It really is strange to see Pirlo getting so much praise during this Euro. Not because he has been bad, far from it, but because he's been doing this for the past 10 years. Actually he was probably better some years back. To be fair Italian media have always known Pirlo, seeing as they report about Italian teams. It is the foreign media which has suddenly realized who Pirlo is and what he is all about.
The English public probably learned about him when he dominated them in the quarter final (though they should be well familiar with granted he's played in the CL and against English sides). Add to that the Panenka/cucchiaio penalty and you have the recipe to the hype.
