No... there was the same confusion earlier. he doesnt play for Racing Santander, he plays for Racing de Avellaneda, one of the biggest Argentinian clubs.
He started in Huracan where he played untill last year in Argentina's Nacional B (2cond division), he was brought by Racing this year, and played just half of the season and noteven as a regular starter.

Well there isnt much to say, because i dont think he is nothing special, just a comun player who's not expected to be more than that, and even for Huracan or Racing fans he's just another player...

In other words, Braida is shooting in the dark... just hoping he can be something special, but not having anything to prove it yet...

If they wanted a young back with star potential they could have aimed at Cristian Villagra. Too late.

I renamed the thread to official as Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed him joining the squad in Malta and he is set to play the friendly against the Maltese side

The other being Independiente Avellaneda. Was it not Racing the favorite club for the Peron's particularly Evita? I do vaguely recall this.

As far as I can see, he has officially signed for Milan and has already joined the squad for training. However, at the same time, the only mention I can remember seeing on the official site about him is

"Argentine Leandro Grimi also trained with the team this morning and Simic commented: 'I haven't seen him play yet so I can't make a judgement but he has settled in well.'"

and from Carlo

"Willy Aubameyang is fast, good in front of goal with the header. The future of the young players is always under consideration. Grimi is also young, he is with us in Malta and is older than Aubameyang and more experienced but needs to develop. We are fine going into the Reggina game, we have trained intensely but the team is charged up.".

I have no idea about what the contract details are.

Anyway, welcome to Grimi, may he be a pleasant surprise.

In fact it is not very clear, but the truth is that Racing's actual stadium was built by peronist government in the year 1950. That's the main reason to think he supported them.
About Evita i dont know, but about Peron there are versions that say he supported Boca...

From Carlo's words, it looks like Grimi is only here as a hot prospect and not as a reinforcement. I woudn't be surprised if he ends up somewhere on a loan next season just like the other young players we have had in the past. Hopefully though he proves himself and Milan can count on him.

if he had been acquired to reinforce the serie A team, I think it would be posted by now on acmilan.it ... I guess he was just brought in as a prospect, to either play with Primavera, or be loaned out to a Serie B team, or some Serie A team with more needs than us...

he must have a contract, he wouldn't have left Racing and risk an injury if all he had was a chance to take part of training sessions in Malta and a dream to make the team

Well, let's hope he turns out to be "Milan material". The only thing I was a little surprised about is how there was no "official" statement from the website claiming that we had signed him, and how there was no real news on this matter at all even if it was so-called confirmed. Given how little transfer activity we've been involved in as of late, the least they could have done was announce it officially!

Well i think nobody was expecting to see him signing his contract with galliani in a press conference and showing a jersey with ''Grimi'' on the back....

Haahaha it would've been great...

If they dont say anything its probable they will just give him on loan for a season, and if he does well, theyll bring him back for next season....
nothing out of normal
