Milan President Silvio Berlusconi has unveiled a cunning plan to lure Barcelona into selling them Ronaldinho.

“If, by chance, the deal could be done and the price-tag wasn’t too exaggerated….” mused the patron today on radio station Rtl 102.5.

“I have an idea: why don’t we start a collection among all the Rossoneri fans? That way the supporters could give themselves and their President a wonderful Christmas present!”

Berlusconi is more than happy to stump up the cash himself, as he has said on numerous occasions that he would break the bank to sign the Brazilian.

A transfer is more likely than ever right now, as Ronaldinho is unsettled at the Nou Camp and has been dropped, while the fans are also turning on their former hero.

“I hear news from Barcelona that the player is not going through the best time at the moment,” continued the media magnate.

“Milan are already protagonists on the world stage, but us fans would not reject the chance to have a champion like Ronaldinho as well.”

Berlusconi may have joked about his plans, but Vice-President Adriano Galliani points out there is more than a kernel of truth to it after their Champions League, European Super Cup and Club World Cup triumphs.

“We are receiving calls from many top players, some of them unexpected, and even more agents,” explained the transfer guru.

“A team that has won as much as Milan is enticing to players, but we have a starting XI without equal in the world and it will be very difficult to improve upon this squad.”

Changes will be forced in defence, though, as Paolo Maldini has confirmed he will retire in June and Marcos Cafu could follow.

Meanwhile, 18-year-old Alexandre Pato will finally be available from January, as he turned of age after the September transfer deadline and so was ineligible.

winter buy? i only have one player in mind: gianluca zambrotta. he will be a perfect addition to us, extremely versatile, reliable and experienced player.
there are great players linked to us like buffon and ronaldinho, but it is just not the right time to buy them on january.

galliani is saying that alot of champions and agents have called milan to come here and some of them are people that we wouldnt expect..blah blah blah thats what he said in June and thats what made us start all the speculation on Mr X.. galliani should really just keep his mouth shut and deal with these things on his own

Stendardo's an improvement over Simic, but it leaves no space for a young future star. Simic should be replaced with Ivanovic etc.

I would prefer De Silvestri to be honest. Even if we did sign Zambrotta, he would be one for the future like Pato and Gourcuff.

There are rumours connecting Stenardo with Milan. He's a relatively young defender from Lazio (only 26 years old). He could replace Maldini.

Stenardo's agent says, that Gugliemo is not satisfied with his position in the club and he's considering a leave.

stenardo is no way at the same level of Maldini. Think the move is smart, just to bring more reliable backups, just so we can rotate the squad more. Rumours have it that Kaladze is receiving alot of interest from Liverpool.

Seriousely, calciomercato reports that our young defender Albertazzi, remember?, is palying GREAT and is developing into one of the best young players out there. Arsenal showed interest in him when he was only 15. They say he is classical CD with great techniques as well. nice to hear that.

If Carlo wants replacement for Cafu, of course Alves is the best soultion as he can also play in the midfield in a great fashion. Like Eboue does now for Wenger ( Wenger=Arsenal).

But for now, just buy Zambrotta and lets take 4th spot so I can again talk to my friends how we are going for the scudetto next year... This way my only hope in CL.

The Lucio rumour caught my eye, he could be an interesting purchase.

Bayern Munich star Lucio has opened up the possibility of a move to a top Serie A or La Liga club by saying that he dreams of playing in either Italy or Spain.


The 29-year-old is widely considered as Brazil’s best central defender, and has been at Bayern since signing for them from Bayer Leverkusen in 2004.

“I dream of playing in Spain or Italy and maybe I’ll realise that ambition sooner rather than later,” Lucio admitted.

“It’s almost impossible to convince Brazilian stars playing in Serie A or La Liga to move to the Bundesliga.

“It’s not to do with Bayern, but the country. In Italy and Spain, the culture, the habits and the language are much more similar to Brazil. Bayern can’t compare to that.”



Lucio has played 63 times for the Brazilian national team, and was a star at the 2002 World Cup in Japan and Korea, where he picked up a winners medal.



He also participated in last summer’s competition in Germany, when the Selecao were knocked out by France in the quarter-final.



The classy stopper, who is famous for sparking counter-attacks by bringing the ball out from the back, rejected moves to Juventus and Roma in order to join Bayern in 2004.

Maybe Lucio would be a good temporary solution for the Defence that way it would give us more options seen as Simic seems to be forgotten completley now

Iceland is not a EU member state,however maybe they can find a loophole since he comes from a highly developed country....not to sure though.
