I absolutely commend Lotito and De Laurentiis for what the have done for their clubs. Absolutely top top work considering how healthy both of these clubs are financially in comparison to where they were before and the rest of Serie A.
A lot of people hate them... And I understand why. However what they have achieved is something admirable and really deserve a standing ovation. It is similar to what Rangnick has achieved at his clubs except without the Italian clubs owning their stadiums.
Btw, James Rodríguez contract expires on June 2021 but he’s 28.. not that he’s a must signing but worth keeping an eye out for if a bargain is available at the end of the upcoming two mercati.
Rumours around Elliott-LV/Braida resurfacing again. I really wish there will be some explanation to the recent change in shares in ‘Project RedBlack‘ last week, which is the company Elliott owns that owns Milan. Braida has publicly spoken about how maybe he could still return to Milan in the future - why would s professional like him say something like that in the press?
After having Braida at Milan for many years and seeing him at Barca, I really really hope that the keys are given to Rangnick. What we need now is a complete restructure of the whole sporting sector. What Braida achieves is maintaining a top club’s status near the top (arguably he’s failed at that too). Braida’s advantage is that he’s always been a Milanista during our rise to greatness and knows exactly what we did to achieve it. Maintenance is not what we need right now, we need a restructure across the whole club’s sporting side that has struggled (downwards path started in 2007/08 in my opinion) for far too long.
I do think Braida-Rangnick together would bring the experience Milan needs but they’re both sporting directors. Rangnick clearly says he would only move if he’s given total control. What would Braida do here if not be a sporting director? He would play second fiddle to Ralf? That would be great if true. He’d give Ralf the backing and relevant Italian experience he needs while Ralf can do the coaching/restructure that Braida can’t.
I just don’t understand how Braida is out there even rumored to be talking to players regarding their contracts already. Even La Scala, one of the minority shareholders in Milan, tweeted yesterday that there’s total confusion. How are Rangnick and Braida both currently doing Milan’s sporting director duties at the moment? What’s going on?
Personally, I’m totally disregarding any rumour that is not related to Elliott-Rangnick. When the Braida-LV rumours have more evidence and pace, I’ll begin to consider about that idea.
