@donlocatelli, regarding your post about costs. I am not saying there was no way the team could be built a different way but
-Auba or a really top forward was not available for 60 last summer
-Bonucci costs 42 not 30,
-Nainggolan would not come here (his type of player was not happening last summer, F&M traveled around Europe for months before closing knowing what they can get, that's why a player like Andre Silva was surprising to most fans, F&M got inside info from Mendes about Porto's cash needs)
-Keita turned us down
The circumstances that the additions were made were all planned *knowing what's available within the young team idea* except Bonucci. I don't think any several big names were even available even if F&M did want to go that way.
a few things...
-auba went to arsenal for 60m in jan when prices are inflated so i don't believe we couldn't have bought him for a similar amount last summer.
-bonucci did cost 42m but essentially it was a 30m + des exchange between both clubs.
-you may be correct about radja but roma are historically a selling club who have a habit of selling their best players every year e.g. salah. regardless, i still think we could've bought sms if we'd thrown big money at him.
-you may be correct about keita but we still could've purchased a proper winger for 25-30m instead of signing hakan who's more of a midfielder.
if its true we struggled to attract big names last year when we had just been taken over for 1bn and there was excitement around our project i hate to think how difficult it will be this year after missing cl and facing refinancing/ffp issues.
