MILAN vs napoli

Wow.. I think most of us heart rate still hasn't slowed down from that lucky win against Chievo but we move on as always.

We are going into the final part of the season with a lot of bandaids and i see a lot of make shift line ups in our future.

Napoli worries me because of their attack.. Im hoping to see Flamini def. play and we have to play with 2 strikers. I hope we are getting some of our injured players back for this game and i really hope the gooch is practicing with the team because i know he doesnt have many fans here we need young strong guy who can run for the whole game. And i hope our Primavera kids start training with us so we can have options.

B&G pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee hear our cries lets get youth and we need a lot of players i mean a lot.

Geo get the F in hear my french 1/4 brotha and show these wonderful people the stats....

After 28 games played:

1st - Inter (59 pts)
2nd - Milan (58 pts)
3rd - Roma (53 pts)
4th - Palermo (46 pts)
5th - Juventus (45 pts)
6th - Sampdoria (44 pts)
7th - Genoa (42 pts)
8th - Napoli (41 pts)
9th - Cagliari (39 pts)
10th - Fiorentina (38 pts)
11th - Bari (38 pts)
12th - Parma (37 pts)

20/03/10 - 18:00
Fiorentina - Genoa

20/03/10 - 20:45
Palermo - Inter
Roma - Udinese

21/03/10 - 15:00
Cagliari - Lazio
Milan - Napoli
Bari - Parma

21/03/10 - 20:45
Sampdoria - Juventus

What should we expect:
- Fiorentina - Genoa is an intersting game as both teams must win, Genoa to keep their chances to qualify for the next CL, Fiorentina to still have hopes for the Europa League next season (and who knows, if the results go in the same way as last W-E once or twice again, Fiorentina could come back in the race for CL).
- Palermo - Inter has a draw written on it for me ... I don't expect another loss from Inter, it would be too good to be real. But I don't expect a win from them after their midweek game against a very good Palermo side. It has to be noticed that Palermo lost last W-E and will have to get a result !!
- Roma - Udinese, I don't see anything else but a win for Roma or a draw at best. Udinese seems to be back to a good level, but it's still fragile I think.
- Sampdoria - Juventus ... Well, for Juventus, after their 3-0 to 3-3 draw at home against Siena, a team standing at the last place in Serie A, it is a must-win game, they have no other choice !! And I hardly see them winning unless they send a B team in Fulham, which can't be accepted regarding the situation of the Italian championship. If they do so, it could be interpreted as a way to shoot a bullet in their own feet as they are a team fighting for the 4th place this season and there's nothing that allows people to think they won't do the same thing next season.

And the most interesting to end this post: Milan - Napoli !!

Statistics about Napoli:
- they lost two games in a row, which didn't happen before in this season for them
- they are in a 7 games witout victory run ... conceding 10 goals and scoring 5 goals
- They won 4 games away, drawed 4 times and lost 6 times ...

Our side won 10 games at home, drawed twice and lost twice.
We are in a 8 games unbeaten run ...

The question is: who will be back and fit (let's not send on the pitch a player who is 75% fit and who will get an injury), and as a consequence, who will be able to play ?!

And to conclude, as I said we would be at the top of Serie A with +4 after this serie of games, I keep posting these results:

Inter (1 point):
- Genoa (H) ; 0-0 (1 point)
- Catania (A); 1-3 (0 point)
- Palermo (A)
- Livorno (H)
- Roma (A)

Milan (4 points):
- Roma (A) ; 0-0 (1 point)
- Chievo (H) ; 1-0 (3 points)
- Napoli (H)
- Parma (A)
- Lazio (H)

Roma (2 points):
- Milan (H) ; 0-0 (1 point)
- Livorno (A) ; 3-3 (1 point)
- Udinese (H)
- Bologna (A)
- Inter (H)

And my reply about that in the Banter topic: http://www.milanmania.com/forums/sho...postcount=3361

It's unrealistic to wait him for the last games (unless there are games in 2 months actually ?).

It is still early to predict the starting line up.

I really want to see: Abate, Antonini, Bonera, Pato. Especially Pato, he is deadly in counter as Napoli plays attacking football. That means our defense must concentrate at highest level.

If Oddo - Fava - Zam again, Gattuso/Flamini - Pirlo - Ambrosini is required.

