Haha..we all know that Galliani has a $250,000,000 annual budget to buy players recommended on this site by his usual advicers (+ comission based on performances..lol)
But jokes aside, we have to realise that we've been playing with the same players (pretty much the same starting 11) for the past 3 seasons. Our team is getting slower, older and more predictable each year. And usually by the second half of the season most of our players look like they are running on an empty tank. I realise that this is partly Carletto's fault for not utilising the players at his disposal, but to be fair to him with the exception of Billy, Inzaghi, Jankulovski and Ambro (some ageing, some injury prone) we've hardly got any adequate replacements for our top players. I'm not advocating revolution, but rather evolution of the team. The core of the team must remain intact because we have a balanced and winning formula. However, without being critical of any Milan players in particular some players in the first team either lack the consistency or the physical fitness that we need when we are fighting on all fronts throughout the season. Not only that, but against the younger and more physical sides in Europe (e.g. Barca, Lyon, Ajax, PSV) we have suffered immensely. Thus, I believe that if we get 2 new quality young players (a defender and a winger), not only would they provide some much needed reinforcements towards the end of the season, but they could inject some speed and add an extra dimension to our attack. We don't need a wholesale to achieve that, just a couple of shrewd acquisitions and we could revamp the side. I just think it's better two start the rebuilding process now than say having to buy 5 or 6 players in 2007 (when Maldini, Billy, Cafu and probably Seedorf and Inzaghi will leave). Plus, I'm sure that any young player coming in will improve in light years and develop the necessary pride which is a prerequisite for any Milanista by playing alongside these Milan legends, and learning from their experiences whilst they are still here, dont you?? Some of you may agree with me, some may not. But that's the beauty of having this forum; so that all of us fans can come here and share our ideas. And who knows, Galliani might come in here one day and look at some of our ideas and think: "That's a jolly good idea old chap, why the devil didn't I think of it myself!" hahaha FORZA MILAN AND THE DEVIL WILL BE BACK NEXT YEAR ![]() |

ill have to agree with both lordofthepicth and hitmanq8, i bet were not gonna see so many changes, and eventhough i want diarra more than anything, chances of him coming here are still slim, im just expressing how much i appreciate him, but then again i think it is time to see more changes in the team, i never thought this way 1 or 2 summers back because we really didnt need anything, but you feel despite what we are still acheiving, the team doesnt look as liquidy and as agile as before, and it is also losing its feroicity on the pitch with time, thts why i want players like gallas, hes very very agile for his size, hes known to be a nutcase which really scares opponents off, and hes aggresive, and diarra, hes a BEAST!!! it takes alot to get by him (he shut down kaka completely throughout the 2 legs) and he can start plays and join the attack, as for oddo, im not going to bet on having a fresh cafu anymore, and even if gallas can play there, so did stam and it wasnt the same, oddo has a great crossing ability and is very good going forward and can defend!
now i dont know how much they would cost in total... maybe 30M, and im not saying they would fit in instantly, but if i had to place my bet on the most successful transfers we can make i would go for those 3 |

I think u are too overrating Diarra...
I mean honestly hom many times did u see him play? And as for closing down Kaka, well it's ain't too hard this days. Edmilson did the same and Kaka almost disappeared from the pitch in both legs... I think the main reason for Kaka poor performance is not the opponents guard, but our own failure... we were unable to create enough pressure and movement, to allow Kaka some free space to move. I don't think spending 20 millions on Diarra is a smart move... |

Its easy to close down kaka' becouse pirlo and seedorf are too slow and dont move well in attack, and gattuso in not dangerous with the ball. Kaka' has sno real suport from the CM's. Diarra is worth 20 min,and news today are saying Lyon wants 30 but Galliani is offering 25. I would trade Oirlo for Diarra every second now. We dont need more than 30mil for a great team lloking like this......
.......................dida............. oddo......nesta.....gallas....jankulovski ......................diarra........... .........gattuso............seedorf... .......................kaka.......... ..........sheva..........gila/pippo But, first what we need to do is sell Carlo to Madrid. And bring a coach who is ready to change things, becouse if its up to Carlo, sedorf-pirlo.gattuso would play together for another 5 years.....

