Pirlo was not for free, reported fee was 12-15 million euro/dollars. Seedorf came by swap with Coco, I believe.

So I'm wrong.

http://www.channel4.com/sport/footba...lia/jul2e.html

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has poured cold water on recent speculation that the Rossoneri will move for Brazilian starlet Alexandre Pato.

The 17-year-old is currently at the Under-20 World Cup in Canada where Rossoneri boss Carlo Ancelotti is amongst representatives from several top European clubs keeping an eye on the promising striker.

However, Pato is currently under contract with Copa Libertadores holders Internacional until 2009 and the Porto Alegre outfit have reportedly valued him at around £10m – a fee Galliani is unwilling to pay.

“Ancelotti tells me that Pato is a very talented youngster, but he is young and I believe that you can’t spend that much on a player when it’s not certain he will become the new Kaka’,” Galliani insisted.

Galliani’s comments will come as a disappointment to Pato after he told La Gazzetta dello Sport that he would relish the chance to join his idols at Milan.

“To play alongside Ronaldo would be the best. I often play as Milan on the Playstation and there are so many Brazilians there,” he enthused.

If Milan buy him, I think he will be very happy to play him self as a starter, even his attributes are not good or he has white strength arrow

Ok, I recognize the man is competent and etc., but he can be to damn conservative sometimes! Pato is eager to join us, and the boy is really outstanding...

We've seen Galliani pull this off more than once.
For all we know we'll have signed Pato next week for 30mil.
Never take Galliani serious, he's never telling the full truth.
We'll just have to wait and see..

what a surprise, we're denying everything and saying we won't bid over X amount ...

I wonder if Galliani ever gets tired of saying the same thing over and over.

This summer mercato of Milan is the weird amongst all other team in Serie A.

I wonder whether Berlusconi is broke up or Galliani is playing poker with Pato and other players Milan were interested to sign.

The ticket sales was just break the record for 22,000 tickets as compared to last year of only slightly over 9,000. And now Berlusconi and Galliani were playing cards by saying that the mercato period is still long to go....what a big joke,

I have a strong feeling that actually Berlusconi is still hoping Sheva to come back and that's why he's dragging the time for nothingthan waiting for Sheva to appeal to Chelski to leave like he did with Milan last year....

If we loose Pato then he will be Chelski's or the Merda's and in 2 years time his price will be 3-4 times than today.

Or...maybe Galliani and Berlusconi were so proud of themselves after Spalletti said that next season scudetto challenge would only be Inter and Milan's battle to win and that's why thought that Milan don't need to sign new players??? What a strange management of Milan we are having after winning the CL....Is this the sign of the fall of Milan??? Hope not but I'm so worry thinking about the mercato......we will end up with signing no one by end of August......

If you are here long enough, you'll realize that people usually start screaming at Berlusconi and Galliani (and sometimes Briada) during most of the summer transfer. Same old thing happening again and am I not surprised!

Pato is too expensive

Too much money for young player.
Who knows where he will end up? As a star or mediocre player?

What about Santa Cruz, from Bayern?
He said he would love to come in AC Milan, for any money :-)
He is young, talented,experienced.

"Too much money for young player."

Come on, our side can surely afford that kind of 'risk' once in a while...

When asked about Pato, Galliani said to ask "Breida or Ancelotti".

Guys relax. How we can buy Pato for 25 or 30m euros when he has a contract release clause of 15 million euros??????

Pato has a contract release clause of 15 million euros! That means there is NO bidding war ! Any club that pays out the 15 million euros can offer a contract directly to the player [so the club is not involved in the negociation] - we know that from Football Manager ] - so there is no need to splash 25-30 mil. euros for that ! IF Milan/InterChelsea/other clubs also wish to sign him, they will battle for his signature (higher wage, signing fee, etc) BUT NOT with bids.

And why would any team put the "Next Kaka" a 15M Euros release clause?

I think that when that relase clause was signed, Pato was signing his first professional contract at the age of 16 with absolutely no prior experience and he was a nobody even for people in Brazil ... (in the words of one of our Brazilian mambers here)
plus, it's no like the "original" Kaka had a 15 mil buy out clause either ... in fact, we got him for about half that and look what he turned out to be.

I am not saying that Pato is ready for a team like Milan though given that he is 3 years younger than what kaka was when he came to Milan ... or that he will ever be ... just that a reletively low (in Kaka-like terms) buy out clasue means absolutely nothing
