Actually he IS good looking enough for us........apparently he isn't as romantic as we hoped Personally I think he'd improve his chances of signing for us dramatically were he to present Galliani and Ronaldo with a box of Hershey's Kisses

This would be similar to what happened last season when Ronaldo was brought in. However, when all's said, with Pato and Ronaldo now coming in for the second season, Benzema or Berbatov may not really be needed right now.

Instead, I still think this transfer window (if there are still doubts on Ronaldo) we should aim to get a big target man up front, another option we're lacking right now.
basicly i agree with u.i understand why the sound of Berbatov and Benzema looks very interesting.lets see.. we have:

-Gilardino:this guy was scoring 23 goals and finishing as the second-best scorer in Serie A season 2004-05 when he was playing for Parma.and we bought him for £18m transfer.but his performances showing decrease path in Milan.must admit that he doesn't looks very attractive as he was in Parma.but his lame performances happened since Sheva left Milan.he was good when Sheva was around, but now he has to create chances for himself and it isn't happening.that time he scored 17 goals in Serie A (2005-06).it's good even he was going goalless in UCL (but hey.. he just moved from Parma ).since Ronaldo still couldn't find his best performance again.. lets we put the hope on Pato.together with Gila i hope Pato could replace the missing spot left by Sheva.even i know that if Gila was good enough... he would have done the job anyway but anything to make this guy scores

-Ronaldo: lolz.. dunno what happened with this former Ballon d'Or winner.he is CLASS but lost motivation perhaps?or his injuries ?

-Pippo: he saved Milan in many crucial moments.but to be honest he is among the worse in regards to technical abilities. even though i admire him

-Pato: man has to show what he has 1st but he was Jedi when playing for Internacional.

and nowadays we also called Kaka as a forward: what can i say our life and death mostly down on his knee

that's why Berbatov and Benzema looks very tempting.for God sake we "only" have Kaka to score from forward brigatte uhmmm.. also depends on Pirlo's fantastic freekicks.and well.. yeah sometimes Pippo scores

so... also for me, the former striker of Leverkusen define AWESOME !!
BERBATOV will be PERFECT.

ps. i forgot to put Willy Aubameyang and Alberto Paloschi.the last name is caught my eye.. but still young and needs lot of experience.we need someone who ready to play in the 1st squad!

One problem I have with the Gila thing is that many people say that his demise came when Sheva left. Ok, that's fine.
But do we want a player that can only do something if he is surrounded by someone else? Granted, all players need to have a fine support, but they also need to be able to make something on their own. This is where Gila fails me. He doesn't take the initiative, and looks rather pathetic when things aren't going his way. Also, I remember a quote from him early last season when people were questioning him and he said something along the lines of (this is not a direct quote, just off my memory) "I'm not really a fired up kind of person, I remain calm and not attacking, i just go about my normal game, etc..." I think this is a bit unacceptable, to be content with mediocrity, or at least not have the courage to step up your effort.

Well I for one have always been hated for my criticism of the next MVB of Milan
But the truth is that I never liked the guy since the first day he got here. I was alarmed to see that Sheva AND Kaka hesitating to pass to him Today things have still remained the same ....You can actually see Kaka looking for other options before passing to Gila. In sheva's time everyone passed to him without hesitation as long as he made the run he got the ball. Now Gila groupies praise him for the "good movements" he makes but wonder why no one feeds him. Actually the only one in our squad that I have seen not do this is Ronaldo....and if he gets to play with him long enough (or just gets to play ) I'm sure he might hesitate as well. That said the Gila Ronaldo partnership looks to have some sort of potential

I say we move quickly for a hungry determined striker like Benzema.....and having the Duck say that he wants to score two goals in one game is far more comforting than Gila's promise of 35 goals in his next hundred games

We need Benzema....he threatened Fred and Co at Lyon to displace them and at the grand old age of 20 he has done just that

Italian Press reports suggest that Milan view Argentine defender Jonathan Maidana as a possible recruit for the post-Paolo Maldini era.

The Rossoneri are preparing to lose one of their greatest servants this summer when the 39-year-old Maldini hangs up his boots.

A number of names are in the frame to reinforce the world champions’ defence when Maldini bids farewell and Maidana is the latest to be proposed.

The Corriere dello Sport states that the Diavolo are tracking the 22-year-old defender who is making a name for himself at Boca Juniors.

Maidana has represented Argentina at Under-20 level and has made 31 appearances for Boca since arriving from minnows Atletico Los Andes in 2005.

