Arthur to Juve for 72 million, Pjanic to Barca for 60million.
I wouldn't call any of these prices a discount, what do you think of this player 'exchange'?

Arthur didn't even want to go to Juventus. I read that Juventus has been pursuing Arthur for a while, and it is only recently that the player finally changed his mind.

also, buffon and chiellini both extended by one more year. I like Buffon but I hope that he will play until 50 without a CL trophy.

Not related to our Mercato but Benevento close on signing Loic Remy, Kamil Glik, Schurrle. A club like Beneveneto getting some good players even though they are not in their prime.

Benevento has never lost to Milan in the history of Serie A. I am not sure there are many clubs out there like them.

Looks like they would be pretty high profile promoters but yeah if they want to keep themselves longer or wants a turn to a Mid-table team, they should bank on Young players like Sassuolo and Atalanta did after promotions.

Way over-inflated prices....especially Pjanic's who is now 30 and hasn't been that impressive for the last couple years. It suits both clubs though (in terms of price). They both get to recognize a huge gain on the books. I think Juventus is BY FAR the better off with this move. Arthur is exactly the type of player Sarri wants. Simple, quick, sees the game well, plays at a short range and covers well defensively. He will do what Jorginho and Alan did for him in a way. On the other hand, Pjanic was more the "Pirlo" type. Doesn't want to mess around with short passes and triangles. Wants to go for the killer ball more often than not regardless of the style the coach demands. Not sure how Pjanic fits in Barca. They have Busquets and De Jong in exactly the same position. Both want the ball to feet. They need some runners around them, even with their style of play. It'll be interest to see. To replace Arthur with Pjanic makes very little sense to me. And the way they did it...by practically kicking him out.....something must have happened internally. Who knows, maybe he got on Messi's wrong side. We all know who makes the decisions over there. |
