Sorry guys, i really can't see how can he be consider good enough for Milan. Come on, his standard and saves are just average at best when considering good goalkeepers. I look thru half the clip and haven't seen a single save that impress me. I rather take back abbiati. I can compile something that make Abbiati look like god beside this kid.

I hope we are looking at better keepers.

They played really poorly for most of the year (often worst than us, don't worry about that). They're far to be able to win the next CL, you want to know why ? Simply because some players will leave this club, like every year, and Aulas will get plus-values thanks to these sold players, like every year too.

Oh and they will change AGAIN their coach ... umh not sure actually, there's some crisis in this club: Aulas want to fire Perrin who is an average coach, but his main problem is that Perrin is the first Lyon coach to have won 2 titles in a single season ... You don't know Lloris and you make a judgement on his skills ... funny: he will probably be one of the best GKs in world in 2-3 years ...

I judge him based on what i saw, he is nothing special. I can tell you the first time i saw buffon play when he was still in Parma, i actually shoot up from my seat and is amazed by his saves and can't stop talking about him to my brother and friends. Now that is what i call special, you know he is going to be one of the best if not the best someday. Lloris will NEVER be anything special going by the standard i saw the clips, he can't even hold onto a ball securely and make superb reflex saves. If that is his best then he is nothing more than average.

I agree with hmwook, Lloris did not impress me much. I wouldn't be confident if Milan signed a 21 year old kid to be our starter and he doesnt even speak the same language as the players. I'd much rather Frey or Kalac.

Dida I could have accepted, but I have lost all my respect for the guy after he recently said that he wanted to stay in Milan (the real reason ofcourse is that salary of 4m/season he is earning) and not leave even when we asked him to leave. Some people have no self-pity and are care only about money - Dida is one of them.

Back to Lloris, the world definitely is not over with him not coming to Milan..but there is something that has disappointed me. Galliani did state recently that we were trying to get Lloris, what I dont like is that Lloris is the latest player from a growing list of players that have snubbed Milan for other teams in recent years.

When did the club ever ask him to leave?

Well, I dont know that for sure but I dont need to be a genius to figure that one out. If he is on the bench with a salary that is more expensive that half of the team (or should I say one of the most expensive salaries in Europe), and sometimes he even gets injured by just sitting on the bench, then he definitely is a liability. That would lead to the club wanting him out, which I am sure they have asked him to leave, which has lead to people like Leonardo commenting on the situation and saying 'Dida is staying'.

It's 3 different things: he didn't/doesn't impress you, ok, he's 21yo, ok, he doesn't speak Italian, ok, but what is the link between these 3 things ? lol
And the fact he's 21yo means he can (if he's not stupid lol) learn Italian ...

Anyway, like you said, the world is not over and even if we don't get any new GK, the world won't be over, it's football, it's entertainment, nothing more.

Simple fact, youtube clips are made to impress. If these clips doesn't impress then there won't be much matches that he impress in unless you are telling me all those people who made the clips are idiots who can't even get any decent clips of him making any good saves.

This is my opinion and it will stay as such unless you can prove me wrong by showing me some clips where he really impress. I doubt you can so let's drop the arguement.

Do you know the French league? Well I do, and I can tell you: Lloris s a monstertalented keeper! But hey, 'nough said if you prefer Kalac over Lloris...

You're nearer to the pulse so I will end by making these statements from what I've seen.

Even though they may have not had their best season I think saying they played really poorly is a bit of an overstatement given they won their league. Maybe I overstated how well they played, but they still won the league.

Lyon did exceptionally well in the the CL this year. Bowing out to MAN-U
2 - 1 is amazing. IMO they have shown growth in the competition. If they had the same draws as Fenerbache I'd venture to say they'd probably have made it to the finals.

In this years transfer window I think they will be a buying and not a selling team like last year to try and bloster the team so that they will do even better in the CL.

IMO They're on the right track.

hwmook, you love "impressive" GK, so take Gomes, if you watch his clips, you'll see how good he is ... but they don't show any mistakes he does. If you try to look for mistakes from Lloris, you won't find any (or maybe one, I don't know, I didn't watch ALL Lloris matches, it's Ligue 1 ...). Anyway, we won't have Lloris, so I don't know why I'm still speaking about him lol !! I stop there ... I'll try lol.

To tell me "they won Ligue 1 so they did good" is not a very good argument, Celtic and Rangers win each year their league, is this Scottish league a good championship ??
Lyon is really alone in this championship, I mean, they have a CL level, I can't deny that (not a CL winner level, just a current CL level, a team able to pass the first round each year), but all other teams in France don't have at least an UEFA Cup level, they have good cycles in the year sometimes (Bordeaux and Marseille impressed at some moments, Lille too), but they're not able to play as good all year-long.

When there will be a real fight for French championship, I'll give credit to Lyon, not before ... so maybe next year, because I think this championship is going to improve for 2008-2009.

Oh and with Aulas you can't know, if Chelsea comes with a 80M € bid for Benzema, this guy won't be a Lyon player anymore in the ten seconds following the offer ...

Personally, I'm disappointed we didn't sign Lloris. We keep signing these somewhat crappy free or cheap players or hang on to keepers who are performing poorly. Kalac? Dida? Storari? Coppolla? Abbiati is OK I guess, but given his history it's time to move on.
Actually, Dida is the main player I want to leave. I want him to leave bad. I never liked him even when he performed decently, but the past couple years it's been bad, real bad. Now he gets injured by riding the pine. You go girl!
