Milan this is year is the second pot and Inter have beaten us for the first time in a long time.

First seed are: Man U, Barca, Real, Chelsea, Arsenal, Inter, Bayern, Porto..then comes Milan.

Sad we've fallen so much the last 4 years. We used to be the top rated team.

I am not sure if we are much stronger than last year since our improvement could be Taiwo (more fresh than Zambrotta), El Shaarawy (backup for Boateng and could take the role from Boateng) and some young players plus Mexes as CB backup which we have already in Yepes.

Just to tell that we relied on Pirlo a lot in almost first half of last season (until mid December when he got injured vs Roma) and in the second half of the season Seedorf suddenly looked much younger than he was and in form compared to his last 2-3 years with Milan. If we don't have one of them as our source of creativity, we faced problems except we faced small teams and/or got fast goal. Seedorf now is not younger but older and should be worse in term of form and we don't have Pirlo now which makes only Emanuelson as backup for LCM which has not been working well of using him as LCM. We could face problems with only Seedorf as left CM. First of course when he can't play (I do hope he can always play), second problem when he can play but not in form like last half of season and then we would be in trouble since he is older now which makes his minutes of play fewer (he needs to be subbed earlier compared to last season).

I do think the creativity spot or the player on whom the play relies, is our hole, our expected problem. Without any signing of decent creative CM (or quality midfielder with vision), I won't be happy to face the new season. That's not only degrades our opportunity of succeeding in Europe but also decrease our chance in winning Scudetto.

Watching Barcelona vs. Chivas USA

Barcelona's players (all 11) are incredibly technical it's insane to watch them play 1 touch for 40 minutes straight with other team barely sniffing a touch on the ball.

Before the game Pep Guardiola said " You all know, we have but just 1 more signing to make. You all know who it is"

EDIT: Note I'm obviously kidding about signing this guy just because he had two rgeat goals against Barca. I'm making this clear before those certain cranky posters on this site start with the "glad you are not our scout" jibes.

I think that's one of the reasons why we've been taking care of our youth teams seriously these past few years, so that we can instill our club's philosophy of playing football at the early ages. But we won't be reaping anytime soon though, this Barcelona smooth passing style is a result of years and years of hard work back to the days of Cruyff.

On the mercato front, Montolivo's agent confirmed that the negotiation between the two clubs is officially underway. I know it's like picking out the lesser of two evils but supposed that they come in relatively the same prices, which one do you guys prefer, Montolivo or Aquilani?

I don't want to rag on players that may arrive , especially after Boateng .But Aqualani or Montolivo kind of make me go meh.They don't give me that warm feeling inside like Ibra Binho or player's you know will improve the team.
This is king of step backward more than a horizontal move as imo Pirlo is fit is superior to both.Monty hasn't been scoring or creating for a few year's Aqualani is a well he's ordinary good pro but not a quality mid that will make our mid better.

It does seem like an oh they cheap kind of move , surely the MGT know neither of these guys are going to improve us that much they are both 27 and never progressed like we thought , but hey lets sign one anyway.It seems like a move to appease the fan's you know.We got our Mr X , if anyone believes that Raiola was working on a transfer for 8 months now , and the quality LM (LM, both are CM) we were waiting for was Aqualani or Montolivo then they'd be wrong.

I find our transfer strategy or lack of mind boggling.We sold Kaka to balance books.We have not spent hugely and won the league qualified for the CL , but are still looking for bargains.I love cheap or free signings but Ibra Binho Mexes Taiwo Cassano...surely there is even 15 - 20 to go for Asamoah who is better than both.

My main gripe with both Aqua & Monty is they are slower than Ambro or Seedord.We have an old static midfield and signing either one is just going to give us a slightly younger static midfield.Dont buy them keep the $$$ and stop talking about a Mr X.

Here's my guess on what's been passing on Mr. Yellow Tie's head: since we can pass UCL group phase last year without Cassano, Urby, and van Bommel, then, at least on paper, we should be able to do that again this time. So what's the need for the huge signing in Fabregas & co? Then come the winter mercato or prior to the knock-off phases, we'll see what we can do with regards to Ganso (our main target this summer) or any other additions. For the time being, either Aquilani or Montolivo will do just fine. Mr. X? Well, if they call themselves fans, they should've known better than to take my words seriously

Montolivo for me. Neither will raise our team to another level, but I think Montolivo's the better all round player, and the one more likely to fit Allegri's ideas better. Oh and he's a year younger I guess.
