Mostly SANT. I just put interesting facts about Milan that I can dig up.

Did you know why they changed it? They were FC Milan until 1938, as you said, when the fascist regime of Mussolini wanted to change it to an Italian name. During that time they were know as AC Milano, but after 1945 simply AC Milan stuck.

Milan's first great star was Renzo de Vecchi, a defende. He was with the team from 1909, when he was just 15, to 1909 when he was bought ny Genoa for a record sum. He also became captain of the Italian national team.

Milan's longest spell without an Italian championship was between 1907 and 1951, 44 years.

Correct, 44 years without a scudetto... hard to imagine...

and during the fascist regime, Milan was forced to use a white jersey with a black line and a red line vertically across the chest (like the away jersey of... 96??)
instead of the traditional red/black stripes...

Why? Honestly I don't know...

At the time, Inter was the "official" team of the regime... but they also had to change the name, and were called Ambrosiana Inter for a few years...

I have a question, not just regarding Milan but Serie A. As I found out, the Serie A as we know it was restructured by the FIGC in 1929. So was the Italian championship known as the Scudetto from 1929? Or were titles won before that year also called the Scudetto? I couldn't find this information.

the scudetti have always been that... just that there have been several changes in the league, most caused by political events like the WWII...

I think I remember now noticing that before every CL kick off when they are calling names and making the list and such, in Inter matches its GM nd in Milan matches it's San Siro

I want to bring back to life this great post by one of our members, "San Siro"

anyone interested in Milan's history... here you have it...

I promise to add on the recent history soon (Berlusconi Era)

105 Anni di Historia. 105 Anni di Successi.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

105 years of History. 105 years of Successes and triumphs everywhere!

Let us revive some of these moments in images, that I have scanned from my Forza Milan! mags. A big  for Smoje for having uploaded them!

I didn't scan the pics of the first part of the Century and now I realize I should have (note to self, to do that in the next few days! ). The first pics are from the 1950's first titles and triumphs.

The founder of Milan, Sir Herbert Kiplin

The very first picture ever of a Milan team!

The 1950's, the ressurection: 3 Swedes, 4 Scudetti

After a long lean period, the 1950's were a decade of plenty joys for the Milanisti due to Milan's numerous titles during that time.
The Herores of the 1950 Scudetto led by the Legendary Gre-No-Li Trio!

The 1960's, a Golden Boy for the Golden Years

In the 60's, also referred to as Gli Anni d'Oro (The Golden Years), Milan continued in the tradition which was established in the 1950's, that is of a victorious and triumphant team. This time around, those successes would also go onto spread to the International scene. The 1961-62 Scudetto team with some new additions such as a certain Giovanni Trappattoni and one who would become the symbol of Milan for the following 30 years, Gianni Rivera.

oh, man, you're right... just like 2 or 3 of those pics are still there... gee, let me see if I can find new links that work...

and thanks for the comment, sometimes we forget that many fans don't really look back that far into our team's history... after all, Milan wasn't born in the Sacchi days, or for some younger members, during the Ancelotti days
