I believe Lille's owner has a large debt with Elliot...similar to Lee and Milan. Don't know the details if the debt is personally of the Lille owner of if Lille as an entity. But either way, Elliot has no decision making power at the club. They just collect interest/payments like any lender does. Maybe in the future they will..but for now they have no say in anything.

About our need, I think we still need one midfielder, a more defensive one. We only have Tonali and Krunic as Kessie and Bennacer backup.

I haven't seen Soumare play as well. But I've been looking at his stats at whoscored.com. Here's a brief summary compared to Tonali, Kessie, Benacer from last season

There is rumor that we tried to get him with 10 mil (with option to buy for 25 mil), similar like what we offered for Tonali. Maldini co. might rate him pretty highly, the problem could be the availability of the transfer funds and the fact that Soumare still lacks of experience (the board might block a big transfer for a young player).
