Oh but wait, we traded his 50% plus another 5m for 50% of El Shaarawy's contract...... now we have to buy him back...

This has been discussed before. If we don't give half of players rights - the other team has no incentive to play him and develop him.
Besides we have very good relationship and business deals with Genoa. Tehy took Kaladze off our hands for crying out loud!
Even if we need to buy him back, Genoa won't ask for more than what he is worth.

I disagree. We co-owned Strasser with Genoa last year but we had to pay a larger sum to inquire his other 50% thanks to his good performances with Milan last year. We will not simply buy him back for the same amount they paid us, it will be more.

And they did not take Kaladze off of our books, they simply took him off of our team. Milan tried hard to get rid of him to any team but at the end no team wanted him because of his high wages, and since it was the last day of the market and Milan didn't need him, he thought well let us do Preziosi a favor and loan him to them and we'll pay the wages. Believe it or not, that's what happened. That's also what's happening with Oddo right now - we are paying like 1.2m of his wages while Lecce are only paying 0.3m (and again it was a last day deal).

I think Merkel will not come back cheaply, and we definitely should have loaned up. BTW he assisted the winning goal today again for Genoa in the 2-1 victory over Roma.

rumours are Chelsea and Barca are on high alert as we may decide to sell Pato at the end of the season. Sources are dubious at best though (one being tribal).

If we were to ever sell him, it better be now before the FFP kicks in and teams won't be able to spend crazy sums any more. We could prolly get in Balotelli and have a an extra 15m to do something else with.

I can't discuss the Kaladze / Oddo deals since I don't know all "behind the scene" details. Maybe you do and maybe you don't, I am not sure.

Regarding Merkel, dude... that's the price you pay for having other team develop the player for you. Merkel hasn't turned into a super star by any margin, he is only putting together a string of good performances for a mid-table team.
Having said that, his price might go up by 2-3 millions maybe. Because I repeat, good performances for Genoa don't make him world class all the sudden.

If you think 2-3 millions is a lot for a potentially world class youngster - try signing one from a different team and see how much that will cost. 15-20-25m maybe?

Seriously, Galliani is the biggest Scrooge in the world. If we were losing money with these deals, Galliani would be the first one to say this.

Meanwhile, I am happy that we have a club like Genoa that we can rely on for transfers, e.g. - Boateng deal. (also,- Helping us with purchases to bypass FFP rules perhaps?)

There are lots of rumours of us going after Naingollan again, possibly as a long term replacement for Rino. Would absolutely love to have this guy in our squad, a fighter in midfield but is surprisingly technical. He'd be like Nocerino, but imo is probably better.

Hope to see a flamini-naingollan swap.or he comes to milan for 1 mln like nocerino.

Otherwise,if flamini can accept a big pay cut,I think our management will renew him.

Flamini-Nainngolan swap? Flamini's contract will expire this year, also considering he is earning around 5m euros a year. Do you think if this swap has any chance?

Nainngolan would be good signing for us, considering he can play anchor and RCM. He is dynamic, quick and agressive, good ball skills and tackling. i wanted us to sign him last market. However it didnt happen.

Ambrosini is almost finished, Van Bommel is in decline compared to his last season, Gattuso can retire or we dont know when he will return. We need new signings for RCM and anchor.

We rested Van Bommel yesterday and we had to play Ambrosini after his bad game vs Lecce, cuz we dont have anyone who can play there.

For RCM, We just have Aquilani(we dont know the status of Gattuso and Flamini) Van Bommel and Ambrosini(both can leave Milan next season, high possibility).

in this case, we need a RCM, an anchor, vice anchor... 3 signings for midfield. We just have Seedorf and Nocerino for LCM. Seedorf may retire or stay as 3rd choice or 2nd choice... Nocerino is good as squad player. in this case, we need a starter for there who can also play as trequartista...

Nainngolan would be nice signing for Anchor and RCM role. He played there before. He even played at LCM. so he would be nice signing.

Casemiro is a RCM, box to box player. Would be nice signing.

Fernando, Sandro, M'Vila would be good for anchor role. However i liked Fernando from Gremio, he is good for anchor role, vice anchor. Would be good investment.

We can call Strasser back for vice Anchor role. in this case, RCM, Anchor and LCM is needed.

Casemiro or Nainngolan for RCM.

Genoa probably will ask for Calvano's half or maybe some other players. They are fond of our Primavera. i thought that Preziosi was about to sign all of them in co-ownership. maybe Fossati and Verdi's halfs.

Genoa sold Kucka to inter, they need a sub RCM.

Ambro Rino V.Bommel Seedorf , if Rino doesn't retire I fully 100% believe that only V.Bommel will be released back to PSV.Flamini will prob take a 1 or 2 million pay cut and be resigned , as no other team will offer him 5 million after tax.
I don't see any revolution in midfield or any other area.

Hoping for Casemiro or Nainngolan for RCM.Fernando, Sandro, M'Vila for anchor Eriksen or Hamsik for creative just is not going to materialise.
I also don't think that Galliani is a scrooge the money isn't his , if he could have a big budget 50 million or so he'd work magic but he doesn't and it's the bargain transfer's he goes or has to go for.

Sure impossible is nothing , but reality rules I'm afraid .And our reality isn't one of signing 3 or 4 WC / potential WC players for big big fee's.I dream with the best but after resent transfers and with what we make and FFP , our budget is nowhere near enough to pull off a transfer campaign like that.
A budget of maybe 10-15/20 million is what we may or may not have .I as alway's hope I am wrong and the virtually 0 spent last mercato means we have money to reinforce in Jan & the summer.

Here is my guess:

I suspect Van Bommel's contract will be extended to 2013.

I suspect Gattuso may come back for one last hurrah, if his condition of sixth palsy is indeed temporary as they say. He is the most likely to leave, if I had to make a guess.

Seedorf will have a few good games after his convalescence, and on the virtue of that he may be here again.

Ambrosini won't leave the club. Not this year at least.

I think at most 2 of those players will leave.

We will sign Montolivio in Jan most probably, and a young talent. In the summer, we may or may not sell Thiago Silva. If he stays in the face of unrelenting Barcelona courting (the borderline harassment variety), Galliani will say "our biggest signing is Thiago Silva."

In 2013, T. Silva will leave to Barcelona, and Milan will replace him with a young defender from Brazil. Inevitably, crestfallen, we will ask "are we now a selling club?" Out of fear, we may accommodate our misgivings under the "The Big 2 Spanish clubs work on a different planet" category.

During that lugubrious summer, Galliani will lament, not entirely unjustifiably, fiscal restrictions in Italy, Spanish advantages, his empty cupboards etc.

This is how I see our short-term future.

Meanwhile, by then Napoli and possibly Roma will be working on redeveloping/building their stadiums. Legge Crimi will maybe pass in November, so more teams will develop and build stadiums.

We need to pull our weight, and we need to do it now. Galliani may be right about many things, but him and Padrone are taking us for a ride. It is intolerably galling that our fate is a function of Berlusconi's politics. While Juve is opening new commercial areas around their stadium (see today's Tuttosport), we are languishing in a dilapidated mess at San Siro.

Our future, despite success, is precarious. The senatori issue is just the beginning of our headaches.
