I honestly wouldn't mind a more experienced defender than Fofana, Tomiyasu etc. Someone in his mid-20s with some Serie A and/or European experience would be good.

I think his name and status in football helps Maldini a lot when talking to players, as he's a true legend of the game. Hearing someone like him say that he believes in you, must make a huge difference to a young player. I'm with you. I'd be ok with that. I guess there are several things to think about. Do we want... 1) CB that comes in and is immediately ready to get into the starting lineup? In this case, we need to dish out some good money. Age doesn't matter here. Quality is the important aspect. (Most expensive option. I don't have any examples here, and I really don't think this is the option we're going for. This would be your top CBs that cost 50mil +) 2) CB that comes in and is stable/good enough to be 3rd choice to begin with. Maybe or maybe not, with growth and development, down the line he can replace one of the CBs that are starting (probably Kjaer due to age I guess)? In this case, we don't want someone 30 or older. We probably want someone younger (early-mid 20s at most). (Someone like Mienkovic probably fits here. Also, Fofana who obviously will be expected to take over from Kjaer in the long term) 3) CB that strictly comes in as 3rd choice? Of course, this is football and if he performs and 1 of the starters has a dip in form he can take over, but the thought is that he's 3rd choice when he signs. In this case, a player in his mid-late 20s with Serie A experience is probably the best choice. (Probably the cheapest option. I'm thinking guys like Nastasic is what fits in here. Also Rudiger due to loan availability, although Rudiger is good enough to start as well, even now)

Doesn't mean that they would give up their bag loads of money to come here, but they should all be honored.

St Étienne have accepted Leicester City's latest offer for Wesley Fofana - €35m + €5m in bonuses, according to Le Progrès.

So Fiorentina plays 3-5-2 (or 3-5-1-1 depending on what you consider Ribery to be). Either way, they keep using Chiesa as a RWB. So, if they were to sell Chiesa, they would be short of RWBs, right? Logically speaking, we could solve this problem for them. Give them some of the Paqueta money (let's say 10mil) + Conti & Samu (bothe valued at around 15 each), and it's all good.
![]() I know, I know...CB is priority and we just got Hauge for the attacking line. But while we got momentum, why not!? Haha

No way we can pay that outright. This is the reality. Leicester can easily outspend Milan these days. But it's ok. I feel like that would have been too much anyway. There is always a big risk with these types of transfers. I can name so many players that were supposed to be the next big thing, got sold for huge money, and turned into nothing more then average (in some cases not even average). Also, there are some that didn't get sold only to "show" the following season they were nothing special. We gotta be careful and not get pulled into these bidding wars for these "flavor of the month" players. Not saying they are not good players. But the risk is always there and when talking about 40mil Euros, it's one hell of a risk. It's different when talking about a player that's been performing for 4-5 years. But not after a year.

Let me name few- Matthias Ginter Duje Caleta-Car Jonathan Tah Izzo Izzo is the most realistic for us.
