This is irrelevant and far from the point being made. Galliani didn't "screw" Inter. It's easy to talk after the fact. Hindsight is easy. At the time, this wasn't the case. 

You can make the same case about Paolo now. You can say..."Paolo signed one of Italy's best CM's in Bennacer for peanuts", "Paolo screwed Real and signed Theo for peanuts". 
I'm struggling to see what you are even suggesting. Because what you are asking for, is exactly what Maldini is doing...finding good deals for good prices. But if you think Dybala or whoever else you suggested can be signed...then no. This is impssible.

think more clearly here ... who do you think good qaulity players are there and not appreciated at their clubs that can be stolen at decent prices? (who could go free also/exchange)

The main criticism for paolo in manduzic deal is why did he wait so long to get where he could have stolen him before Qatari league team (all over the net). he could have then brought a more ready and young player

You do realize that wages need to be paid, right? Mandzukic got insane money in Qatar. Rumors at the time were of wages in the region of 7-8mil. It wasn't reasonable to pay this. Same goes for Mata, Matic, etc. Wages are a bigger problem then transfer fees. You could somehow structure a deal regarding teansfer fees. Installments, exchanges, etc, etc. But the wages are a problem that you can't work around. And if you don't have the revenue, you simply can't pay them. Many times we can't afford these names because of the wages and not necessarily because of transfer fees.

Why are we again talking about Galliani times? First of all those players were of another era and another time with different set of rules. Second of all you can't even compare current player in different leagues and age groups.
Funnily enough when we rated summer 2020 window I rated management low but some fans expectations are totally out of step with reality.

Maldini is seeing that we are first and he is taking a relatively cheap gamble, if Mandzukic was currently playing and scoring in a top league he wouldn't fit the 'relatively cheap gamble'. This is not debatable, I am not sure what's the point of me even typing it

The cheap gamble is that additional depth is always good, be it 20 year old be it 35 year old. The reason you would try to opt for the 20 year old is because you want to build more for future but Maldini is looking at help for right now because I am 100% sure management didn't expect to be first in January.
