Arrgghhhh, I knew Gourcuff would do well!! Let's just hope we bring him back next season and not sell him. He's the sort of player in the Zidane/Rui Costa mold---technical players who cannot be expected to come on in the middle of games and change much. They need to be started for a number of games til they find their form and rhythm. This chance, unfortunately was never given to Gourcuff. I still see him as the perfect AM to rotate with Kaka, Dinho.

I don't understand why many fans here want a CB? ACM have Paolo, Nesta, Bonera & Kaladze so that makes it a complete set of CB with good back ups. In case of Nesta missing, Maldini+Bonera is not bad & as I see, Bonera is the next great Italian defender, some thing the world havn't sen after Cannavaro & Nesta
What ACM really need is a decent GK, Akinfeev would be perfect, but Carlo Cudicini is not bad either

lol bonera is avg. He's 27 and has never been tactically that great. compared to nesta or paolo or cannavaro. He's a good defender... but w/o nesta around, he can look bad. And thats th problem w/ milans defense. Nesta is onl world class defender we have. Rest are good...just not world class

I think we definately NEED a cf though. I'd love a young one, but realisticall some1 like crespo would be good. Right now with injury crisis some1 reliable to hold up the front while we're short handed. Then when players come back, he'd move to a reliable bench player. If our first few weeks r without kaka, borriello, inazghi we may be out of it before xmas again.

Remember when they come back they still need to leanr to gel w/ ronaldinho etc

too slow. He's a natural CM. He'd excel in a zidane role though. Remember though, zidanes best years, he had speedy strikers infront of him (w/ france henry, trez... real madrid.. raul, ronaldo...) and wing speed, so he has more organizer, using his creativity. The problem is. If our squad features players like that, DM, and no pace running into lanes it makes him worthless. so i'm not sure if he ad pirlo can truly play together....

I don't think Gourcuff and Pirlo can play together at all, and I cannot agree with what u said and thats exactly who Gourcuff is.

Hopefully he will do well this year and by next year he will come and be like Boban for a few years before taking over from Pirlo.

Gourcuff never impressed me in the few times he played for Milan. That's why he NEEDED to be loaned. Let him get more playing time and develop and then we can bring him back in a position where he can actually contribute.

IMO he never got a decent chance, compared to players who do nothing, and still play like favalli, dida, brocchi and gilardino.

You hope San Paolo would play for next 5 seasons? If yes, then it's just frankly insane. Don't think wrong of me, I admire Paolo very much, he's the best player in Milan's proud history and the holder of most caps in Italian National Team and maybe one of the best CBs in football history.

But my dear friend, HE IS NOW 39 YEARS OLD. A football player won't be the same, not even the great San Paolo. If it could happen, we'll play the best defense with Baresi, Costacurta, and Maldini behind. But it won't happen. The older the player, he will not play better than at his peak. It's that plain simple.

Bonera? Yes he's good player but he's not world class. Kaladze? Same. Only Nesta is the current world class CB in our team and now he's in his 30. Would not you think for long term?

Okay, so Maldini-Nesta-Bonera-Kaladze are a complete set of CB with good back ups, you said. Then, what would you call Ferdinand-Vidic-Silvestre-O'Shea, or Terry-Carvalho-Alex-BenHaim, or Ramos-Metzelder-Pepe-Cannavaro, or Samuel-Materazzi-Chivu? The complete set of godly defenders from heaven above?

Ahh... how I miss the day when we're The Invincible Milan, when we had Paolo, Billy, and Franco at their peak...

SIMIC: A.C. MILAN OFFICIAL NOTE
8/11/2008
MILAN - A.C. Milan communicate that an agreement has been found with AS Monaco FC for the sale of the footballer Dario Simic to AS Monaco, a team who play in the highest French division. Tomorrow Simic will be in Monaco to undergo the usual medical checks.

Meh. Hopefully making space for another cb though ...

That would be the expectation. If rumours are anything to go by, Ivanovic will replace Simic in the squad.

That would be ok with me! I don't know anything about Ivanovic, but at least there is hope that he could be great - unlike Simic who's certainly not going to improve, and wasn't even used by Carlo. This is what we need to start doing - trimming the fat off this squad. Next one out I would like to see is Dida, although that won't be happening. At the very least, let's hope Brocchi moves...

Once Simic leaves, then the Sinister Six will become Frightful Five, with Dida, Kalac, Brocchi, Favalli and Emerson.
