Pretty sure all experienced signings, probably including Ibra, are based on circumstances. If we were 8th now I doubt Mandzukic would be contacted. If anything, from now to summer he can adapt to help in CL next season, actually smart that apparently his deal would be 6 months only so if somehow we fail to reach CL the team will not have spend money on him next season.
About Simakan, if he is a true top talent 20 is a bargain so someone should actually outbid Leipzig lol.

This. Mandzukic is an experienced winner that will help us in our fight to win the title. IF we make UCL would be an amazing addition to the squad.
Not sure many clubs would want to outlay 20m on a risk that's injured for the next two months.
and not sure we should be spending 20m on a CB when Kalulu is looking like he might be good enough to fill the role. spending 20m on a another CB when we have 4 plus Kalulu isn't a smart option. especially when we've still got to wait 2 months for him to be available

We should've closed that deal when the mercato opened. We negotiated back and forth over a couple of million difference in valuation and he picked up the injury this past week playing in a league game. If we had done the deal last week, that would've never happened. Now we have to hope that Chelsea kid who's played less than 100 min this season can be a reliable player for us.

I'm not sure it was like that at all. I think the fact Kalulu came good affected how we handled the deal.
IF the Chelsea kid comes, he comes for the added depth and I'm not sure how much he'll play with Gabbia coming back soon and Musacchio finally getting a game. Unless Musacchio is sold this window.

All due respect, if Kalulu playing a couple of good games meant we were going to give up on Simakan, we shouldn't have wasted the time on him to begin with. If this guy is the high quality player we deemed him to be, then we shouldn't let 2M or two good Kalulu games affect how we handle him. If we thought he was just going to be a low level bench warmer, then don't waste time negotiating for him to begin with. The way we handled this deal stinks of how Galliani used to negotiate for transfers. Wasting time left and right and end up losing the player because another team actually wanted to make a real offer. I am not here to argue about the quality of the player, I am sure Maldini knows it better than me. But wasting two weeks on him only to give up in the end and have him to go Leipzig is bad execution in my view.

At best, he was coming in to be 3rd choice. 20m on a third choice isn't good business. For that I'd rather pay the extra 10m and get Milenkovic who could likely push Roma out of a first choice spot.
and we're not talking 2m. That's what was rumored but it's also rumored that RB Leipzig paid 20m meaning it's 7-8m we're talking about.

He may be a third choice CB this year, but if that's all he is going to be, then why even waste time signing him at all? There are tons of free loanees out there who can come in and be a third choice option for us. The scouting department liked his potential and thought he could become a future starter, maybe Kjaer's eventual replacement. This guy is also rated really highly by the scouting community and is not deemed just a squad player. 20M for a future starter who can give us at least 10 years of high quality contribution is well worth 20m in today's market. And if all we offered for someone of this caliber is 12m, then why even bother start a negotiation? Would you sell me your house, which is worth 1M for 0.5M? Like i said, if we do not think he is that good, don't sign him. If we do rate him, put up a decent offer. Don't act like Galliani did.

Tomori for 30M buyout clause  None of my friends who are Chelsea fan rate him much, above average at best and inconsistent for most part. Considering the fact that we will never going to pay 30M clause and heard that Lampard kinda still rate him, it would be basically a 'dry loan' but anyway a huge upgrade over Duarte. Hope he remains our 5th choice CB and mostly sit on bench as Milan is not meant to develop your young player. 
This has been yet again an underwhelming mercato where we have lost players due failure of making deals and couldn't able to go for a bidding battle. Our management have been seriously crap in making deal, fans no longer cares as long as results have been in our favor but definitely this management have lost atleast my trust. I don't know we will ever going to sign best players from other league with this management.

we always offer half the money of asking price and think that the parent club are stupidly blind that they will accept that offer. Whole Milan fanbase will go berserk if our management accept Man City or PSG offer of 40M for Bennacer  Many argue that fulfilling the demands will meant that we are 'overpaying', I don't think that always meant the same. If we have paid 3-4M more for Simakan it wouldn't matter much. 20M is literally nothing for someone who is considered a top talent and already a starter for the club. If we would have paid 20M for Matteo Lovato then that would would definitely being called 'Overpaying' as he has played just handful of matches in Serie A and not a starter for his club.