There have previously been rumours that Juventus are watching Maidana, but they are likely to be distracted by other priorities.
------------------------------------
There was once a rumour about him joining Juve and some Latin American Juve fans were praying for Juve not to buy the kid
They described him as a disaster waiting to happen. Looks like he's also been pathetic against Milan at copa intercontinentale.
I've never seen him though and i don't remember him from Boca-Milan.
I seriously think this particular news piece is media fabrication...

How our play changed since 2006/07

Anyone here has already made a comparison about chances for striker(s) upfront that our fullbacks and midfielders (plus chances from other positions) have made before 2006/07 and starting 2006/07? I think, that year was a starting point of some significant changes in our play regarding of creating chances for the players upfront.

Since season 2006/07, we didnt have decent fullbacks who could serve our strikers well. Jankulovski who played as left fullback was not a suitable replacement for Serginho. He was obviously better in attacking role than defensive one but still his offensive skill was not enough to provide enough good-crosses. To play in right fullback Cafu was already too old and we dont need to talk about Oddo's offensive ability.

From 2006/07 untill now we play with 1 striker and after Gourcuf's injury in that year we play also untill now with 2 DM (Ambrosini and Gattuso). Kaka is more as finishing attacking midfielder than as playmaker (of course Kaka made also some assists for the striker(s)).
The only position left that could create chances upfront in term of function is Seedorf's positions. But Seedorf in his nowadays position is more as a partner for Kaka than as an attacking midfielder who creates chances upfront.

We actually still have Pirlo who can make long pass or direct pass to the players upfront but he cant do that so frequently as his task is more to start an attacking. The same case with our DM (that our DM are not good enough with respect to their offensive skills, which is a normal case).

Before 2006/07 we had many sources of assists. Serginho was very good with regard to his offensive skills by delivering delicous crosses and so was cafu. Our main engine was in Seedorf and Pirlo's positions. Their colaboration with Kaka made our play so lively.

So, I just want to find out a comparison of chances that our striker(s) had before 2006/07 and since 2006/07.

Maybe Tony29, who is normally very good at statistics, can provide the data.

I also watched the same Kaka. I dont know why Kaka did it. With respect to Sheva, Sheva was actually hesitating to give chance to Inzaghi. I think, its more about Sheva's type as a striker who want to make as many goal as possible.

You can actually compare what Ronaldo (as you said), Pirlo and Gourcuff did to Gila. They did what they should did. If Gourcuff could play more and consistently, we would probably watch more Gourcuff's assists to Gila. I still remember Gourcuff made some assists for Gila.

Anyone of you also watched that Kaka was also hesitating to play with Gourcuff? Or maybe it's just my feeling.

OR you could have simply said b4 2006-2007 ACM played with 2 upfront so more goals from strikers and now with only 1 upront so less # of goals from striker, which is natural. Its as simple as that

Plus Janku and Oddo not good attacking fullbacks??? U got to kidding me

I would simply say : Before 2006/07 we used more offensive players (fullbacks, left midfield) and more offensive formation (two-striker formation).

Not exactly the right data but you can take my word that before Sheva's departure Milan were the team with most shots on goal and most successful crosses.

As for this 2007/08 the results are really defeating.

Milan as a team has only 69 successful crosses in 14 matches (average 4.93). To compare this with some other teams : Juve have 114 successful crosses in 17 matches (6.7), Roma have 111 succesful crosses in 17 matches (6.53)

Milan's midfielders have 36 successful crosses (Pirlo 14, Seedorf 6, Ambrosini 5, Kaka 4, Gourcuff 3, Brocchi 3, Gattuso 1, Emerson 0)
I won't compare this with another team's midfield but i'll compare it with Lazio's midfielder Cristian Ledesma who alone has 36 successful crosses, exactly the same number as entire Milan's midfield. And Ledesma playd on 14 matches, exactly as many as Milan played so far.
Hamsik has 31 successful crosses, Foggia has 30 etc.

Milan's fullbacks have 33 successful crosses (Oddo 10, Serginho 6, Jankulovski 6, Cafu 6, Maldini 3, Favalli 2).
Just for comparisson, Catania's left back Vargas has 24 successful crosses alone.

Milan's attackers have 0 successful crosses. Alessandro Del Piero has 17 successful crosses.

This results with few created chances for the strikers. I don't have the data about the total shots but i have the data about shots on target.
Milan's attackers have ONLY 17 shots on target (Gilardino 11, Inzaghi 5, Ronaldo 2)
Marco Borriello alone has 27 shots on target !!!
Ibra and Trezeguet have 26 shots on target.

But on the other side, Milan's midfielders have the highest average on shots on target per match. Roma's midfielders made 60 shots on target in 17 matches while Milan's midfield is second placed with 53 shots on target on 14 matches.

This clearly says that you don't play from the sides at all and you rely on long range shots.
