those giant pole's have got to be dangerous...if you pulled out a flare, or whatever, you would be immediately pounced on by gaint security guards, & taken to jail...
your are fined heavily for having contraband at games, especially something that could hurt, impale or cause a fire! all drinks are served in plastic or paper cups...they actually pat your nuts as you enter through the turnstiles...go through ladies handbags, baby bags...ect. we have to be quite creative to smuggle our booze in ![]() |

The flags and huge banners are taken just as the game begins (most of them) so it shouldn't cause a big problem for the viewers.
The flares are available outside the stadiums. One of the guys at BBC had actually bought one of these flares for 2 euros and had gone to watch the euro derby in the 2005 season. The flares are in a cylindrical shape. You have to rub the top or the bottom to create friction and that sets the flare off. After some smoke starts to come out of the flare you have to throw it away. So I guess there is no frisking involved.

There was nothing personal in my posts. Also, I never said that you could've been my child, so the precise age difference doesn't matter. I am turning 50 soon and will keep posting here till I turn 60. |

In short : The crisis talks between Government and football authorities have concluded and the season is set to resume this weekend, but only in stadiums that are up to code ! It would be a heavy blow to Serie A, where only four stadiums currently fit the bill – the Olimpico in Rome, Palermo’s Barbera, the Franchi in Siena and Olimpico in Turin. Cagliari, Empoli, Messina, Parma, Reggio Calabria and Genoa are almost completed and may be granted a temporary court order to allow fans into some or all sections. Milan, Livorno and Florence are further back in the work needed to qualify under the Legge Pisanu. All other stadiums in Serie A will not be allowed to let fans in for the foreseeable future, including Udine, Catania and Bergamo.

SAN SIRO ANSWERS THE CALL
2/6/2007 4:57:00 PM The San Siro 2000 Consortium are ahead of the game and can already affirm that the stadium is up to the new safety standards MILAN - Chief executive of the San Siro 2000 Consortium, Alfonso Cefaliello, spoke about the important work that is underway in an interview on Studio Milan: 'The San Siro is up to standard. Some time ago we started on a series of security projects along with the law enforcement, projects which we further developed with Pisanu's law. The turnstiles will be complete by the end of October. The San Siro has been equipped with a system of close-circuit cameras and sections have been closed off from one another. We are working on closing the ramp to limit the access of fans that don't have a right to access the second tier. The UEFA 2012 committee had nothing but praise to sing in their recent visit for our candidature. The San Siro should not be closed. The Police know that it is just a technicality. It is not anybody's fault, but it takes time to install, not only the turnstiles, but we also have to move the gates a few meters back.' Cefaliello continued: 'We play a technical role in all of this in order to support the police units. Thanks to our closed-circuit cameras, the police can intervene immediately in case something happens. The San Siro is already meeting a superb level of security. With the introduction of the turnstile and pre-filter, things will become even more secure. The turnstiles are designed to allow only one person at a time to enter and only if they have the proper documents to enter. There will also be a pre-filter zone as required by Pisanu's law. Finally, the third tier of fans has been positioned so as to avoid direct contact between the police and fans, as has happened in the past.' www.acmilan.com |

Things in Argentina and Italy are very similar. I can see a resemblance to what happens to the ultras and our barra-bravas. To explain italian situation, it would be nice to have an explanation from franco or giovani. To answer briefly some of your questions i should say: first: ultras are supported by the club and can walk into the facilities with what ever they want, as kui said, earlier before the match, or through some employee. second: why would they want to do that? because for these guys, the croud in the stands plays as another element of the game, so the croud must have atention and show that a astadium is not a theatre. third:i dont know if you are being sarcastic here, but flags are harmless, and if you are interseted in see the match with no obstacles, stay home and watch the tv. I go to the stadium every week and i dont understand people who just goes and gets pisted because they cant see the match because of banners on the fence, or the flags in the stands...this wast just a personal coment Italians and us are in my opinion most pasionate footall fans in the world...and here, this pasion plus general institutional chaos turns to be a deadly combination. To put an example. Im just an ordinary supporter, but when i go to the home matches, i do it really early, before the police gets to the stadium and starts making controls and stuff, most of all because they search your pockets, your bags, they make you open your banners, they check if they have the standard size, etc. So i just go, open the door to the home stands, i say hi to the club's keeper and i go through. And i could have with me anything i want.... Violence and death is something you learn to live with in argentinian football. It is sad, but true. And not only in the stadiums, but in higways when 2 rival crouds of supporters meet traveling to see diferent matches, in the street every day, in bars, pubs, etc.Even i was atacked last september not far from where i live, just for being in some park with my club jersey in the wrong neighbourhood. I could have been killed, luckly i just had a broken finger, 2 stiches in my head, a brown eye and some punches around my body. But being there and having 10 people kicking you in your face, liying on the floor, just makes you realise that we have come to the point where many people just dont care about other people's life, and not even their own. 2 almagro ultras where killed by Deportivo Moron's ones last year (this wasnt reported officialy) in the higway that goes from Buenos Aires to Rosario, where both clubs played that day, against different rivals. Nothing happened to non of both clubs, because the authorities never got to know about these incidents, and things like these happen every weekend. Organization of the matches, and the security of these, is inhands of crazy, ignorant and sick people, maybe sicker than Ultras or some violent supporters. The authorithies have tried everything to stop the violence. Taking points away, stadium suspensions, closed door matches, playing an entire matchday of all leagues with no visitor fans, ecenomic punishments, even guys that where in jail, and guys that have prosecutions (Boca and River Ultra's leaders) keep going to the stadiums..... In nations with corrupt auithorities violence is never going to have an end, because violent supporters will always have support from the clubs, or from politicians, mobs, or just the support from more violent people. I could go on and on talking about this, and speak about how police plays a very important role in football violence, but for respect to the victim i wont, and i will just end my post saying im sorry about this, i hate cops but this time it seems that they didnt had nothing to do with incidents, and specially this guy. PASSION: YES VIOLENCE: NO

Harsh punishment is a necessity here. Banning every single one of those damn bastards for life and put their asses in jail. They think killing and rioting is funny. Well, they should hope their boyfriends in the big house will be funny too.

Serie A Ground Saftey Issues
as we know many grounds in Serie A may/will be shut to the fans until they reach the required saftey standard Torino's/Juventus ground is going to be kept open and the San Siro is 99% to be kept open. but what does this meen for the revenue of the smaller clubs in Serie A because dont the gate reciptes keep the club going in some aspects of there dailey running will they suffer a crippling blow in there pockets forcing them to raise money someother way or will they have to pay the money to improve the saftey of the ground and hope they can re genarate the losses later on in the season?

I'm a little surprised at the lack of safety procedures they have had in the Italian stadiums. I thought turnstiles have been standard at stadia of all kinds for like years (if only as a crowd control measure). Heck, I went to a match in Brussels last year and they practically took your blood type before you could buy a ticket (it was a little excessive). And this is the Belgians we are talking about, noy exactly known as a bunch of big-time hooligans or rioters. Shouldn't UEFA have had a standard for top division club grounds? They like to meddle in everything else, why not something important?
And don't kid yourselves, if clubs didn't want rough ultra supporters around the stadia, they wouldn't be there. I know that the Catania incident was a little different than most, in terms of who was involved, but the fact still stands that clubs frequently encourage a certain type of "fan" and then have a problem when they can no ,onger "control" them in the manner they'd like to.
