SANT , i don't know if you've allrady talked about Milan's World Champions. I couldn't find such thing here
Here it is anyway :

11 players became World Champions with their National teams while playing for Milan ( that's 9th best record of all time, behind Juventus (25 World Champions), Inter (20) , Bayern ( 16), Roma ( 16) , Santos (15) , Penarol ( 14) , Nacional (13) , Sao Paolo (12) .

They are :
Italians :Pietro Arcari ( 1934) , Franco Baresi ( 1982) Fulvio Collovati ( 1982) , Andrea Pirlo ( 2006) , Gennaro Gattuso ( 2006) , Filippo Inzaghi ( 2006) , Alberto Gilardino ( 2006) , Alessandro Nesta ( 2006)

French : Marcel Desailly ( 1998)

Brazilians : Roque Junior ( 2002) , Dida in 2002 ( although he wasn't playing for Milan at the time, was Milan's player on loan to Crointhians)


Also , 14 Milan players were very close to becomming World Champions, but they had to accept the Silver medal at the end :

Italians :Gianni Rivera, Roberto Rosato and Pierino Prati in 1970 , Franco Baresi, Paolo Maldini, Alessandro Costacurta, Mauro Tassotti,Demetrio Albertini , Roberto Donadoni and Daniele Massaro in 1994
Swedish : Nils Liedholm ( 1958)
German : Karl-Heinz Schnellinger ( 1966)
Brazilians: Andre Cruz and Leonardo ( 1998 )


Another info connected to World Cups :
47 Milan players were wearing the Italian jersey at the World Cups.
It puts Milan among the top 3 teams that gave Italian National team players at the World Cups, but it's still far behind Juve and Inter who gave 72 and 64 players respectively.
Paolo Maldini and Gianni Rivera participated on 4 World Cups ( Italian record), while Franco Baresi on 3 World Cups

I don't know if such info can be found. Probably somewhere, but i don't know where could i search for such info.
I can search for it , looking at the carierre stats of every single World Champion since 1930 but it will take a lot of time.

EDIT : From what i could find so far, these players were World Cup winners, who didn't win the WC while at Milan, but were Milan players before or after winning it :

Cafu, Kaka, Ronaldo, Oddo, Meazza ( won it in 1934 and 1938, and later in his carierre he played for Milan also) , Pasinati ( 1938 won the WC while at Triestina and in season 1939-40 played for Milan) , Schiaffino ( won the WC in 1950 with Uruguay and in 1954-1960 he played for Milan ) , Altafini ( 1958 with Brazil and was transfered to Milan right after the WC) , Amarildo ( won the WC with Brazil in 1962 and 2 years later he joined Milan) , Jimmy Greaves ( won the WC with England in 1966, and 5 years before winning the WC , in season 1961-62, he played for Milan) , Vierchowod ( won 1982 WC, and played for Milan in season 1996-97) , Daniele Massaro ( won it in 1982 , and he played for Milan from 1986-1994), Paolo Rossi ( won it in 1982 , and played for Milan in season 1985-86), Giovanni Galli ( 1982 - played for Milan from 1986-1990) , Claudio Borghi ( won it with Argentina in 1986, and shortly after, in 1987, he spent 6 months with Milan before signing for Como) , Leonardo ( with Brazil in 1994, and was in Milan from 1996-97, and 2001-02), Vieira ( with France 1998, and played for Milan in 1995-96) , Dugarry ( with France 1998, played for Milan in 1996-97) , Rivaldo ( won it in 2002, played for Milan next season).

It's almost impossibile to find info for Uruaguay players from 1930, and see if some of them used to play for Milan. More or less these are the World Champions who used to play for Milan sometimes during their carrieres, but weren't at Milan when they won the WC !

On FIFA'a official site and on Wikipedia you can find the World Cup squads of all teams from all World Cups, and for every player there's info where was he playing at the time.

He lost it only on penalties in USA94 against Brazil. He is probably the unluckiest player ever to not win anything with the national team in spite of being the best full back of the modern game.

Against Marseille, Ajax, Liverpool... Intercontinental against Velez, Sao Paulo, Boca Juniors... Supercoppa (Italy) several times...

the penalties series against Argentina at home, in 1990 WC... then the final in penalties against Brazil in 1994 WC... against France, once more in penalties, in 1998...
The EURO 2000 against France, when Italy had played a lot better and was winning the game minutes before the final whistle (goals by Wiltord and Trezeguet)...the Intercontinental against Boca in 2003 was lost in penalties... and well... Istambul...

I maybe missing something, I'm not quoting any source, it's just what I remember...

I loved when there were talks about Capitano and how the best defenders like he and Baresi never won the Ballon D'Or he said something like 'I don't care about that individual award just give me World Cup!'

About dramatic losses and Paolo his last WC game is worth mentioning too. It was the South-Korea game.

you're right... I forgot that one... as usual, some injustice there... who could forget Byron Moreno... nobody knows why sent off Totti... South Korea got far because of him...

BTW does anyone know who wore #9 in 1993/94? I bought it on e-bay, the description said San Marco's '89 jersey but I got a #9 from 93/94. Thanks.

Vadim, there was no number allocation in 1993/94. Untill 1995 (or beggining of 94/94 season, I'm not sure now) no player was assigned a certain number therefore no player names were written on the jerseys. The starting 11 players wore numbers 1-11 according to position. Therefore, whoever played as a center-forward wore the #9. So if MVB played he wore the number 9 and if he was on the bench and another player played as a center-forward then that person wore #9. So #9 was nobody's jersey as many players wore it throughout the season.
I think England was the first league to adopt the number+name allocation on a jersey in 1993(not sure on that one).

nefremo, I think you're right on the Milan numbers' not being allocated... I'm not sure about what team/league started definining numbers for the entire season, nor when...

but yes, by memory only, I remember how players would wear different numbers from one game to the other... for instance:
Albertini usually wore 4, but sometimes 10... swaping it with Gullit...
number 9 was Van Basten/Papin/Lentini...
number 5 was Galli/Costacurta
number 7 was Donadoni/Eranio

of course, the jerseys didn't have names on the back during that time...

however, please recall that AC Milan was the first football club to list the players name in the back in the early 80's

Well I don't know that for sure but you claimed it in this thread before that 1981 we we're the ones who paved the way.
