Summer Mercato 2011
Welcome mate.

Obviously, you need to post more often so you don't have to accumulate such long posts. Tongue Devilol

Btw, I agree with what you say, I wonder how this Mercato turns out afterall. Sagrin
Welcome millinarios, new blood is always welcome at MM.
Good post, and must agree with all mentioned.

Only one thing, I think that Ganso is available for much less than the 40-50 mils you mentioned...we could probably get him for 25...

Who would buy him for 40-50 when Pastore went for 43 and Fabregas's asking price is 45 if I remember right....and those 2 are proven in Europe, especially Fabregas

So my opinion is that we should, if financially possible, go for Fabregas (45), or Ganso (25).....distant third is Aquilani ( available for 10 according to his manager) Source:http://www.football-italia.net/aug2p.html
Welcome millinarios Big Grin

I think we will get Montolivo/Aquilani so that our LCM position will be theoretically completed. Even if we fail to get a big name, our squad still can compete for Serie A and qualify the CL Group, and waiting for Winter Mercato.

If we DO have this kind of money to spend (35+mil), and Barca are struggling to get the 40+ that Arsenal wants for Cesc.....then why don't we give Barca 30 mil for Alcantara(who obviously wouldn't mind moving if given a project in which he will have a leading role) and they can go get Cesc. Then with the remaining 5,10 mil that we have we can get Aquilani. End of summer. (wishful thinking though probably)

hmmmm.... because he hasn't worth that much yet? Undecided
MILAN! MILAN! SOLO CON TE!
MILAN! MILAN! SEMPRE PER TE!
I wish Milan offered Napoli €25 Million for Hamsik. Then €8 Million for Aquilani and it's good enough.

If we're willing to go for the full €40Million then go and get Cesc Fabregas and call it a day. Play a diamond with Cesc, Boateng, Gattuso & Van Bommel and we'll be perfect.

Lastly, I'm quite scared about all of these rumors for Balotelli. What a big mistake that would be. I hope we keep Cassano and give him 1 full year to prove his worth.

I like this kid but don't you think 30 M for someone who only shined in summer friendlies and U-21 competition, all took place within a month or two, is excessive?
per l'amaro e il dolce
Not going to give us that something we need in midfield. http://www.football-italia.net/aug2p.html
This is also something we don't need NOW. http://www.football-italia.net/aug2s.html

I was dreaming of a Pastore or a Fabregas or a Hamsik. But we simply do not have that kind of money , Balotelli on loan with an option to buy and Aqualani for 10 million .On paper Mexes Taiwo Balotelli Aqualani looks like a great mercato but IMO it isn't .
A troublesome hot head player and an overrated injury prone midfielder , a solid LB and an injured Backup CB.

Out lack of creativity in midfield will still be there , with Mexes and Taiwo arriving for free on not massive wages , I really did expect a quality creative midfielder and a good second midfielder.
Do we really have less money than Genoa Napoli Juve (well they are spending knowing the stadium will create huge revenue ) we won the league and got two good defenders for free.
This will solve nothing and we'll plod along like last year .

Pace and vision and creativity was badly needed .Someone mentioned how we have no real transfer strategy I think it's true , its a matter of get the best deal loan free or relatively free.Which would be fantastic if it addressed the problem area these two won't.AT ALL.
Thank you all for the welcome Devilcool

Maybe we could get a discount on Ganso, but I remember the president of Santos saying that he wants around 40 millions for him... Of course that's not automatically means he will get it. The fact that several media reported on Ganso beign only interested in joining Milan can work in our favor. If only Pastore would've been that direct in his approach, we could signed him too. But, the question remains about Ganso: is he really suited to play in Serie A? Slow playmakers usually suffer in Italy...

You're right about this one, we did fairly well in our last winter mercato. Well, apart from the fact that our signings could not help us in the CL. In that regard, I think our "summer CL squad" and the "winter CL squad" will be roughly the same in terms of quality, maybe could be a bit stronger if we fill up that non-EU spot with a top class player in january.

I agree, Pastore, Hamsik or Fabregas would've been awesome. As for pace and creativity, I really have high hopes that El Shaarawy can be a valuable asset in 1-2 years. Since we not really have a serious chance to reach CL-glory this season, I would like to see him feature regularly for us, to get him used to the big stage, pick up some body strenght, and kick into full pace for 2012/13... That could be our year.
About the strategy, there some truth about that as well, but this attitute toward transfers is a bit of a necessity for Milan, because of the low budget. But, we have a fairly inventive coach in Allegri, so I trust him to get the most out of the squad, even if we won't sign the best players for the currently vacant positions.
It was only a couple of weeks ago where everyone on this site would have been ecstatic if Mr X= Ganso. Now since the Cesc dreaming (hallucinating?), he's a consolation prize...

Maybe a bit in this factor could be that there was a Copa America in between? Anyway, it would great to read some opinions on him, from someone who follows Brazilian league...
