not that i don't have confidence in our team, but juventus is different from lazio. i am concerned because i don't want to see our morale damaged. if we can't win when we need to, that will be an issue. and leading by 4 points is always better than trailing by 4. having said all that, i am still quite optimistic about this season's scudetto. we have a good chance.

by the way, was it cold today? i saw that our players weren't warmed up enough, they weren't very motivated. if it is cold, then night match surely didn't help this problem.

Well, it's the same thing every time Milan plays a newbie. Always that same old story. The whole game can be spelled in one word: UNDERESTIMATE!

Player ratings anyone ?

A little disappointing to hear of the result though. Although catching up on a 4-point lead is absolutely possible, i still much prefer the 2-point gap. We now have to pray that Juve will slip again.

Dida - amazing save from Morrone, solid as usual ... 7

Pancaro - kind of the elefant. He never hides, he always offers his assistance but the crosses too often lack quality this season ... 5.5

Costacurta - flawless performance by Billy, Toni was nowhere to be seen ... 7

Maldini - Milan's best player, got in the way of everything, good old Paolo ... 7.5

Cafu - more quiet than usual offensively but did his duty in the other end ... 6

Gattuso - needless to say he worked hard, won many balls but his crosses lacked accuracy ... 6

Pirlo - our best midfielder on the night, such a delight to follow our most elegant player ... 7

Dhorasoo - despite his size he's strong and wins many balls. Solid display ... 6.5

Kaka' - not the best of performances from the Brazilian but that says a lot about his high standards since he was the man behind our biggest chance and was involved in a handful of promising attacks ... 6

Crespo - difficult match for the Argentinian, often surrounded by 2-3 opponents and didn't get enough crosses to work with ... 6

Sheva - wasn't really his night. He kept trying but did not succeed in threatening their goal seriously ... 6

Subs:

Seedorf - when he entered it was as if the speed of our game improved. Came to a huge goalscoring chance after Sheva's pass but apparently wasn't aware of how much time he had so he wasted it with a rash finish ... 6

Ambro and Tomasson - got too little time for me to rate them.

Do not think so seriously, esp. after I watch the match, I don't see how MIlan underestimate them at all...

Milan's flowing game against Lecce wasnt seen yesterday evening. Quite a number of blunders made by Milan (Maldini included) was a real cause of worry. Maybe its the weather, maybe its complacent over newly-promoted teams, whatever the case, it was nothing short of a stalmate. Palermo was really pitting against the Serie A champion. Their attack was threatening , their defence was organised. Cannot believe my eyes they r actually Palermo.

But the one thing i am happy is Milan did not lose this. There were serveral chance for Palermo to put 1 behind us but Dida was to save our blushes. Overall, i dun think Milan was poor but it is Palermo whom was performing really well @ their Sicillian home. Credits to them.

Lets focus on extending the lead between the top 2 among the others against Udi

Palermo has the 3rd best defensive record in Serie A, behind Juve and you guessed it, Milan. Overall we created enough chances to win the match but the one thing missing is SCORING. We've failed to score in our last 2 away games in Serie A (albeit to 2 of the best defensive sides) but in both of those games we created more than enough chances to snatch 3 points. Let's just hope it's not 4 costly points dropped come May

Well, not the best result, but were still in the hunt to say the least.

The performance wasn't as bad as it could have been and in the second half we improved a lot.

Dida was very solid and didn't have so much to do, but made one amazing save.
Cafu was solid, nothing special going forward.
Pancaro was also solid, supported attacking moves well, but seems to lack distribution
Billy was great, very good performance.
Maldini was himself, solid as ever
Pirlo was one of our best on the night, showing great distribution of the ball
Dhorasoo played a decent game, but not as good as his other performances of late
Gattuso worked hard, but attacking wise gave the ball away too often
Kaka wasn't at his best. Had a few shots which weren't bad, but overall lacked the quality we have come to expect.
Sheva was fairly decent, often forced deep, but had a couple of decent free kicks and was at times setting up others
Crespo was crowded out

I won't say much about the subs beside Seedorf, who did reasonably when on, but his finishing was poor (especially when he was put through by Sheva)

We weren't bad, but wasted our chances. Palermo's defence deserves credit and really forced us to take long shots (which were often quite close).

We'll catch up with Juve, no need to worry yet

While I only saw the second half of the game, I must say that we didnt look our best in the final third of the pitch.

IMO, Kaka was not having the best of nights, and to me this seemed the perfet match to put in Rui....but Carlo seems to have found his pet player, and come hell or high water, form or the lack thereof, he will play.

Another sub that had me scratching my head was Dhorasso off for Ambro....again, it seems that Carlo isnt happy when he doesnt have a defensive mid on the pitch. That to me sums up what I dislike about Carlo...his overwhelming tendancy to be defensive minded....a more attack minded coach would have more offensive players on the pitch, but I guess we still have enough time in the season to make this game NOT a MUST win.....

