yes, many pro-athletes, in pretty much every sport earn just too much money... but it has to do with the commercialization of the teams and players image...

for instance, here in the USA, baseball players minimum salary is like $300,000 U.S. dollars... that's for a guy who is listed active, even if he doesn't play... that's like 230,000 euros... a lot of money...

Yeah I dont know what the moaning is all about. You know in USA Gridiron Football, a place/goal kicker can make as much as an "AllStar" player in Serie A. Now a place kicker only plays a total of 5 minutes in the entire game!

Alex Rodriguez... Major League Baseball player gets $26 Million USD per year! That is not including bonuses.
Amrican GridIron Football player Peyton Manning gets $14.7 Million USD per year. The NFL season is only from September til December and up til February if you make all the way to the Champioship Finals.

Now because there are "salary caps" in most pro sports in the US, the "bonus signing" is a loop hole that teams will give to a player. What is ridiculous is that sometimes the signing bonus is so large, that is the bulk of an athletes TOTAL pay... and he hasnt even played one game for the team yet! Furthermore they can do this thing with bonus signing by putting it in escrow for any future re-negotiating of contract. So if he didnt like his original bonus signing contract, the pro can retroactively ask for more money to be added to his signing bonus against the bind of a contract. If he is not satisfied, his contract is null and he can go to another team! With it, he takes the money for just signing a friggin contract
