away from loans. At most I would accept a loan of maybe Huntelaar, since it seems like next year we are going to splash the cash on Dzeko.

I would love this:

Out: Pirlo, Oddo
In: Huntelaar (loan), Hernanes, De Silvestri

2010:
Out: Dida, Kalac, Kala, Favalli, Ambro, Janku
In: Marchetti, Dzeko, CB, CM, LB

Football Italia translates Italian news into English. That is their raison d'ętre.

I think you are refering to me

It is much more precise to say Milan do not want to spend at least till now.

Berlusconi just said that Milan were, are and will be the No1 football club. (OK....OK.... don't cut my head offf).lol.

They use the gamut of Italian sources--from the unreliable to Tuttosport to the moderately reliable Gazzetta.