Rui's continued absence is a worry to me, as I dont believe he will be here next season, and we need to make the most of his presence this term.

Dhorasso and Rui on the pitch together should be something sweet to behold, as they both can hold on to the ball as they meander through packed defenses....then unleash a crucial pass after their dribbling has created space.

Why then is Carlo so hung up on Kaka? He wasnt having the worst of days, but he could have made way for Rui, while leaving Vikash on...

Ah well, its back to a 4 point defecit, and while that may not seem like much to some, and in reality given where we are in the season, it really isnt, but then again, it is Juve we are trailing, with Don Capello at the helm of a team of proven professionals, still smarting from successive seasons of finishing behind Milan (UCL before, then scudetto last season)...not a pretty picture indeed.

So while some may feel that we are still in with a chance, we cannot afford too many slip-ups like yesterday's, as I guarantee you that Juve will make little or no slip-ups to help us out.

martin is an unknown quantity at this point
we lost this game becuz crespo didn touch the ball, Kaka has lost his ability to shot and lacks some of the dribblin skills he had last year, seedorf was crap when he came on, sheva didn have a good day, and instead of takin shots on target and crossing the ball, our mid jus kept makin stupid passes and buildin up. in a game like this, i think it would have been better to play rui instead of crespo

Ciao!!!

well...the match has been so exciting both Rossoneri I think and Palermitani as well!

Anyway...i was to the 'Favorita and to be honest i really like Milan's play. Palermo has been GREAT as well and Guardalben&Dida have been the main protagonists of tha match. They saved the 0-0!

KAKA' in the half time wasn't so brilliant as the last 45mins.
Damn Guardalben and his hand as well!

Being a sicilian 100% in tha match and support Milan wasn't so easy as u can imagine...; probably u're more and more angry than me about the 0-0 but to be honest i'm proud too about Palermo, and a draw has been RIGHT for the play they made, both Milan and Palermo!!!

Enjoy UDINESE now!!!

and keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep fings. a lot crooooooooooooooossed!!!
Ciao ciao....

The answer is your question is simple: Rui is not as fast as Kaka`, and I have also asked myself this queitson: Will it be bettr to put in Rui really? In the beginning definitely no, but towards the end? It's hard to say. Don't forget, Kaka` is the one who creates the almost-goal shoot, (and a resulting yellow card for the other team)... can Rui do that? This is the question that we need to ask.

Ambro's sub is, on the other hand, obvious to me. It seems that many of you do not appreciate Ambro's ability. Wait, I'm not even talking about his tackling ability. It's his 'header' ability. If you have looked at his position + running, 9/10 times when there is a cross coming, he is the one darted to head the ball (that is, if the cross ever be made). He is MORE than JUST a DM like Gattuso. I can't imagine Gattuso rushing to the penalty area to score from a header. Not at all. It seems that the attitude here towards Ambro is that he can only defense, which is not true. I always bleieve iin Ambro's ability in header, and I still do.

And by the way, you are definitely looking for 'evidence to fit your theory'. And I'll do the same. I see Seedorf, a less defensive mid-fielder substituted Gattuso, a heavily defensive mid-fielder. And I also see that after Seedorf come in, there is very few tackling in the midfield, compared to the time beofre Gattuso made his exit. I'll let you ponder on this point.

And I don't see any guarantee here that Juventus won't slip. By saying that, it seems that you have reached the conclusion that Milan is going to slip. From a Juve. fan point of view, I would be equally worrying because I would say, "Milan is not going to slip". This statement is therefore, groundless. By saying that Capello has a team with proven players, so do we. And we have Ancelotti, who is not as well-known as Capello but who is nevertheless a great tactician. In saying so, even until now, juve fan will say, "We can't slip anymore, becuase I guarantee you that Milan won't slip anymore."

1) We didn't lose the game.
2) Kaka has shot and almost made a goal in the end. He did not lose his ability to shoot. IN this case, everyone on t he field seems to have lost the touch of scoring. Otherwise it wouldn't be a 0-0.
3) Seedorf have a field decent chance and had held the ball better than Gattuso. He is NOT CRAP.
4) Sheva had a o-kay day. He doesn't score doesn't mean that he doesn't have a good day. HE has 2 shot from freekick, both on target, only to be saved by the GK.
5) There are not much room (thanks to Palmero's defense) to take shot. And when we shot, it's blocked by the defenders in the way.
6) We crossed the ball but it didn't reach and got out for corner. The only thing hyou can complain is that freekcik and corners were atrocious (except for Sheva's fk)
7) It's not stupid pass. It's because there are not much room down there when there were 10 players defending. I don't know how you define a smart pass by the way.
Please. Before you make some bold statements like this, think twice. It's really hateful to see post like this.
8) And when Rui came in, you'll say that he played like crap if we didn't score, as it happened to Seedorf.

Again, nothing of the post is based on evidence but emotion.