i agree on edmilson, i think if not dida or stam, edmilson would be man of the match and man of the entire tie, but are u kidding me?? kaka is very very veryyyyyy hard to mark, our problem was that pirlo was having an off game and season in general, and serginho was obviously tired, this only left kaka and seedorf as the only possible solutions to start an attack, barca man marked them both very hard (something we shouldve done with ronaldinho in the first leg) ... and we werent able to create very dangerous attacks |

This is the team, there will be a few departures and a few arrivals. It’s only a matter of fine tuning. Lucarelli is a great player, but we already have four strikers and they are Gilardino, Inzaghi, Shevchenko and Amoroso. The negotiation for Favalli is underway, we have informed Inter and it is a possibility.’ -galliani

anyone fancy translating this for me?

GALLIANI: ‘Only a few new players’
28/04/2006 ROME – Adriano Galliani spoke about Milan's possible trades: ‘This is the team, there will be a few departures and a few arrivals. It’s only a matter of fine tuning. Lucarelli is a great player, but we already have four strikers and they are Gilardino, Inzaghi, Shevchenko and Amoroso. The negotiation for Favalli is underway, we have informed Inter and it is a possibility.’ (Source ANSA) They posted it in English too ![]() Seems like Favalli is coming then. |

Transfer fees are super inflated these days, no player is worth the sums of money being reported. However, Diarra is a player who we need in our midfield. I would also say that at least one other new midfielder should be bought to go into our starting 11 to refresh everything. We are stale, slow and predictable in the midfield and it's time for a change and unfortunately to get the calibre of player Milan deserves we need to pay these ridiculous prices.

I can't say I'm too pleased that we're buying a 34 year old, fairly mediocre player. But I suppose he will only be a back-up.
I agree with what's being said about the transfer fees. They are ridiculous these days, but if we want to stay competitive, we will have to spend a lot of money. And I think it's weird that we don't have more funds available for transfers, so we could avoid buying players that are nearing the end of their careers. Even without Berlusconi, Milan is making a lot of money (3rd highest income in the world), so it doesn't really make any sense to me. What I do understand is that a few players will be leaving us this summer. Stam is definitely leaving, Rui Costa could be leaving, Vogel could also be leaving and Maldini and Billy are getting very old. So we need at least two new defenders and probably two midfielders. |

If I was Mr. Galliani I would be embaresed to say that there are negotiations going on for Favalli. Other teams are getting young good players. Juve watns: Suazo, Barzagli, Jouqin ( not sure how to spell it, the guy from Betis), Marcchioni is already signed. Come on Galliani open your eyes, we don;t need no 35 years old man. Our defence is old as it is.

Why are you guys all saying how old Favalli is?
I mean come on, he is just 34! A promising youngster in the eyes of Galliani ![]() Anyone under 40 in our defense is considered young |

Personally, as I mentioned earlier, I would be more than happy with 1 young defender (Barzagli/Kris) and 2 new midfielders (maybe Diarra/Mascherano and Sneijder). Plus, with the exception of Kaka (and Pirlo when on form) our midfield is becoming slow and predictable. We need to inject some frseh blood into the team.
I seriously hope the Favalli thing is just a bad joke from Galliani and co to ditract everyone's attention while they do some underhand dealings ![]() because we have plenty of experienced cover in San Paolo, Billy and Serginho. We do not need an ageing mediocre player like him at Milan who will have no real contribution other than to bump the average age of the team to above 30. There are plenty of talented young players out there who will not cost an arm an a leg and who can become future stars (e.g. Barzagli, Luisao, Mascherano, Sneijder, Huntelaar amongst many) and we must show the same initiative that brought us Kaka before anyone else had a chance to say KA..WHOOOO??. Otherwise, the dark side (AKA JUVE, INTER, CHELSEA, MAN U, MADRID) will prevail ![]() |
