Milan - Auxerre Match Day 1 September 15 2010 20:45
Never too early, two weeks to match day 1. New looking lineup, we are ready for the tough group.
Forza Milan

Too bad we are playing Real last, they really look out of shape atm.

which is still fine by me as long as we rap up 6 points from the first 2 games and then go into them double headers in the best shape possible the first two games are vital and must win just wish for once we could go through on like matchday 4 imagine 12 points out 12 so less stressful than the matchday 6 needing to qualify scenarios

We gotta move on from the Cesena game, and it's great that we don't have to wait a whole week/or two to do that as we already got a game coming on Wednesday.
I saw Auxerre play against Zenit in the qualifications and they aren't a very good team. Surprised to see them in the CL coming from France. But they are here and can cause a problem just like any team. Against Zenit they were the second best IMO, but they somehow scrapped through and made it. They can be physical and closed up as that's how they looked like for some periods against Zenit. Haven't really seen them in the French Championship much so I can't comment on how they have been doing there this year. Although seeing the table in Ligue 1, they are at 18th place (3rd from the bottom) and are yet to win in the league. Have 4 points (4 draws -1 loss) from 5 games and have only scored 5 goals in those games while conceding 7. Today they drew 1-1 at home with Caen after giving up a goal in the last minute. They have nothing to lose however and there is no pressure on them. But knowing a little bit about their style, I don't think they'll try and take the game to us. But I think that they will keep things tight at the back and be physical. Perhaps hit us on the counter....kind of like Cesena did today. About the line up, I would like to and hope to see ------------Abbiati---------- Zambrotta-Nesta-Silva-Antonini ---Ambro---Pirlo---Seedorf/KPB-- --Pato------Ibra------Ronaldinho Pretty much the same line up as the game against Lecce. The changes from the game against Cesena being Zambrotta(or Abate) instead of Bonera and Seedorf(KPB if Clarence is not ready) instead of Gattuso. I would play Flamini instead of Ambrosini as well, however seeing that he hadn't returned from injury against Cesena, I don't see how he can possibly be ready for Wednesday (at least not ready enough to start the game). Forza Milan. We really need this win to start the CL campaign on the right foot and with 3 points. It'll also bring the enthusiasm back to the squad and the fans.

... I wouldn't mind seeing Robinho in Ronnies spot, considering his ghost-like game against Cesena... but, I bet Ronnie will play like a beast to make up for Saturdays game. |

We should win; particularly after the loss at Cesena, I think we will win.

We should beat Auxerre , SHOULD but as last Saturday showed us nothing is certain. We'll need more in midfield than we showed against Cesena which basically means Ambro and Rino cannot play together and certainly not as far forward.

--------------Nesta--------T. Silva------------------ Zambrotta---------------------------------Antonini ------------Ambrosini-------Pirlo------------------- ---------------------Seedorf------------------------- --------------------------------------Ronaldinho---- ------------Pato-------------------------------------- ----------------------Ibrahimovic-------------------- I like this lineup as Seedorf, although I've been critical of him lately, can be a link from Midfield-->Forwards.... (Since Pirlo likes to play as a CB) Either Pirlo OR Seedorf need to be willing to move forward to feed forwards... Possible SUBS: Robinho, KPB, Inzaghi, Flamini |

I think Inzaghi will score in this game. He always score in the first group match of UCL
Flamini & KPB should play together. Lets move on and start building team around two battling midfielders.

There are a lot of reasons why we lost to Catania, but a major one was that our wingers didn't track their full backs and Gattuso charged forward too often (without results) and left gaps at the back. With more effort and sacrifice we can solve (to an extent) the first, and with Gattuso gone we can solve the second problem. Or am I too optimistic?

Bad news: It seems T.Silva won't play.
So Bonera could be used as a CD (why not Sokratis ?!) alongside Nesta. Zambrotta could be used on the right. In midfield, it looks like Seedorf and Boateng are in competition for the starting spot.

With Nesta, I think Papa could be more useful. I don't mind Bonera in the middle though, so I will leave it to Allegri.