Anyway, Forza Milan!!!

Really early to be opening this thread, but a lot of people did start to discuss the game in the Chievo thread.

Napoli generally worry me but if we are playing at home it's a huge relief. In the first leg this season, we all saw what they were able to do with their stadium's support in the dying minutes. Right now they are in a really bad run of form, so that is in our favor… but I still wouldn't feel too safe, especially with our injury list.

Hard to say who will play one week before the match, but I predict it will be Thiago-Favalli in the middle, since I'm not sure Bonera will be fit. That really scares me, knowing the pace of Lavezzi and also Quagliarella's skill. For our sidebacks, I have no idea what the situation is like. Abate and Antonini's situations are unclear but I would prefer them, if fit, to play this game.

In midfield and attack I expect the usual suspects. Unless Pato comes back.

Then we have Doria away, Genoa away ( I think ) etc. It will be tough... Luckly for us merda has Chelsea today and PAlermo on the weekend. Palermo is in a CL fight so we can expect a great game and hopefully our no.1 spot on sunday evening!!

Feels real good to see the table smiling back at us. Never imagined this at the start of our season. But we still need to bring some reinforcemnets especially in the defence in the summer. What worries me is if B & G will be content with the perfomance of the team this season and leave it unchanged for the next season. I think we should beat Napoli. Hope Pato will back on. His injury has been a further blow to us especially in CL.

My team:
---------Abiatti--------
-Oddo/Zambro--Silva--Favalli--Antonini(if fit)/Zambro
----Flamini---Pirlo-----Ambrosini
--- B22/P7--H11/Pippo---R80
I still dont understand y Leo uses H11 on the right. He just cannot run down and defend or the hold the ball. He s best when he strikes it on goal. I think B22 should play more on the right to hold the ball and play it for H11/Pippo. Pippo is a smart player, and he did decently against Chievo, but i still believe he s lost his legs(in terms of speed).

Some stats:

Milan - Napoli (At San Siro)

30 wins for Milan
11 wins for Napoli
20 Draws

Last draw at San Siro was in 1998, last Napoli win at San Siro was in 1986.

Palermo - Inter (On Sicily)

4 wins for Palermo
8 wins for Inter
10 Draws

Last draw was in 2007, last Palermo win on Sicily was in 2005.

Anyways, right now the biggest difference between our Schedule and Inters is that we've had Roma twice. I agree with Mrki that if we're to win the Scudetto we need to take the lead in the next month or so while Inter has a tough schedule, because our last couple of games are very tough.

An update on our injured players: Pato and Antonini did some directional changes and "stretches/lengthenings" (allunghi dunno really what this is), while Mancini just did the latter. My guess is that they wont be match fit for a start in sundays game.

This W-E: +1
After the Roma game: +4

It was, is and will be my prediction until the last second of the 5th game of the list I wrote !!

PS: I could be wrong as we could be at +5 (if they lose against both Palermo and Roma) at that time !!

Our last matches:
  1. Napoli-Milan
  2. Milan-Parma
  3. Lazio-Milan
  4. Milan-Cagliari
  5. Catania-Milan
  6. Milan-Sampdoria
  7. Milan-Palermo
  8. Fiorentina-Milan
  9. Milan-Genoa
  10. Juventus-Milan

Inter:
  1. Palermo - Inter
  2. Inter - Livorno
  3. Roma - Inter
  4. Inter - Bologna
  5. Fiorentina - Inter
  6. Inter - Juventus
  7. Inter - Atalanta
  8. Lazio - Inter
  9. Inter - Chievo
  10. Siena - Inter

Both have quite the same amout of hard matches. Theirs are at the beginning (plus CL matches if they qualified) and ours at the end. They must also face the teams that fight to advoid relegation (Livorno, Atalanta, Siena). We must take this chance.

You forgot to flip the away/home. We're playing Napoli, Juve, Catania at home, and vice versa.

We still have to go to Palermo and Genoa, but the rest of the 'tough' games are at home. I'm actually not worried about those, i'm more worried about general consistency and injuries. We have a week before every game now, so tiredness (which was evident with Chievo) won't be an issue anymore. That would hopefully mean less injuries, generally. Let's hope we can get Pato back, and maybe Bonera at least, soon.
