It's quite strange that Milan is not interested in Hernanes, since last year there were dozens of articles reporting that we are going to sign him.

Anyway, with high-profile midfielders set to change clubs in Serie A (Pastore, Sneijder, Hernanes), it would be a bit disappointing for Milan to end up with only a Montolivo or Aquilani type of signing...

Thats the worst rumor of all.

Hopefully, Milan will snap him up.
This time last summer the Ibra Robinho rumour rumblings were in full swing. There really isn't much this year beside montolivo who is meh , I'm anxious to see who we get if we get someone.
My hope for a very good midfielder who will up our level of play is still there , my heart says we'll get a quality mid my head says no.
Kaka is better than our current offensive mids but IMO is not a huge Mr X signing.
Hernanes to Inter well if Sneijder gets sold for 40 million I could see them moving for Hernanes for 20-25 million and prob spending the rest aswell.
God I hate the Mercato at times especially the summer one 3 months Is a long time .
Paloschi has been loaned at Chievo with an option to buy a half of his contract.

So now we have Ibra, Pato, Pippo, Robinho and Cassano upfront. If Cassano leaves, then someone will come in. Drogba maybe? I would be all in favor of this, but he's a bit old and on high wages.

Guys, I see your main argument here is that a fit Pirlo is better than both Aquillani and Montolivo... That might be the case, but the problem is in the recent years Pirlo has never been fit for even half of the season.

The other problem is that Pirlo no longer can deliver world class performances for 90 minutes. Do we really need yet another high wage player sitting on the bench?

I would certainly go for Auillani, he seems to be a more talented and promising of the two. The truth with Aquillani, he never really played in a good team. AC Milan with quality players around might lift Aquillani to the level people are expecting from him. If we get him for a reported 8m sum that was mentioned in a press, I think the gamble is 100% worth it.

Aquilani in the price range of 8-12M would be a good signing, hopefully he'll stay injury free if we sign him. He's a lot better than Montolivo imo. But he still will not solve our midfield problems.

Thats the argument, Pirlo may not deliver for 90 min anymore, but still can deliver 60 min of WC performance,on the other hand both Montolivo or Aquilani are not able to deliver at all a WC performance.
No ho visto Superman volare, ma ho visto Super Pippo segnare. I supereroi esistono davvero.
p.s. To continue my rant - I think the problems of Italian NT and Italian clubs are deeply interconnected.
Almost none of the Italy NT squad are playing at top clubs.

Chiellini, Buffon - playing at struggling Juve, Rossi - playing at Villareal (not a bad club but not a top club either), Balotelli - ManCity (not a top club either YET),
Aquillani - hopping between struggling Juve and Liverpool, Cassano - played at Sampdoria till this season, not a starter at Milan, Pirlo - plagued with injuries.... etc etc etc...

The difference between a top team and a crappy team is often lack of form and lack of confidence. I am sure if Rossi joined Barca, he would become a top player and a star for Italy, if Aquillani starts playing regularly at Milan I don't see why he can't be a star (he certainly has the talent), if Cassano starts for Milan I am sure he can deliver more than he does now.

Are they tryign to say that Busquets and Pedro are better than any Italy midfielder / attacker?!
BULLSH--! Busquets and Pedro are just solid team players, nothing more nothing less. Take them out of their Xavi / Iniesta surroundings and they won't play nearly as good.
In fact I think just about any of the Italy's players can provide much more.

/end of useless rant Big Grin

That largely depends on who we are playing. You probably forgot all those games where our midfield is getting run over and Pirlo fails to keep up with players he is marking.

Fast players usually run right through Pirlo in current form. And when we have our backs pressed against our goal, Pirlo can't do anything for the attack either.

If Milan wants to challenge for CL, they will need midfielders who can deliver WC performance not just 60 or 90 mins a game but throughout the whole season. Something that Pirlo, Monty, and Aqua can't do.

Hernanes beats all of them by a distance and if Monty or Aqua is really 12mil or so. I would rather have Milan spend 18 mil + Urby or some other young players on Hernanes. Since Hernanes is a WC player and is awaiting for the chance to explode in Europe.
Leave Goal.crap alone. Busquets over De Rossi, Capdevila over any Italian LB, Pedro ahead of Cassano (a fit and confident Cassano mind)....

The problem with IT clubs and teams is quite simple.

The talent just ain't there. None of the current IT midfielders and attackers are WC barring De Rossi and Rossi (both are boarderline WC). Pirlo does not count since the last time he showed WC consistency was almost three years ago, same goes for Cassano. The rest are good solid players but none of them are at the level of Xavi, Iniesta, Cesc, Hernanes, Sneijder, Bastian...not to mention the likes of Messi, Ibra, Pato, CR7, Villa and others.

Buffon might not be the best GK in the world but he is still among the top 5, while Chellini is no doubt WC, but there is not a suitable partner to compliment him. Santacroce just disappeared, Bonnucci never finds his confidence since the Juve switch, and Ranchoaania is solid still a level or two away from being WC. Guys like Motta, Crisito, Maggio, Balzetti...just aint that good. Abate certainly got the talents and confidence but he is useless to the NT since he never gets the selection.
