Not trying to sound cocky, but how do you propose we convince Cairo of all people to allow his prized asset to leave for 40M less than his buyout clause?
We got the young 'un's. We take out big gunz  Devilcool
It's not a buyout clause for teams in Italy. Besides, a release clause is not a valuation of the player. Players in Spain must have release clauses, and most of them are unrealistically high. Players never get sold for their release clauses over there because simply put, that's not the value of the player.. There are instances, but for the most part, no.

I agree with you though. The old dirt bag is using the "foreign release clause" as "valuation" for Belotti and he won't cave. At least not until now. Belotti should say, "Screw you old man. If I am valued at 100mil, than I want my salary to correlate with that valuation". In other words, a player whose value is 100mil should be making 4/5/6mil per year...not 1.5mil. Belotti got fuked big time. No wonder he is changing his agent.
I wouldnt mind D.Costa.
So, first half costa
Second half we sign ibra

Let cairo get anxious for a full year hoping belotti could score as many as before

I'd be happy to do a 12 month loan then he can go off to Atletico and we can pick up Belotti... Hopefully by then Cairo realises he's being a stooge and needs to drop the price...

As for release clauses, I've brought this up before. They're used as a means to filter the out the clubs that aren't 100% interested...

Portugal is the best example for this... the top 3 put a release clause on all their players. As a result, clubs don't just come knocking all the time asking about valuations distracting players with ideas of transferring here there and everywhere... The clubs that do come and start negotiating are the ones that genuinely want the player and almost always end up buying but rarely at the full buy out clause... Andre Silva's clause was 45mill and we paid 38mill... Up until then no one had really come knocking. The theory being that if there was no clause, other clubs might have Expressed their interest publicly hoping to pick him up on the cheap, but with the clause that didn't happen leaving the player free to play without worrying about transfer rumours of him going everywhere.
Not a full proof strategy but works well fro the most part.
Bank on Belotti & Kalinic
Dusted off the cobwebs on the account to post again after a brief stint back in 2015!

Belotti currently meeting with Cairo @1am Italian time. Can only assume Belotti is trying to force a move.

With regards the mercato so far, not only has Milan's recent business been the best the club has done in countless years, i'd go as far as to say it's the best business any club has done in 6 weeks in recent history?

To be able to identify quality targets that are needed and get them for reasonable prices when everyone knows you have money is incredible. On top of this, the blend of youth & experience couldn't be better. The decision to renew Montella's contract early was wise. The ability to attain Donnarumma's renewal after everything that happened was also very smart. Bonucci was incredible.

Belotti & Sanches signings look quite likely now. With that our squad has been transformed from a genuine midtable Serie A team to a team that is legitimately able to compete on all 3 fronts and would not look out of place in the Champions League Knockout stages.

My only fear is that the team will take considerable time to gel but best to make all our signings now and early in the window and in future we can pick out 2/3 key targets and add them to a strong team.

Looking forward to the rest of the window and the start of the season

I'm thinking the same... Kalinic is probably a week away for backup and Belotti will eventually come he might just come quite late in the marcato...
Plus we'll likely get Renato Sanches as Bayern don't want him and there's not really interest from anyone else...
And I'm assuming we'll pick up a backup CB(if the plan is in fact to go a 3 man defence)
And wouldn't be surprised if we do pick up a couple more youngsters top join the first team as backup
And we'll likely continue picking up top prospects to join our junior teams... read overnight(Aus Time) we're about to sign Nicolò Canalicchio who looks like a potential star... and Still looking at Lo Faso

As for the team taking time to Gel... It is what it is... I think we'll do enough to fight for CL but this is a long term project. Once we gel and start to perform we'll be dangerous.

You gotta think about our finances first mate.
We have around 120-130M to spend plus whatever we can get from sales.
After that was announced, the only outgoings have been Lapadula and De Sci (and possibly Viagioni in a few days).
Also note that it was after this announcement that we brought in Bonucci.
Bonucci less De Sci (they're basically a packaged deal) cost us 42M - 14M = 28M
Lapadula's full 13M valuation we won't be getting until next year... we only get 2M for the initial loan.

That leaves us currently with 130M - 28 + 2 = 104M left to do our business.
Okay, lets say Bayern really do take 8M for an initial loan of Renato Sanchez. That leaves us with 96M to play.
From what I've been hearing Kalinic is gonna cost us around 33M. That leaves us with just 63M that we can use for Belotti.

Unless we can convince Cairo to take 60M + players (which we have not been able to do all summer), Belotti may as well be a pipe dream.

Once Belotti and Sanches sign for us(if sanches deal happens) I wouldn't mind the club going after a Danilo Cataldi or Mattia Caldara(not very likely but it'd be cool if it did)
