yes, many pro-athletes, in pretty much every sport earn just too much money... but it has to do with the commercialization of the teams and players image...
for instance, here in the USA, baseball players minimum salary is like $300,000 U.S. dollars... that's for a guy who is listed active, even if he doesn't play... that's like 230,000 euros... a lot of money...

Furthermore they can do this thing with bonus signing by putting it in escrow for any future re-negotiating of contract. So if he didnt like his original bonus signing contract, the pro can retroactively ask for more money to be added to his signing bonus against the bind of a contract. If he is not satisfied, his contract is null and he can go to another team! With it, he takes the money for just signing a friggin contract
