He didnt sign his first contract while being 12 years old, so his team knew what they had in their hands. So theres no reason to put him a 15M clause.

His coming onto the big scene was a bit like Quagliarella's in Italy - a virtual nobody (the type of player a 15mil buy out clause is an astronomical figure btw ) and then all of a sudden everyone is talking about him and wants him ... it's this sudden change in his status as a player that created this presumed discrepancy you are worried about, although I consider even 15 mil a lot of money for a 17 yo player, after all we paid 8-9 for a 21 yo Kaka ... how many do you think had heard of Kaka when he was 17 yo let alone put a 15 mil clause on him.

So you know when Pato signed his first contract and how many times he got a new contract (and when he signed his last one)?

He, Brasileiro, said that no one had heard of the kid before but that he had taken by storm Inter's coaching staff and scouts and they expected very big things from him and were quick to tie him up before some other club snatched him away. Here is the post I was talking about: http://www.milanmania.com/forums/sho...&postcount=236

Well, I knew about him one year or so ago and Im not from Brasil. Heck, there was even talk about him being the best player to come from Rio Grande do Sul since Ronaldinho. And thats a huge compliment given RGdS has produced talents like Anderson, Lucio and Sobis.

if he was so famous as you say, how come no other club snatched him but Internacional and they had to do it quietly so that not much noise is raised around the player, which would would have brought in competition?

And regarding his signing, I dont know if Internacional faced tough competition for his signing, but as far as I know only one team could sign him so being that young we wont know precisely how many teams were hot for him. |

just came back from the Brazil x Korea game
sup guys...
it was a crazy atmosphere and i went crazy.. there was like 35000 people...i kept my section loud.. kept banging the seats so loud and everyone followed.. i made everyone say "PATO" boom boom "PATO" boom boom.. it was awesome! anyway now for the scouting report: Pato: he wasn't good at all.. yes he scored two goals and hit the post, but he missed so many chances because of his nervousness and should have scored more.. he is good at running away from his opponents and breaking free..he also has good skill but we did not see much of it today #13 (amarala orsomething): the brazil right-back was by far the best player on the pitch.. since the first five minutes i had my eyes on him and kept telling my friends to keep an eye on him.. he then scored a really good first goal and was all over the Koreans..he was great in defence and even better in attack.. very very good player! #9: he is a tall black guy with very long braids i dont know his name but he is a good striker and held the ball well.. he played better than Pato IMO.. no one else deserves a mention but there was the korean CM who is very good and played alot like pirlo.. dont know what number thoughh.. oh ya.. also Brazil's left back #6 MARCELO had an ok game.. he showed some moments of genius but in general wasn't good.. |

I've seen the geme on TV and PAto looked really nervous. Its not easy for 17 year old to play for his country on a WC and having milions of dollars on his back, being watched by all those scouts and so on...you could see he is nervous all the time.
But still, aldough he plays a little too much now and they, doing backheels and stuff, his technique and touch are full of class. And for him there are two ways to go 1. he can become a dribbler like Robinho 2. He can come to Milan and become a real player that plays real football and doesnt do any unnecessary stuff on the field.... Also, Brazil played badly and there wasnt any space for organized passing game, and becousew of that we couldnt see Renato doing his moves well... Pato is still young, very young, but he has it all.

Pato was unknown
Hi guys, my name is Samuel and I'm from Brazil. I've been following this forum for quite a while, and now i decided to register. Sorry for my poor english, btw
Well, concerning Pato, I can say to you that he was unknown for the majority of the population 1 year ago. In fact, he had his first Pro game on Inter, against Palmeiras, in Sao Paulo, by the end of November 2006. In this game, this unknown kid made a goal and set other 3, and showed some amazing skills on the field. Since Palmeiras and Internacional are two of the major teams here in Brasil, it was huge. It's like if Milan went to play against Juve, and a new kid made something like that. Before that, no one knew who was this kid, except, I guess, some Internacional fans, and people of Porto Alegre (the city where Internacional belongs). Since Porto Alegre is in the deep south of Brasil, the things that happens there are pretty much unknown in the rest of the country. If he was playing in Sao Paulo (city) or Rio de Janeiro, where the majority of the sport press works, maybe he would have been noticed before. As Kaka, who came to the spotlights when playing for the Sao Paulo (team) in a junior tournament. Even today, he is not as frequent on the newspapers or Tvs as some mediocre players that plays in the teams of SP or RJ. It's something related to our sports media culture, very centered in theses two locations. Last edited by huh; 04-07-2007 at 13:11. |

He shows flashes of brillance but then you have to make the decision if he is worth 15M+ euros. I have no doubts he is far from being able to contribute for a big side like Milan, in Serie A.
