I'm really impressed by Canada. They play such a modern, quick, and entertaining football. It is totally unfair that they are losing in the first half but that's football. Belgium on the other hand was atrocious.

Japan beating Costa Rica and Spain beating Germany could be very positive outcome of second round.

They are really fun to watch and they go all out. Vertical, aggressive on both ends, high tempo, speed. Sometimes they lack tactically, as it was even seen today. Belgium could have punished them with all the spaces they left behind but they were terrible in doing so. Surprisingly, it was KDB that kept getting the final ball wrong on multiple occasions. Still, imagine you leave Dembele, Mbappe and Theo this type of room to run behind you after your press fails. But this is the way Canada plays, and at least it's very entertaining. I hope they make it out of the group. It'll be tough after losing this first game. And if Japan can keep their feet on the ground and not get carried away, they could easily get 3 points against Costa Rica. That would dump Germany out of the tournament after only two games.

It is perplexing how many bad passes De Bruyne made. They leave a lot of space behind but I would much rather watch this kind of exciting football than Belgium's tedious anti-football.

Yes, Canada's play is good for the neutral fans. But Martinez knows that winning the first game in a World Cup is way more important than entertaining the neutral fan.
