Yes, jcastagn, but that's unlikely without some investments in the current squad

What makes me worry is the fact that UEFA Cup match is scheduled to be played on Thursday. Given our current team, we will struggle to regain the fitness to play serie A games on Sunday. And with the slow start at the beginning season, at the second half of the season the pressure will become almost unbearable.

I don't worry too much about that Nalx. I think we'll have a much more balanced team with rotations. Kaka' will not be playing every single UEFA cup game, like he had to in the CL. It will be a good chance to blood youngsters, and the psychological pressure is not as high. Plus, all signs I get are that the team next year has goal number 1 as the scudetto. Look at Bayern, they just seem to be the easiest template to compare with, as they reloaded their squad, enjoyed a good cup run, and bossed the league. My feeling from what I've read regarding their losing in the uefa cup is something along the lines of "oh well, we won the league and are back where we belong, it was fun, see ya in the real deal". Milan can cope with this, unless we get drawn a group that includes matches in Siberia, Finland, and some other horrible conditions to travel.
I have a feeling we are going to rampage at the beginning of the year, and like there might be a deal with Carlo such as "If you are not in the top 3 and more than 5 behind the leaders, you are gone". This will eliminate the horrible starts that we've suffered. Plus, there won't be CL qualifying, and we'll see how the players return from EURO 2008. We'll be better at the start or carlo is sacked this year i'm sure. |

We wont focus in UEFA as we've done in 2001/02 with Carlo. Normally we concentrate more in CL (means we dont use important players in Leauge's games before CL's games if the recovery time is too short) then in UEFA is the opposite. We will save our stars' energy in UEFA matches for Serie A games (if the time between UEFA game and Serie A game is too short).

why cant we focus on both? i read everyone is saying we wont focus on uefa and only on the league but we cant we do both...that will really show our worth instead of concentrating on 1 single thing every eyar why not multiple like the coaches and mangament promise us every season? look at Man u...they win the league and the CL they also made it far in the FA cup...Carling cup...while we make up excuses and go for one single thing...when will we ever be like the old milan? where we could litterly challenge on all fronts....

because UEFA is not a priority; just like you won't hear people saying, 'let's focus on coppa italia and serie A"...
But, if you ahve enough squad depth, why not ? |

i wont say this UEFA Cup isn't the priority. well.. to cocky if you say that. because history tells many big teams failed to won that. lets just say we will meet different clubs and different styles of football. the one that has to stick in our head that higher probability that we will meet the club that we never see them playing before. that's the challenge. i think the key when Zenit won the cup before met Rangers and beat Bayern is also because of that. surely, Zenit players and coach often see Bayern plays in Bundesliga. but Bayern .. i dont think they will even think "wow.. today is Zenit's game, gotta get my TV and catch for it" that's why they never knew how Zenit plays. probably we will meet many strange club in this competition. lol.. those clubs names quite funny indeed: Metalist Kharkiv (their name remains me with the name like some magician or something ^^ ), Mlada Boleslav (i always think about prime minister whenever i hear this name ^^ ), Litex Lovech (sounds like toy company or something made from plastic ), Midtjylland (alot remains me with Disneyland ). but never underestimate them. who knows that our 1st squad with Kaka, Pirlo, Seedorf, Pato, Pippo, Nesta (or even Flamini the new comer include them) will lose against the team from Disneyland like Midtjylland never say never.. the ball is round ![]() |

For example look at Arsenal this season. They did well until the second half of the season before their brilliant performance rapidly declined. Some suggested it was due to immaturity. But Sir Alex Fegusson theorized that the injury of some key players cost them the EPL and UCL. On the other side look at what SAF has done this year. He has Rooney, Giggs, Ronaldo, and Park on his disposal. If it were Milan, I'm sure that the board wouldn't bother to do some mercato. But SAF chose to buy Nani, Tevez and Anderson, and his decision paid off. Towards the end of the season while other teams began to lose their key players due to injuries or fatigues, MU maintained their pace both in EPL and UCL. Galliani said after the win against Inter that Milan can beat any team if they have their complete squad. That's true. But we can't expect Kaka or Pirlo to be as creative as they can be after playing for 40 matches can we?
