I don't think we should sell him at this point though, even if I though he was horrible the first half of the season and only ok-good the second half.

Much needed cash yes perhaps, but for what? If we are banned from European football we’ll have no ambitions for the next season, bar not getting relegated, so we might as well salvage what we can out of the mess. Bonucci is the only player we have with something to pass on to the younger players, and we will not get close to anyone of his caliber with the money we can get from a sale.

That's correct.  Selling Bonucci for 40m equals zero profit as we bought him for that amount

Technically yes but FFP is basically about the future now, selling him for 40 with money coming after July 1st will help us with FFP.
